Some pros and some cons at Meadow Lane this afternoon as Notts County failed to beat Bury, with Jon Stead missing a penalty, but put in a much-improved performance that saw warm applause by the Black & White Army at full time. Neal Ardley had clearly talked some sense into his ailing players as they were bright from the off, with Rob Milsom going close with heading wide before rifling wide from just outside of the box, while Shaun Brisley also came close. Not even the most optimistic of Notts County fans would have honestly believed that their beleaguered team, reeling from 10 consecutive defeats and on their way out of the Football League, would be heading into the last five games of the season closer to the League Two playoffs than to the bottom two. But that's exactly what has happened, as the Magpies now boast a four-match winning run after two late goals overturned what appeared to be a defeat at Carlisle United into a 2-1 victory at BrUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County have moved off the foot of the League Two table and now sit two points from safety following their second successive draw, a 0-0 stalemate at Northampton Town. The Magpies drew 3-3 against Stevenage last time out and, although they remain chasing a win this season, a second clean sheet of the campaign - following that against Colchester United in August - will come as a much-welcomed improvement. No day off for Harry Kewell, who hit the big four oh on matchday, as his charUpdated by PON_News

Sigh... Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong for Notts County in the first half of this season has gone wrong. You can add defeat in the Nottinghamshire derby to that as Mansfield Town ran out 2-0 winners against the Magpies at Field Mill in Neal Ardley's League Two debut for his new side. In all fairness, the stats do favour the Stags (58% possession, 17 shots, 7 on target) but aside from possession (42%), Notts didn't seem to have done too badly themselves on that fAdded by PON_News

Notts County once again failed to impress on the pitch as they could only play out a 0-0 draw against fellow League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night. Sure, Harry Kewell's side claimed their first clean sheet in a month and now have two points from their last two games. But really, they should have beaten Port Vale at the weekend and they were truly lacklustre against the Latics, another side they should have put away. As it turned out, Oldham let ripAdded by PON_News

Notts County have fallen to a sixth successive League Two defeat after Colchester United claimed a 2-1 win in Saturday's clash at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. The Magpies took the lead just after the quarter-hour mark when Richard Duffy flicked on a Carl Dickinson corner and Elliott Hewitt snuck in to nod home from close range. Colchester were level within just seven minutes, however, as Denny Johnstone whipped a cross into the path of Kurtis Guthrie, who headed past Adam CollinUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County began the 2018-19 season with a point in a tricky and ultimately underwhelming 0-0 draw with Colchester United at Meadow Lane. Although the U's appeared the brighter of the two sides at the off, the Magpies almost took a fourth-minute lead through debutant Enzio Boldewijn. The Dutchman was able to let rip with a low shot from a good position but visiting goalkeeper Dillon Barnes was able to palm the effort behind for a corner. But Colchester then threatened midway thrAdded by PON_News

Notts County have been knocked off top spot in League Two after a late Francois Zoko equaliser salvaged a 1-1 draw for Yeovil Town in Tuesday night's encounter at Huish Park. The hosts had the first meaningful chance of the night as Otis Khan's corner found Nathan Smith but the defender was unable to control it as the Magpies defence got the ball away. Yeovil then came close from another corner as Khan's set piece found Oluefela Olomola, but the striker volleyed over the bar. DespAdded by Joe Jones

Not great, but much better. Notts County put in a much improved performance against Morecambe at the Globe Arena today, but they relinquished a one-goal lead late on for a 1-1 final score. The first half was pretty dour and with little to write home about, save for a good Kristian Dennis one-on-one chance which Mark Halstead skilfully kept out. In the second period, Morecambe stepped up and Ajay Leitch-Smith threatened, while Liam Mandeville having an effort tipped behind inside the fiAdded by PON_News

Notts County have claimed a point in a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra at Meadow Lane, but fans were once again left disappointed as an overall tame performance gave way to a defensive collapse for the visitors' equaliser. The visitors were brightest from the off as they forced a succession of early corners but soon the action turned into little more than a dirge as goalmouth action was infrequent right until the half-time whistle. At the break, Aaron Collins replaced Jon Stead, who wAdded by Joe Jones

Notts County have secured fifth place in League Two and will face Coventry City in the playoffs following their goalless draw with Luton Town at Meadow Lane. Backed by more than 4,000 fans, the promoted Hatters looked lively early on with Olly Lee forcing Magpies goalkeeper Adam Collin into action with a powerful 20-yard drive. Jack Stacey then nearly rounded off a fine move when he drilled a low shot across the face of goal following a deft delivery from Elliott Lee. Michael O'CoAdded by Joe Jones

Notts County have returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-1 win over Morecambe at the Globe Arena. Kevin Nolan made four changes to his side, taking into consideration the glut of festive games and also injuries to Shola Ameobi and Jonathan Forte. Matt Tootle, Carl Dickinson, Terry Hawkridge and Ameobi - who started the 3-3 draw with Cambridge United - made way for Nicky Hunt, Dan Jones, Liam Walker and Lewis Alessandra. The Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan renaissance continues as Notts County put in a gutsy performance at Leyton Orient and, despite being pegged back, persevered and claimed a 3-2 win at Brisbane Road to gain further ground from the League Two relegation zone. Orient were already without Liam Kelly, who was banned for six games after pushing a Plymouth Argyle ballboy earlier in the week, and suffered a further setback when defender Tom Parkes was stretchered off with only eight minutes on the cloUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County have suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night which knocked them off the top of League Two. Putting in one of the worst performances of the season so far, the Magpies fell behind just before half time when Michael Raynes rattled home from close range after Eddie Nolan had headed George Cooper’s free kick across goal. Crewe's win was sealed when, 66 minutes in, Jordan Bowery ran in behind to latch onto a pass from Cooper - the Notts defence caught nappUpdated by Joe Jones

Notts County have stumbled to an unfortunate 3-1 defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers in Tuesday night's League Two clash at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Magpies took the lead in the 20th minute when Rovers failed to deal with a corner from the left and Richard Duffy reacted quickest to prod home from close range, his third goal of the campaign. However, the hosts equalised just before the break through James Coppinger, who was on hand to rifle Matty Blair's low cross across Adam ColliAdded by Joe Jones

Notts County have secured their League Two status with five games to go as they recorded their second home win in a row, beating Hartlepool United 1-0 in Tuesday's clash at Meadow Lane. Both sides were quick off the starting blocks in the first half as the visitors forced a corner after just two minutes, while Notts threatened through Jon Stead and Liam Noble, the former nearly nodding a ball into the path of Izale McLeod but being thwarted by a defender, while the latter came close with aAdded by Joe Jones

Notts County have returned to the top of League Two thanks to an emphatic 3-0 win over Newport County at Meadow Lane on Saturday. The hosts enjoyed the first opening of the game as Elliott Hewitt received a cutback from Jon Stead on the edge of the area and went for goal but sent his effort wide. Mike Flynn's charges responded through Dan Butler, who let rip with a powerful effort which Ross Fitzsimons did well to hold. Notts County have returned to winning ways and sit atop League Two once again following Saturday's 2-1 win over Barnet at Meadow Lane. The Magpies had slipped into a mini-blip prior to this weekend, with a defeat at Mansfield Town and a poor home draw with Forest Green Rovers sending alarm bells ringing ever so slightly. However, Shola Ameobi's header on the quarter-hour mark and Ryan Yates's equivalent from Matt Tootle's pinpoint cross set Notts on their way, even if it proved a nervyAdded by Joe Jones

The Notts County revival is well and truly on. After a shocking start to the season where the Magpies looked unfit for purpose in League Two, Harry Kewell's last four games have now yielded eight points in the shape of two wins and two draws. Following the 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra at the weekend, Notts followed it up with an even more impressive 3-1 win over Kewell's former employers Crawley Town, a feat made more remarkable by the fact they finished the game with 10 men. Notts County fans were in good spirits ahead of their side’s League Two clash with Portsmouth at Fratton Park, but by the end of it they were left to bemoan a poor display for which new boss Mark Cooper will need to pull out all the stops to sort out. The hosts had a penalty appeal turned down after just three minutes, with Haydn Hollis’s challenge on Ben Davies in the box not being punished. Most of the time, when a team goes two up in the 89th minute of a match, said team goes on to win the match. Luckily, this was not the case at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night, because Exeter City were supposedly home and dry after taking a two-goal lead against Notts County with one minute to go, but that was not quite how it panned out once the overweight lady had in fact begun belting out her vocals. Notts County have booked a date with Peterborough United in the second round of the FA Cup after overcoming Boreham Wood in Tuesday night's first-round replay at Meadow Lane. The Magpies had to fight back from two goals down to seal a 2-2 draw in the original tie, but goals from Jonathan Forte and Aaron Collins were enough to secure a 2-0 win over the plucky non-league side. On a mild mid-November evening in Nottingham, the 1,762 attendees - most rooting for the home side - saw Notts bAdded by Joe Jones
