Digital advertising displays

Featured Replies

I noticed those during our recent away match there. I hate the things as they're designed to draw your attention away from the match, and are much more effective at it than normal boards.

However, it'll probably just be a matter of time before they're a requirement as they are in Germany. It would be nice if the powers that be could at least restrict ads with moving graphics, but I'm not holding my breath.

My partner found them terribly distracting, and once the light began to fade (only slightly) the reds and yellows really became dominating and possibly had more of an illuminating effect than the floodlights.  I am sure floodlights aren't meant to be distracting, so these advertising boards shouldn't either.  I really don't like them at all.

They are frequently prone to damage. Kyle Walker recently did this in frustration, by kicking one which caused damage to the screen. There's nothing more annoying than a clicking screen or dead pixels on an advertising board.

If we were a much bigger position, say the Championship I think it would make a lot more sense.

Meadow Lane has a nice bit of space at the side of the pitch, which could see these come into play down the line. However, I do know that the club previously struggled to get companies to take up boards, I am not sure how easier it would be if they were digital. Most likely, we will end up with non-local companies and advertisers from the Football League shoved in our faces. Much like the new PA system has those annoying commercials which show on the scoreboard and deafen you in the stands.
