A Trip Down Memory Lane (9)

Northampton 1 Notts County 1, March 1971 In black and white. Just footage of the Notts goal, but what a goal.

A typical headed goal from a Notts County great Tony Hateley, with an assist by Brian Stubbs. Tony was one of the best headers of a ball in Footballing history. He came back to Notts to help Notts get promoted, and he did just that.

My lord... The referee's sideburns. ???? He's a time traveller from 1800s. ????

"It's there!" great bit of commentary.

@ChrisI've been scouring You tube for any more goals from Tony when he came to Notts for a 2nd time in 1970. Not found any yet but I will keep looking.

I remember left winger Charlie Crickmore had many assists providing pin point crosses for Tony to head in during that Championship winning season.

They both played in a great side.

I was at Meadow Lane when he returned for the Northampton game the atmosphere was electric.
