What was the first record you bought?

Obviously being an old fart my first record was bought many years ago before a lot of you were born. I bought this album second hand from a record stall in Victoria Market, it’s simply called The Rolling Stones and was their debut album in 1964. It started a long love affair between me and the Stones which continues to this day.

That's a real memory tester @Fan of Big Tone.We didn't have a record player until Christmas 1960Β  when my parents bought a stereogram plus several 45's(I can hear the younger members asking what's a stereogram and 45) but I can only remember 3 .They were 'Its now or never by Elvis,Poetry in motion by Johnny Tillotson and Lonely pup(in a christmas shop) by Adam Faith.I'll have a look through my collection to see if I can turn up any more.I can't remember the fiirst 45 or album I bought at the moment.

My mum liked Adam Faith. We had Lonely Pup in a Xmas Shop. Green finger was on the B side.Β

Won the singing competition at Warner's singing "Green finger" as a 3 year old.

Never sung in front of a big audience since.

They’re probably asking what a record is too, it’s all downloads these days I guess.

My dad's youngest brother,my uncle Stan, now sadly no longer with us,took me to see Adam Faith at Derby around 1961.
