Over Confidence Or?

So No last minute signings on the last day of the Transfer Window. It would seem that a couple of Victories and holding on to Alassana Jatta, is enough to convince the Owners, that everything at the Lane is Hunky Dorey. But we Fans know it isn't. There have been many debates on this Site of what Players and type of Players the Magpies need to go for Promotion, and it would seem that Once Again the Fans have been Ignored. Poor Transfer Windows in January over the last couple of seasons have cost the Magpies, and this Summer Transfers haven't filled Fans with any sort of Confidence, from the Head Coach, to the D.O.F. and Poor Player Recruitment.

So are the Brothers Over Confident and convinced that the Present Squad is capable of delivering Promotion to League 1? Are they hoping beyond hope that this Cheap Squad will fulfill their Dream of Notts Climbing the Football Pyramid? Or is it that they have spent to much money on the Club's Infrastructure and can only afford to bring in Free Agents and Loanees? While the expense of a Hybrid Pitch at the Lane has produced a Top Playing Surface , was it really necessary and cost effective to repeat that Expense at the New Training Ground? All ready this season Results have shown a Drop in match attendances at the Lane, this maybe because the Club have lost a few of the floating Fans and the Hardcore still remain, but How Long will it be, before even the Hardcore start looking for other things to do on a Saturday afternoon, if Results Don't begin to Improve Dramatically?

I think the owners had players in mind and are sticking with them. Roos is a good example. I get that even if I don't agree with it. What I don't get is not pursuing cover for AJ and Dennis.

I would like to believe that the club felt the right players simply weren't available and that they have decided to wait until January, as I doubt they will have used all the wage budget, and from the previous season, we tend to keep money aside to strengthen. I do think it's a bit naive to rely on our current attacking options; it seems like a huge gamble. Suspensions or injuries could really hamper progress.

Jayden Luker might be considered another option up top, but everything I have read about him suggests he's just a midfielder. He did okay when he scored for us against Salford City.

I just don't think promotion is something you gamble with, and while we can't always sign players. I do think the midfield is very top-heavy, and it does concern me that in previous seasons there have been areas hit with injuries that have held us back. Even last season, we had spells where David McGoldrick and Alassana Jatta struggled, and another option could have eased that period.

A field where dreams become reality.

With a bloated squad, maybe the club thinks that the first thing to do when you're in a hole is to stop digging - no more hopeful punts, which would push the squad size to over 30

Players like Ness, Traore, Jarvis, Macari, Gordon, the list goes on and on, will have a chance to prove themselves over the next 4 months.

They'll have to show the same gumption as MP, who is fighting off pressure already. It's their careers they're wasting, so time to roll up the sleeves, follow MP and give it their all.

I'm talking about Paterson. We don't know yet if he's the right man or how it'll all work out but it's clear that he's giving it his best.

Braver selections, substitutions and interviews than we saw from Maynard - fighting back from 1pt in 9 to go 7pts out of the next 9. Being the one to represent the club in all the interviews, handling some probing and awkward questions, which are really for the technical board. Just generally showing real commitment and passion. That's what I mean by gumption. If more players in the squad had the same spirit we'd have nothing to worry about

As @Chris, says, the right players were probably were not available. We have been down the route of panic signing for the sake of a signing and it hasn't worked. I think it's better to manage till January and have a clearer idea what we actually need and make a push for promotion in the second half of the season.

I think that the right players were available but he Owners were unwilling to pay the price.

It does appear to me, although I could be wrong, that most of the transfer profit is going on playing players & Coaches wages
