School Plays

We went to see our Grandson George in his school play yesterday, it was a little disappointing as he was stuck at the back and didn't have a costume as he was supposed to be a Christmas shopper.

The basic story was that a spaceship had gone into space and crash landed on a planet and was stranded, the spacemen met some aliens and told them that they would be missing Christmas, the aliens didn't know what Christmas was so the spacemen described it, Santa, presents, christmas shopping etc., (this is where George came in for his brief appearance at the front of the stage and looked at his shopping list). The aliens were sad for the spacemen so lent them their spaceship so they could get home.

There were lots of kids dressed as aliens, spacemen, stars etc., and poor old George and one or two others had no costume. He did sing the songs with gusto though and seemed to enjoy it.

I suspect he was put at the back because his behaviour hasn't been very good just lately, he has discovered swear words from somewhere (sigh), I must stop taking him to see Notts.

It's Freddie's play next week and he's a shepherd so at least he gets to dress up.

Usually my children's plays at school are very weird, yet this years we saw more traditional stories.

Jake's did Scrooge (in thirty minutes)
Ellie was mostly singing and,
Ava's was about the birth of some chap called Jesus.

Ah that spanish chap, doesn't he play on the wing....

I'm not sure really bud, though I did hear once, awhile back that we was rumoured to be signing him. Supposedly he could turn dead ball into goals, and water in spirits.

i went to see my cousins and i cant believe how dull schools make them!

there is no point, they treat kids as babies in my opinion. what happened to actual school plays with good productions?

It seems that the aliens are not the only ones who don't know what Christmas was about. There is a big clue in the way its spelt, just drop the last 3 letters..

In order to keep all the different minority religions and ethnic groups happy, Jesus and the nativity has been dropped. in some schools. As one  teenage lad asked me, "What has Jesus got to do with Christmas???"

To make things worse, it seems that after at least 1000 years, excluding a period when Oliver Cromwell banned him, Great Britain's Farther Christmas  has been benched. Saint Nicholas, a Greek, has now stolen his identity, then sponsored by Coca-Cola and given a make over in the USA, he has set out to be the commercial face of the holiday as  Satan, ooops  Santa.
