While we were at the pub for a family meal for Jake's birthday....Harry had a go on one of those prize everytime grabbers.....and Jakey spotted what he called 'a notts county bear' and helped Grandad (superram) win it for him....Harry is now the proud owner of a JUVE teddy!!! Fancy finding that in a toy grabber crane!!!

I was very lucky,  as the toy wasn't in a very good position and it didn't help that Jake and Harry were 'trying' to help me.Both Jake and Harry were jumping up and down with excitement and really thrilled to win a 'Notts County' teddy and not at all disappointed when they found out that it was a 'Juve' teddy because Jake understood the connection. If Jake likes something so does Harry! :)

Jake told me a little earlier that he won it to help Harry, they both did very well. I enjoyed watching Harry hide (though he gave us both away) Hope he enjoys his Juve soft toy, special that!

Credit to Jake for spotting the teddy. He was stood at the side, looking across, while my view from the front was obscured by a different toy. In fact when Jake got rather agitated because I couldn't see what he was pointing at , he came and stood in front of me and then couldn't see it himself. :hyper:

Well done Grandad, how much did you have to spend to "win" it?

Those things make me really angry you grab it fair and square and the it drops off, so you think "just one more go and I might get it", £10 spent later you decide you might as well gone to a shop and bought the blasted thing a lot cheaper. Lol.

Thankfully it was one of the 'prize every time' machines, Tony.

These machines are a bit like the checkouts in supermarkets when they have sweets and kid related things on display right where you queue up.knowing kids will play up and you're distracted seeing to the shopping.

The kids did get to play in the play area of the pub but then you get another problem.

There was a large sign saying  'ALL children MUST be supervised at ALL times' but there were several unsupervised kids being a nuisance because their parents couldn't be bothered and of course these kids are never in the wrong.Glad to say they weren't there long and didn't spoil our day

A prize every time, that's not to bad then.

I know what you mean about unsupervised kids in pubs, I remember when our two were little the only time we could take them in a pub was sometimes at seaside places they would have a "family room" which was usually the most horrible room in the pub with a tiled wipe clean floor and horrible formica tables with plastic chairs. If they didn't have a family room you had to sit outside if it was decent weather.

I'm not suggesting we go back to those days, I think it is good that families can go and have a meal in a pub but I wish some parents would keep an eye on their little darlings.

Yes Tony, £2 a go but at least you get something.

Your description of family rooms  brings back memories. Basic would be an understatement and sadly there are still some neglected family rooms around.

I'm pleased to say there has been an improvement nowadays and kids are allowed more readily though often with restrictions.

I think its unreasonable to expect kids to sit quietly and not move and you certainly can't help if a baby cries. The kids that annoy me are the one that race around screaming their heads off, banging into tables and trying to muscle in on whatever my grandkids are doing while their parents sit somewhere else ignoring them.

There is the other side of the coin, though, with pleasant kids just being friendly with no motive and parents who actually care.

Lovely picture of Harry with the Juve teddy. I hope he likes it as much as he seemed to at the pub, it was also funny when Joe was trying to take a photo of him with it and he kept moving his bands and messing about a little. Both Harry and Jake will love the teddies. It was a great night too.

They all enjoyed the day and its surprising what you find in those machines sometimes. Some really cheap soft toys and some nice ones :)
