Despite all playing above our level the only one to actually do well is big Wes Morgan, all the others mentioned have had pretty average careers and never really set the world a-light, best and mcgoldrick are half decent championship strikers but I can't say I'm sad we let any of them go other than Morgan who was in fact the nephew of the great Pedro Richards

@ohstanleyaborah Thanks for that interesting snippet... Wes being a nephew of Pedro Richards.  Makes his release from Notts even harder to take

Maybe he had an attitude on him as a teenager and deserved to be let go? Maybe he was just a late developer? It's easy to say we shouldn't have let player XYZ go with the benefit of hindsight, but it was probably totally justifiable at the time. I'm pleased for him that he's proven us wrong though (apart from his goal against us in the League Cup a few years back, we could have done without that).

As a side note, I believe McGoldrick and Best were snapped up by other clubs rather than being rejected by us.

This thread reminds me of David Platt - rejected by Man Yoo, came through the ranks at Crewe instead and went on to captain England.

Let's hope his cousin Jordan Richards is given a fair chance!

Don't quote me but I believe Morgan wasn't released by Notts.

I don't think he was under contract, as I recall comments made that certain things was 'cut' due to costs and I believe he's mentioned it. Most likely Forest was aware of this, as I also recall other players being lost around the same time due to other clubs picking them up.
