Traditional club doomed - maybe 2?

The Bundesliga relegation situation is as tight as the Premier League. With one game left Hannover 96 are doomed with the follwoing still in trouble

15th SG Eintracht Frankfurt 36 pts GD -17 - safe

16th SV Werder Bremen 35 pts GD -16 - play off position (against 1. FC Nuernberg (3rd in 2nd division)

17th VfB Stuttgart 33 pts GD -23 - automatic relegation

To complicate matters on the last day Bremen are at home to Frankfurt! Suttgart have to win at Wolfsburg by a lot to stand any chance. If they do, Werder have to beat Eintracht. Poor old VfB - 40 years since their last relegation and Champions only 9 years ago.

Other way around - if Stuttgart are to stand a realistic chance, they need Frankfurt to win, as they could then overtake Bremen on points and take the play-off position. To overtake Frankfurt they would need a six-goal swing on goal difference. It looks bleak for VfB, but I can't really bring myself to call them "poor". If they go down it'll be fully deserved.

Shame Hoppenheim scraped enough points to pull clear. Outstanding performance from Darmstadt to stay up against the odds though.

Indeed well done the to the Lilien, I'm glad that Borussia don't need to get anything there this Saturday. Will Darmstadt be increasing their ground capacity for next season do you know?

Next year for relegation I hope for Leipzig, Ho$$enheim and Ingolstadt to go, or VWburg.

Was originally planned for the off season I believe, but council is skint so put it back a couple of years. Even so, the projected capacity increase isn't a big leap.

VfB Stuttgart relegated due to losing at Wolfsburg. Eintracht into the relegation games against Nurnberg. Bremen saved by a goal in the 88th minute. Also relegated today (3 to 4) were Stuttgarter Kickers. Joining VfB Stuttgart II, also going from 3 to 4. Not a good day for football in Stuttgart!!

If you keep going to the barber's, sooner or later you're going to get a haircut. Have fun in LIga 2, VfB.

The presence of Stuutgarter Kickers and VfB II in a very strong fourth division next season is a very good reason to get the hell out of it!
