I can't see it at my end, and the embed shows funny. If Notts starts at Dover that's okay with me, it's not the worst start to a season. I just wonder if fans will be able to attend and if the limit will remain at 300 per attendance.

The news mentioned earlier that Cambridge hosted a game with either over 1,000 people in attendance or, near to that amount.

Nothing shows? I can't wait for the season to get underway though.

Interesting statement from the Dover chairman. Rumour has it that Dover are in real danger of folding before the end of the month. They somehow managed to avoid folding at the end of August but I think the Government's announcement yesterday is the end of them. I hope I'm wrong.

Interesting is one way to put it. What exactly are we delaying the season for? This problem isn't going to be fixed in 2 weeks, nor a month. 

When you accept that delaying the season won't solve anything, there's only 2 options left; proceed with difficulty or don't. The 'don't' option still means players have to be paid unless you can offload them to other clubs, which is difficult (near impossible) as nobody at this level is playing. This means the main financial burden, player's wages, are still there. All that is being avoided is the extra cost of training and match day, such as logistic expenses etc. 

The sad and hard truth is that some clubs will not survive this pandemic. Either we delay this season for a month so Dover can hold on for another couple of weeks before folding, or we proceed and clubs have to cut their cloth accordingly. 

This 'no fans, no start to the season' argument is complete bollocks. Only a lunatic would have been financially planning that this season would run as normal with 100% of fans. Quite clearly, whether it be local lockdowns or simply attendance capping, there was always going to be lost revenue for clubs. The only time this argument of 'no fans, no start to the season' makes any sense, is when you are already on your death bed, trying by any means possible to keep your head above water. Coincidentally, that is exactly where Dover are. 

 

If the season proceeds, as it should, and if we do manage to get 3 points, we should be hesitant in our jubilation; those 3 points will most likely be wiped come the season end due to Dover going bust.
