  5. Jarvis for me, did more in the 30 minutes he was on than the rest of the attackers had managed in the previous 60. Bennetts would have had a chance if … a) he’d played the whole game and b) we used him more as he was giving their full back nightmares. He was skinning him every time so they had to double up on him.
  6. I've got a lovely view from up here, only for a few days tho 🤣

  14. Good morning it’s a lovely bright start to the day but a tad chilly at only 3 degrees. 🥶 We are going to wrap up and go for a walk, we need a few bits from Morrisons so we’ll do a circular route to get our daily step target. How is everyone? What does the day have in store for you?
  15. Hard one to call, the defence wasn’t really that tested, they were so high up the pitch second half you would’ve mistaken them for midfielders. And then attack wise we struggled to break them down even though we were camped in their final third for the last 30 minutes of the match. The subs did make a difference, Palmer did what he does, he even had a shot that went just over (he's going to score this season, I can feel it). Jarvis won us the penalty he looked a tad lacking in confidence in times and he's not played regularly either but it was the right match and time for him for come on.
  16. I think this fan shirt is fund-raising for the club one step too far. I am happy to support the the club and buy merchandise to raise funds, but there is a limit to what you can buy and at £50 a shirt and more for families you begin to feel a little bit exploited, especially for something that is not really needed.
  17. I agree @Robbie subs can get a man of of the match. We have seen it with England recently. The likes of Jarvis coming on when defenders are tired can make a massive difference. I think in the modern game it's not about the starting eleven any more. The strategy to win a game involves the whole eighteen and the coach shows his skill in knowing when to make the changes. Martin Paterson is doing just that for me.
  18. I do believe that a substitute can become a man of of the match if they come on & change the game. Palmer, Dennis & Jarvis made a difference when they came on.
  19. Agreed @Piethagoram, that's probably what happened. The shirt certainly looks like it was intended to be worn during matches, with the current badge and sponsor on it. It looks like this will join the 2009-10 Vandanel shirt (the one Munto ditched for Nike) in the ranks of "Notts shirts that never were". Not one I find appealing, but maybe a curiosity in years to come.
  20. Good Morning all. It's a beautiful morning here. Who'd have thought we've had two weeks of constant rainfall. We are both busy this morning in the garden. Last lawn cut, and picking up the leaves and a general tidying up. Some of our flowers held on until last night but I think the frost has done for them. It is very chilly out and we are well wrapped up for the task.

  23. Palmer, the "cog" that gets the team to click.... for me I do hope Jarvis has worked his way into MP's good books, based on that performance too
  24. That sounds logical @Piethagoram if that is the case then I think we can forgive them, it’s certainly sounds like they might have been stuck with a load of shirts that couldn’t be used then some bright spark had the idea of selling them asa “fans shirt”, fair enough. I’ve never heard of a fans shirt before maybe if lots of fans buy them they’ll do one every season.
  25. If Matt Palmer had played more than just the second half, I think he would be up there because he massively helped us to get clicking. With all due respect to Tom Iorpenda, we clearly missed Palmer in the first 45 minutes. Scott Robertson was class throughout the game, calm on the ball, and bridging the gap that was missed by Palmer's absence in the first half, to showing that magic he has alongside someone who brings the best out of him. He looked strong on the ball and worked hard. He's notably improved since he came back, and he gives us a solid presence with his consistent performances. Yes, this is what I said to @super_pie. Early on for me it was Lucas Ness and Keanan Bennetts. Discussing with Jake, Nick Tsaroull and Scott Robertson was added to the mix. This was around the 30 minute mark, which is usually when I start to look for who has that 'drive' in their performance. Early yes, but the signs are there.

  27. On Magpie Circle podcast, Paul Mace offered the explanation that it was to be the 3rd kit this season but the EFL enforced an obscure ruling that shirts cannot have 2 different club emblems on them. I must admit this seems a tad harsh... and maybe Puma should have been aware of such rules? Hence the shirt being marketed as a Fans shirt. So a 3rd kit may still be coming?

  29. @Chris I wonder if this is wise being so close to the nest which is used by opposition fans for Forest matches, you can imagine trouble as opposing fans coming out of the nest and meeting up with Forest fans from their fan zone, a recipe for trouble surely.
  30. Why can't the club look to produce a copy of the 1894 cup winning shirt & put that on the market. I'm sure it would be a good seller?
  31. @Chris said: Conor Grant moves brilliantly; he's intelligent on the field and wins the ball back in situations where it could create a lively encounter. He does struggle at times to pick his pass, and yes, his finishing could do with work, but he's one of those unappreciated players that can move between the channels and into attacking positions in front of the opposition's D, and it just takes someone else to make the run for him to assist. I agree. He's so unappreciated & always seems to get the criticism from some Notts fans. The thing is, the Head Coach rates him or he wouldn't pick him. Grant is one of those unsung players who's work never seems to get noticed, but he is a vital member of the squad in my opinion.
  32. I agree, if Barry Cotter has been sent back I would be somewhat disappointed because all he needed was a run in the squad to get his fitness levels up. He was in and out, and that seems to impacted his performances but there's clearly a good player there. Whilst I think we have good options in his position, and perhaps he would fall behind, I think he would still be worth keeping but if he was to go back I would understand it. I would still be disappointed that we never got the most out of him, and his pre-season friendly goal against Cardiff is a clear sign of his quality.
  33. I went for Grant - partly because many of his 1st touches seem to elude many supporters. He’s aware, instinctive and creative. I thought he provided the spark, as opposed to Hall who seemed lethargic and off the pace until the last 20 mins. The obvious difference between the 2 halves was Palmer tho’. He provided a bit of stability and balance and also allowed Hall a bit more freedom. Robbo & Palmer together are an ideal combination in the centre of the pitch. We look a good side when they play together.

  37. Jarvis for me, he made a real difference when he came on and won a penalty that gave us a point. For that reason I voted for him.
  38. Scott Robertson had another good game, so did the defence. I do feel that the substitutions made all the difference for Notts in the 2nd half & Martin Paterson needs to take credit for that. I'd like to pick out Palmer, Jarvis, & Dennis who took his penalty well under pressure. I feel that putting the Skipper on in the 2nd half did give Notts the imputus to get the draw, so Palmer is going to be my PON man of the Match.
  39. A difficult one - I can see there being many nominated, or not many site members bothered to vote. I'll go for Robertson again, just over Ness and Tsaroulla. Bennetts, for the second game running, started really well and then faded quickly in the 2nd half (I think that's worth investigating). Why Robbo? He was busy, active and generally effective in what he did. No great shakes though, it was that type of afternoon.
  40. Shock horror yesterday, when Jake (@super_pie) noticed that the bar opening up across from the Navi is going to be Forest's fan zone. A bit bizarre of a placement for it. It was even confirmed by one of the bouncers of the Navi, that the cleared out area to the side is where it's going to be. I am not all that bothered, but I do think the location is daft and I fail to see how it will be any better than 'The Nest'. Surely, there's closer land that could be put to better use?
  41. My early season form has disappeared.
