Alan Hardy agrees deal to take over Notts County
What a brilliant gift for all of the real Notts fans who have been worried about our clubs future. I'm pleased Alan got the deal he wanted, I hope we can finally move forward and away from the era of uncertainty.

Mark Crossley: 'Ray Trew still backs John Sheridan'
This makes for bizarre reading, its almost like the Twilight Zone - I just don't understand the point of it. A manager wouldn't openly criticize the chairman or club.

Jon Stead to feature in Notts County reserve games in bid to improve fitness
Give him 20 minutes, just a run about - there's no point rushing him. He's vital towards us moving forward again, rather than going backwards and considering the potential tie in the F.A Cup, we will need to balance our priorities because the league is very important but the cup could pay the player. I mean be beneficial!

Blink1862: Notts County must put a stop to culture of uncertainty
The uncertainly is clearly a problem, as is not having someone else of the mouldings of Jon Stead. It would also seem to point out that the takeover talks do not help, but its very easy to point the finger and not accepting matters. The debts which don't ever seem to paid on time, it's just a self destruct button which anyone with sense or whom cares would avoid. Can we not just focus on the football?

Mark Crossley wants Notts County to show him "what they are made of"
You know what? It's time that everyone takes a share of the responsibility that things aren't working. Its not all the players fault, there's a lot of needless matters cropping up and its only obviously that the squad doesn't match the work rate we require to do well. This would fall upon management, so hopefully people can quit playing the blame game and just get on with turning it around. The longer this behaviour continues the holes will be dug, the harder the resolution will be in order to resolve and clearly we will be making it harder on ourselves. Wake up and accept it Notts!

John Sheridan: "I will work my socks off" to get Notts County promoted
I don't know your passion or desire John, but please make sure the 'players' work their socks off in order to gain promotion. If they are wearing almost perfect conditioned socks by full time, get rid in January and sign true grafters.

Notts Joe: John Sheridan still seems unsure of best Notts County line-up
Once again Notts stumble back to the drawing board, yet as a club, do we ever learn? It doesn’t seem that long ago that Jon Stead was League Two's Player of the Month, in fact it was only last September - but things seemed a lot more optimistic back then. With back-to-back defeats at the hands of Blackpool and more recently Newport County, it seems the Magpies are destined to pitifully play out the remainder of the games until the January transfer window opens up. The injury to Stead has proved a massive blow. I said this at the time and even warned prior to this misfortune that we were relying too much on him. That said, away performances have largely made the difference during the 2016-17 campaign and that's when we saw Adam Campbell step up from Stead's shadow. Twice he’s been our saviour, he helped earn Notts a replay against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup, but we haven’t seen many other players step up to the plate. Problem is, Notts are largely inconsistent and when things are merry, John Sheridan speaks of praise and, during lean times, he speaks of how it's unacceptable – even going as far as comparing the squad to a pub team. There’s nothing at all wrong with this, but I am increasingly becoming frustrated by his lack of faith in certain players, whilst others retain a starting place week in and out. He spoke more recently about welcoming the selection headache when it came to the squad that could be put out against Newport, with only Genaro Snijders, Robert Milsom and Graham Burke coming in after the terrible away performance to Blackpool. You may be wondering why I haven’t included the likes of Jordan Richards. I haven’t because I largely feel he’s been in and around the first team for a while and is well within the deserved list of having a run in the Notts squad. However, Robert Milsom and Graham Burke have largely been disappointing whilst Sheridan has been at the helm as the manager. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s right people are calling for his sacking or resignation – much of the issues we see on the pitch is largely down to years of mismanagement and poor decisions from various parties involved. It’s easy to point the finger, but the fact is we crave stability and this only comes in retaining someone who can carry out the required work. There’s not a big queue of good candidates out there prepared to come in and do this. I do wonder what has gone wrong these past few weeks, however all season it’s been quite poor with only patches of good spells – it's easy to forget when you're winning games and sitting in and around the play-offs. At this stage of the season Sheridan should have had the chance to experiment, yet it would appear as if he doesn’t know who is deserving of a starting place or even who should make our best eleven. Certainly I don’t feel Adam Collin should be number one, and yes I hear the phantom moans of ‘Scott Loach isn’t much better’ – however even he managed to make a small difference last year round. I at least hope to never hear or witness Alan Smith starting in any form of attacking position, which is another shame because I do feel at times he could have helped in midfield. Just not as someone regularly starting, as we have only just managed to out Alex Rodman from his favourite position – another player who along with Carl Dickinson I would hope remains out of the squad until they learn to fulfil their roles better. As things stand, I expect to see a few more disappointing performances and no doubt this will include some woeful results. I just hope that things start to pick up sooner or later, as these winter months are the perfect time to gain form – with the return of Stead and eventually the opening of the transfer window. Fingers crossed we can rid ourselves of some of the underperforming players who barely reassemble professional footballers in the hope that we can replace them, provided we don’t have further speculations of ‘ghosts’ appearing at Meadow Lane in the form of meaningless takeovers. John Sheridan: 'Notts County dominated Boreham Wood'
John Sheridan has praised Notts County for responding well to their 4-0 loss at Blackpool by dominating Boreham Wood in their FA Cup first-round replay. Goals by Jonathan Forte and Aaron Collins helped the Magpies claim a 2-0 win at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night, booking a date in the second round against Peterborough United. "It was a tricky game for us after Saturday, when we played so poorly and conceded four goals," Sheridan told the Nottingham Post. "It was a game we were expected to win, but I thought we dominated the game possession wise. "We played some really good stuff too. We got the goal in the first half and when it's 1-0 you are always on edge. "But Aaron has scored a worldie at the end, but the main job for us was to get through the tie. "We've got a good game against Peterborough, a team who are going really well. It will be a really good test for us. "It will be tough, Grant McCann is doing a really good job there. "I watched them on the television the other day and they are a good footballing side. "They are young and play the game in the right way. "I am looking forward to the game." Match Report: Blackpool rock after sticking it to shocking Notts County
So much for us going to thrash them and how much better off we are as a club, all these things make me cringe. That said, many of the travelling fans and at home deserved better - just take things game by games and avoid expecting 'easy' games because even this squad needs help. Hopefully John Sheridan will finally quit backing some, giving others a chance to feature. I mean Alan Smith upfront? What's going on there, it didn't work the last time we tried it.
-
John Sheridan: 'Notts County are mostly playing well in patches'
Well I for one hope that Blackpool doesn't dampen our camps mood, as I don't think the patches are long enough to receive praise. Yet we are doing 'okay', nothing solid or standing out but enough, hopefully better will come with consistency from certain players.

John Sheridan warns Notts County not to underestimate Boreham Wood
Yeah, we don't want another Salford do we? I haven't heard anything of it being televised but I have to be honest, I have bigger concerns as of late (which may upset trolls) but yeah we need to have a good run here in the cup ideally.

Luton's Alan Sheehan hails Notts County fans ahead of Meadow Lane return
I'm one of those who feels celebrating is only natural, so if he did - I can't say it would anger me. If you play with passion, its almost expected to release something after scoring but I would praise Alan for choosing not to do it.

Martin Allen describes half-naked pre-derby River Trent plunge at 5am
Happy days under Mad Dog, I know some feel he used his 'funny side' to distract from results but he never stood for nonsense and always made his team work hard. I have a lot of respect for him and the various rumours is quite funny, as I'm sure he's got a tale or two hidden a way elsewhere.

Match Discussion: Game 14 - Pompey (A)
We get results, then the support is lifted (which is what the club needs) - then a series of stale performances and it goes back. Fantastic result, those who write off Adam Campbell will have seen a glimpse that he can be a goalscorer. Let's hope my first part is the last of it and that all the players continue to progress. Did Campbell play as a striker or on the wing?

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Railwaymen (H)
I only noticed hours after the game that we had drawn 1-1, I went out with my family and bumped into a Stags fan who Noticed my Notts coat and he delightfully told me 'We beat you'. My response 'But did you win today?' He said they drew like us. Good point really, though from the sounds of it the performance didn't really match the effort of @Football in the Community. I have nothing but praise for their fantastic effort.

John Sheridan: 'I did not shout at Notts players after Morecambe defeat'
I hope he used carefully placed words that not only expressed his disappointment but that of the fans too. You can't always shout, yet two bad games - something needs to give.

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Railwaymen (H)
Honestly, I think we'll lose to Crewe - not that the performance won't be better but I think we'll fall back a bit more in order to move forward. We seem to be like that, winning breeds confidence and we play better - yet one setback and we fall upon awkward times. The players really need to remind themselves why they enter the field of play, self motivate themselves and just smarten up with what they do on a pitch. Mansfield really shouldn't be our undoing, yet it seems to be going down that route. The performance needs to be spot on, we need to keep our faith in Sheridan and hopefully after a bit of time we will get our form back.

John Sheridan wants more aggressive starts from Notts County
We tend to lose games where we seem to throw caution to the wind and just go out all attacking, I would rather see Notts be patient and build chances carefully. Problem with Notts is we rush, put pressure on ourselves - we end up losing a couple of games and then we are back to square one. I don't see Crewe being pushovers at all.
-
Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shrimps (H)
I wonder how we will perform today? Watch Morecambe arrive wanting to prove a point and we struggle - then the game ends in a boring draw. I just hope we hit them with clever attacking football and seal a good victory.

Notts Joe: Notts cannot let the Mansfield defeat become their undoing
Going into the local derby game against Mansfield, I had stated on the Pride of Nottingham community and to various fans when talking – Notts needed to go aiming to prove a point. What actually happened, however, was just more disappointment against our big rivals in the division. It’s easy enough to write off a defeat, yet things had been building quite nicely and I hope the postponed game against Morecambe and the EFL Trophy loss Rochdale don't become basis for any excuses. Notts just doesn’t seem to have the fight for local derbies, we go into them with a fair bit of hype from what is released to the local media – yet fall dramatically short when it comes to the actual performance. After going level at 1-1, you would expect this to be the turning point for a lively encounter, which would have given us some pride. However, once again Mansfield got the better of us and we really need to set this record straight when we play them at Meadow Lane – losing isn’t the end of the world but surely it’s got to be done to giving some form of fight to the opposition? Tuesday night will see the Morecambe game take place, and I am sure there will be quotes about undoing ‘wrongs’ or on par with that. Yet we just need to need to remain grounded and continue the work effort that we have witnessed as of late. Our away form in the 2016-17 League Two season has helped massively with overturning a lack of optimism in the Notts camp, yet this greatly lacks at Meadow Lane. Performances just haven’t been up to scratch, however much signs of improvements have or haven’t been made. We need to avoid allowing the Mansfield game becoming this season's undoing. Yet whatever the outcome John Sheridan is delivering us a reasonable level of stability, which will only improve with added time and of course his own signings. I asked in a discussion if we needed a centre back and a striker come January, and the responses seemed to be mixed – yet after talking again to various people, it seems we may need to add a little more strength to the ranks after Mansfield. Naturally we will need to release some of the players who don’t seem to interest Sheridan, I wonder who the fans think we can afford to release? I expect Graham Burke to be mentioned within there. I think, however, that he’s the type of young player who we should be pushing for more than we seem to be doing. Likewise with Genaro Snidjers – I think he should be given a run and a chance to prove himself over a period of games. I don’t mean cup matches, but actual league games where it will highlight far more. The 2016-17 squad has depth and the ability to win home games, I was worried that after the increase of positivity all it would take is a couple of defeats to return to the level it was at prior and losing in a derby game does exactly that. Yet despite Alex Rodman’s comments, I do think we have a lot to focus on and we have some good games where the players can prove their point. And to a degree I still think we are relying on Jon Stead’s form to win us those important games, yet this is exactly why I want to see more of the squad fighting for a chance to start more regularly. Fans seem to suggest that Sheridan won’t give players a chance, naturally only sticking to his own signings, but at times you must. Hopefully after a few weeks the Mansfield game won’t be the talking point that it was during last season’s bitter campaign. Alex Rodman: 'Notts County need to look at the bigger picture'
For me, we just don't seem to have the metal when it comes to fighting in local derbies. Perhaps its because over the last few seasons we haven't had many of this nature, Chesterfield used to be lively and fun encounters but I don't know - something needs to give. You can win, lose and the majority will except it, especially if there is that fight but I always felt we would struggle if they played how did (which was the opposite to own game

John Sheridan disappointed with Notts conceded goals at Rochdale
Just comeback stronger against Mansfield, all Notts fans want to see a good game - so defend bravely. I doubt anyone is overly bothered about losing to Rochdale (fan wise) especially since it was in the EFL Tinpot Cup.
-
Match Discussion: EFL Northern Group F - The Dale (A)
Hopefully this holds no impact on our form, yet I can't help but feel it is poor to go 1-0 up and then to allow the team you was beating to take the lead 2-1. Are we out of this abysmal cup yet?

John Sheridan vows to keep Jon Stead "heavily involved" at Notts County
Haha! Don't do that, I've already admitted he's proved his worth and how I was wrong. That said we shouldn't be relying on because if he gets injured who will score the goals we require to win games? So far, Jon Stead is our main outlet and without him on fire - we wouldn't be doing so well. PS. I recall Ray posting on MAD recommending fans make suggestions regarding talent, I wonder if he would ask us to do it now?
