  1. When I first was told about this, I thought it was probably for the best - however I now think it sounds like a messy divorce and not something you would see in football. Cooper's in the right but I'm not sure it's best for it to be aired in the media, there's no doubt Liam Noble's played his part and will now move on.
  2. Can we write the game off? We need a bit of optimism from this going into the Carlisle game, however I don't really see it happening. I just hope Newport don't thrash us, which would be a bad result. Still, I would like to see some of the youngsters given more time and please don't start Alan Smith alone up front. That's my only wish. 3-1 to them is my prediction!
  3. Good luck with that, I have my doubts but winning the last two games would be nice - I just don't see it happening. I am more worried about Carlisle (last game of the season). It would be depressing to lose at home in that game.
  4. Mark Cooper's magpies' unfortunately suffered their third back-to-back defeat, as Shaun Derry's Cambridge United triumph away from home. The U's Luke Berry opened up proceedings as he charged down County keeper Scott Loach's clearance and the ball flew into the far corner of the net. County pulled back on level terms as Haydn Hollis met a Liam Noble free-kick. However, Ben Williamson got the winner after a goalmouth scramble. -- Pride of Nottingham's Notts-Joe and Joe Jones prior to the Cambridge United game on the 23/04/2016 took to asking Magpie' fans key questions. 5. Sorry about the delay, please do watch - share etc. I haven't been able to upload this due to broadband issues. There's a very funny moment towards the back end of the video, however it's all well worth watching but see what happened to @Joe Jones during the answering of the questions. whaha hahaha!

  8. On Saturday 23 April, Notts County played host to Cambridge United at Meadow Lane. The U's, managed by former Magpies player and manager Shaun Derry, made it a happy homecoming for the Nottingham-born boss as they clinched a 2-1 victory. Pride of Nottingham's dedicated media team was on hand to interview Notts fans prior to the game and ask them a number of questions regarding the fixture, the happenings behind the scenes, and their hopes for next season. Here are their responses - thank you for watching and thank you to the fans who kindly spoke to Pride of Nottingham. 9. Fans that spoke to me after the game said that Cambridge could have beaten us by a greater margin, certainly I felt a better team would have been able to do that - no disrespect to Cambridge but many of their attacks, looked to me, as if they wasn't sure what to do with the ball. However, they did well and built play up nicely. The disallowed goals show us that it could have been a different story, so for me, I think it highlights the work required to improve the defence for next season and have a more capable team to break down opposition sides.
  10. Please, please, please.... Let's not play Alan Smith upfront on his own again, it's very ineffective. Yes he worked hard, however him in that position didn't work and just added pressure. I'm not blaming him, not at all but we will only struggle. Once Lartey Sarpong and Motel Gibson came on, we looked more mobile and in turn more likely to score. It wasn't a very good performance yesterday, if I was the assistant I would state that.
  11. It looked more like a deliberate trip to me, I suppose only the highlights will confirm it out not (either that or specsavers) -edit- Oooooooo, he did kick out. That certainly is a red! My view certainly didn't make it seem like he lost his temper originally but the highlights, well, erm, highlight it better.
  12. I wasn't impressed by Cambridge but they deserved the win, Notts just wasn't in the game - not even when we scored. Their first goal, disbelief. How could Loach make that mistake? Well, I think he's struggling with confidence. He looked nervous throughout and I thought he was quite poor today but so was a lot of the squad. Noble's sending off was daft, never a red but I fear its goodbye from him. The sad thing is we never seemed to know how best to play the ball, nor how to use it to create anything. Cooper's changes gave us something different but because everyone was underperforming - it made it harder for Sarpong and Gibson. I felt sorry for them in truth, to which I'm pleased now Mark Cooper didn't start them. Its not fair to them, it really isn't.
  13. I was surprised by how many fans wasn't bothered or felt he wasn't good enough, as prior to Ricardo he was a solid fan favourite and then boom he's gone. Jimmy's a good player, we never played to his strengths but when do we do this for a striker? The last one I recall who suited our play is Hughes, who knew exactly what those around him would do but Jimmy, Izale and others haven't had this. Today will be close in my opinion, we just need to take our time when chances present themselves and defend heroically. I'm not confident of the win, however much I hope it to be the case but a draw - that is something I do think is possible. I also do not blame Cooper, he's not got a player in the dressing room which he brought here and as I said when he came, it would be handy to have one or two. COYP!
  14. It's a shame it didn't work out under him, however we are here and you can't really look back. I'm sure the majority will appreciate he tried his best - the home record being the thing which ruined us but I have always said I believe he will be a good manager, so good luck to him at Cambridge.
  15. @DangerousSausage Don't tell me you've only just suddenly joined us? I hate to say it, but there's only three games left. You might as well see it out now.
  16. Anyone worth their salt in management starts early, it's the best way to recruit - as with out of contracted players, you can snap them up earlier. Hopefully Cooper is here to remain and will bring some excitement per the signings he may potentially attract to Notts. COYP!
  17. Hopefully Cooper does opt for some fresh faces/youths, yet we must be mindful that the timing isn't ideal but if it works it will surely be accredited to him as manager. If it fails or doesn't pay off, well so be it.
  18. He's given some indication during his interviews that we probably won't see a team consisting of youths/reserves. Most likely, we will see some regulars but with the key areas in which we need to improve on having those additions. The right side of defence is an area where we can afford to give a youngster a chance, centre of defence is a different thing but provided we perform better - there won't be any complaints who plays. MC's list should be quite clear, even by now who is up for fighting and who isn't. Regardless, it will be interesting to see the line-up!
  19. I like Cooper's honesty and approach, it's refreshing - I'm not sure all will like it but from the fans perspective it shows that we and the manager see things the same. I hope he does field some of the youngsters, yet we should be wary of rushing them but there's certainly little harm in giving them a run. Tell it like it is Mark! In the words of @magpiejue 'show 'em what your made of'. COYP
  20. It's difficult for Cooper, he's got to deal with the hand he's accepted and there's not much he can change. The squad could have worked, I feel it should have but for one reason or another it hasn't. Martin Allen is right about it, unlike some that have played us - he's commenting because of his 'pride' for our club. *Sigh...
  21. Mark Cooper will certainly be scratching his head. His most recent comments regarding knowing what is the dressing room makes for interesting discussion, yet the players have the chance to settle under some one who has a good understanding of football - they should repay him and do what he instructs. I think if he is still here, he'll de-weed those who are letting Notts County FC down. Thankfully, he isn't blaming the wrong area. Good read Tom! Cheers
  22. Well the defence needs sorting, as does the midfield - we need them to mark properly. Will Cooper play the youths? I think he will throw a few into the mix. At this stage it doesn't really matter who plays, provided they give 100% and they do their duties on the field. I would like to see Gibson partner someone upfront, however I am unsure if it should between Stead or McLeod. I know fans are fearful Cambridge will get another impressive result as they did last night but Morecambe aren't exactly setting the world alight. Wasn't it Morecambe who bragged about being Real Madrid of the lower tier of English football after beating us? *Sigh....
  23. The players just seem to lose it once the opposition team gets a taste for the game. I feel sorry for Loach because he sounded like he kept us in it in the first half, yet the defence failed to protect him in the second. Once they scored from the penalty, I had the feeling we would skin. It's not Cooper's fault though, the players should have the fight themselves to overcome the defeat - they are professional players. *Sigh
  24. Awful result, I'm shocked. They clearly don't have confidence or the desire to fight - we are lucky to be safe. Brilliant interview by Cooper though.
  25. There we go, the reason why we need two goals. Why do we always end up doing something daft like giving a way a penalty? It's been described as 'soft' and Mark Stallard says he doesn't know if it was or wasn't. There is one thing to be said, the hard work in the first half has been undone.
