I've spoken about this on here and on social media, being shot own in the process because people want to see our own lads given that chance (though most would be inspired by players like Bola) - among those who are simply not ready to start regularly. So, for me - it makes sense. If we was doing well and had the likes of Grealish, McGregor, Ritchie, Judge fans would soon want it.- Match Discussion: Game 40 - The U's (H)
A few months back, some fans would be ripping into him for this but the case is he was simply a spectator. I'd have done more! I stand by the above, not to single him out but hopefully he will work on his performances.- Chris Buckley: Adam Campbell was a spectator against Colchester
- Chris Buckley: Adam Campbell was a spectator against Colchester
The spirit shown by the Notts County squad against Colchester United was very impressive β from the kick off our team looked interested and keen to get a result. Whilst there was still some concern with the defence for me, for the most part we looked the better outfit. I do however have one gripe with Adam Campbell, who simply allowed the game to pass him by. In recent weeks I had been calling for him to be given a chance, and prior to Saturday I felt that he may be suffering from a lack of confidence, but even now I find it very hard to defend his performance against the Uβs. It simply wasnβt acceptable for me under this passionate Kevin Nolan side. Saturday was Campbellβs first start in the Notts XI since Accrington Stanley back at the turn of the new year β for over 3 months he has largely been an unused sub sitting on the bench and I would acknowledge that normally he offers 100% in terms of effort but I didnβt feel we saw half of that on Saturday. Itβs disappointing to watch a player casually walk around and generally refusing to move into space or to be that player that can help create a chance. After 8 minutes, Notts took the lead and this gave a massive boost of confidence to the approach the Magpies took. Yet during the celebration, I noticed that out of the various players who ran as flock to congratulate Haydn Hollis for his opener β Campbell strolled very slowly but remained out of the cheerful harmony between those really up for it. It was hard to picture what his exact role was, if he was playing as our left-sided midfielder - his pace could have been interesting to see in a direct approach. Donβt get me wrong, I actually think he has potential and I would recall his earlier performances when we as a club were doing well. Thatβs the Campbell I would have liked to see feature, the player who tries to get involved and always wants the ball played to his feet. However, after Saturday itβs hard to defend him or to acknowledge any potential that would warrant a new contract. Heβs not the only player I felt played below an acceptable level, with a replacement fit on the bench β itβs not hard to figure out who I mean. Yet from a team performance perspective this offender was contributing to the cause and generally did look like he was trying β which I would naturally give him credit for but in Adamβs defence, I simply canβt say that. After the player who Iβll leave from naming put in a poor challenge, Adam stood glued as a spectator β as he did for the majority of the game. Robert Milsom noticed the space that was made available from the lack of concentration, which I personally feel the watching Campbell should have noticed β perhaps he did? I wouldnβt take anything away from Chris Porter's finish. It was class, yet considering the improvements made across the field in terms of performance and individual responsibility, this wasnβt on. Before you think Iβm blaming him for the goal, this isnβt my point β itβs the lack of effort on his behalf that annoyed me. Thereβs a lot of passion being shown throughout the squad and yes itβs a large improvement, even Jorge Grant's comments to the Uβs keeper made me smile after Shola Ameobi had scored his first goal of the game. I just feel it was a lost opportunity for Campbell to stamp his mark on returning to the starting 11. Iβd like to have seen him running at players or just trying to get involved more, a player like him could attract space β whereas this isnβt the case when heβs static. He spoke after the game about it being βgood to be back playingβ but it didnβt look like it at all to me. I know Iβm not the only Notts fan who feels this, there were plenty of comments expressed at half time and even during the game. If I sound like this harsh, you should have heard the calls for him to exit the field from where I sat. If he retains a place against Carlisle United, I would expect to see a large improvement β as it's hard to see how he would warrant a contract extension. As an opinion that was expressed to me, heβs had two years now and he repeatedly fails to capture a steady flow of performances β which perhaps his work rate may have saved but if this is the level we have to accept we are best releasing him. Honestly, I wasn't convinced by him upon his arrival but I must admit he's found his form as of late. He's entertaining to watch, even when he's not as involved as you would like. His knock offs and general skills isn't that of your regular striker. He deserved to see-out the game regardless - I actually hoped he would get his hattrick. Also Jorge Grant deserved a goal, perhaps even Robert Milsom.- Video Discussion: Shola Ameobi at the double

- Meet the Fans: Notts County vs. Colchester United, Saturday 1 April 2017
Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane on Saturday 1 April to see Notts County take on Colchester United. The Black and White Army was treated to a great performance from the Magpies, which culminated in a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Haydn Hollis and Shola Ameobi. The result meant that Notts maintained a 13-point gap between themselves and the bottom two in League Two, giving them yet another massive boost in their fight against relegation. PON spoke to a number of Notts fans before the game to get their opinions on a number of subjects, including whether they thought the club was safe or to wait until mathematical certainty, and which out-of-contract players should be offered a new deal at the end of the season. I should have wrote 'Centre Back' instead of Left Back. He avoided it like the plague! He was beaten virtually every time, when covering corners - he hung onto players behind (he should be in front or level). It allowed players to beat him even in the air, he did okay going forward when he did but mostly he was very disappointing. Watch their goal, he should have cleared the ball and after even had the nerve to blame Hollis. LOL Adam Campbell made no effort today, he was bone idle and very disconnected from the team. Poor distribution but one good shot that was blocked.- Match Discussion: Game 40 - The U's (H)
The last few home games have been a different level of enjoyment for me, not just because Notts have performed very well in the games but because the atmosphere was brilliant and the fans are really up for it. I love speaking to people, even random people and I get a lot of people approaching me. In fact before the kick off, I spoke to a 75 year old fan who was quizzing me about my camera. Have to say I loved hearing the stories of former players, reminded me of the past when I heard tales of legendary Notts players. As for the game, we started off very smooth and confident. Even after 2-3 minutes you could tell how much we wanted to win and I was pleased for Hollis after getting the opening goal. Only criticism for me would be Carl Dickson and Adam Campbell - along with our inability to defend crosses. Colchester had all the time in the world to float or drift in passes, we neither attempted to block, put them off our head the ball away. If players are self aware about heading, then they need to get closer. Dickinson acted like he was a left back, I felt he played very poorly today. Yet Adam Campbell really hasn't earned my recent backing, he looked idle and very uninterested. Seriously he barely moved and would constantly tell others to get tight (despite the fact he never did). Great team performance overall and very dynamic midfield play for us which was both enjoyable and lethal to watch. AND WE HAVE TWO STRIKERS WHO CAN BAG GOALS WHEN PRESENTED CHANCES. Brilliant result. Also credit to @Modern Notts Fan ???? who put up with me. I'm also told I met @wacky (who I hope to say hello to properly in the future) COYP!!- Match Discussion: Game 40 - The U's (H)
I'll be setting off soon, fingers crossed for an entertaining game and nobody leaving during the half time. It would be a shame if people ended up missing goals and a much more entertaining 45 minutes. It will be interesting to see the player ratings after the game, though I still feel like we might not win. A draw wouldn't be bad.- Kevin Nolan delighted to have support of Notts County chairman after Leyton Orient troubles
Full support and a chairman who allows his manager to do the work required, both Nolan and Hardy deserve praise and I hope that this continues into next season because this form now - during a new campaign could see Notts become a totally different club. But it is nice to see people enjoying Meadow Lane.- Stat Attack: Notts County vs. Colchester United, Saturday 1 April 2017
- Carl Dickinson recalls 10-match losing run: 'I didn't want to be near my family'
My point is, he never did anything 'positive' to overcome it and his comments about his family show an extremely poor attitude (one I have seen quite often when he does play). Footballers should never allow the game to effect their personal lives, 10 games isn't the worst outcome and if he was focused - perhaps family support would have helped him when taking to the field? It's a team game though, so why make your family suffer because of that? Under Sheridan I often spoke/wrote about 'morale' and 'confidence', but the above highlights his very poor attitude. He says he's a positive person, the quotes would suggest others. I'd sympathize if he suffered from a mental illness but he ******* during games, match officials, our own players/opposition. He's just got a very poor attitude at the day and it wasn't that long people was reminding me our players are supposed to be professionals.- Carl Dickinson recalls 10-match losing run: 'I didn't want to be near my family'
