  1. There's people on here that I consider to be friends and I know them in person. All was known via PON, except for the odd few who I started talking with at games. I have gone to games at times on very rare occasions with friends. When we played Coventry in the playoffs of League Two, I invited a friend who supports Spurs and his stepson. I used to sit with two regulars before they became busy with live, however now it's just me, @super_pie and @callum2569. My brother is a Notts fan, @super_ram is in spirit due to supporting Derby. My girls like Notts, although they aren't as interested any more in football, my youngest @CutiePie does get excited when I come home to say how we have done though.
  2. Sunderland 1-0 Huddersfield Town Burton Albion 0-2 Bolton Wanderers Exeter City 2-2 Derby County (Joker) Carlisle United 1-0 Stockport County Crawley Town 1-2 Colchester United Grimsby Town 0-0 Barrow Altrincham 0-2 Dagenham & Redbridge Halifax Town 3-1 Bromley
  3. I know, we'll look back on the defeats and think those are the games which could've won the league - yet nobody could imagine how dominant ourselves or Wrexham would be. It appears that our prior setbacks gave Notts an extra push to succeed. We had a stretch where our play seemed overthought during away games, causing us to struggle. This season has been incredible. If you're to gain promotion you want to be gaining records and causing pressure to your rivals. I think both clubs have benefitted from the close competition. I felt a little unsure leading into the season, until I saw the Alfreton game. I then posted my thoughts about how I felt we would do, I wasn't far off, but I had predicted that we would fall back around Christmas. The Notts players did their utmost to keep it going for much longer than that and even now, they're doing the unthinkable. I feel quite positive about the playoffs, although that's me in a nutshell. I always try to see the bright side!
  4. At least, I am in good company @DangerousSausage and @nottsnutter.
  5. The argument can be made as to why they don't get two promoted teams, opening it up would make a difference. 3 teams should come down from the English Football League. 3 teams should go up for the National League. I also do feel that two teams from each of the North and South divisions should get a chance to play in the National League. When the Premier League idea was floating around, they planned for only one team to go up, thankfully it went more inline with the football league system. Even the EFL have made sensible adjustments over the years, which is why the National League needs to reflect on this.
  6. The Roberto Chicksen one is class, I think the first still needs a bit of work to smooth things out, but it could work. I'm picturing it being sung in my head and, I am quite detailed with my past of writing poetry and song lyrics. "Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite!" sounds fine, it's the filling between which I would tinker with further if I had written them. Something as simple as 'Our' in front of the Number 19, with pace and might, scored some goals, he's quite a sight, Makes it seem that extra polished and, I know it's a very simple suggestion but might and sight are quite a common rhyme. I also like the one about Luke Williams. I think that's creative.
  7. These type of games do tend to be difficult, just as it was against Wrexham. Woking had pressure with the fact that Chesterfield could and did go above them as a result of them losing and Eastleigh failing to make a 2-0 lead count against the Spiriates. The first half wasn't pretty for either teams, but I thought Notts moved the ball around nicely at times. I know there are a lot of expectations for the players to play swift, fast-paced attacking play but that style only works when you're comfortable on the ball. No one should expect the players to dominate a team that is clearly at a lower level, especially when both teams are still trying to figure each other out. Possession was a challenge for Woking as they struggled to hold onto the ball. However, our players effectively regained control in a noteworthy manner. The issue for Notts was that in the first half, the majority of crosses wasn't great, and it seemed more a case of hit and hope. That lack of quality from the out wide spaces, with Jodi Jones only being the exception, caused Woking some real trouble. We should've moved the ball through the centre of the park, as there would've been more space at times. They made it hard for Notts to find space, hence why we ended up going backwards a lot of the time. I had the feeling that Sam Slocombe probably shouldn't have started, his kicking wasn't his usual standard, but he did fine otherwise. Second half Notts grew into it more, Woking started to slow their game down and then the space became more visible. Notts picked up the tempo, causing the chances to become more fluid. We do rely on the channels to create chances and, with the play being more open, it allowed Adam Chciksen to pick out Matt Palmer. The pass to Sam Austin for the opening goal was a lovely move and that gave us the confidence to wrap up the game. 3-0 and a clean sheet, the first half should be forgotten and not dwelled on. It's important to maintain high standards, but it's equally important to balance things out when you're preparing for a final promotion push. I mean, the fact Wrexham has more pressure not to slip up in their final two games, it's crazy.
  8. It does come across as quite childish from Luke Williams, to openly say in a post-match press report that he gave the players the ultimatum. Whichever he's going to say excuses or give a good reflection on the team's performance. I also get what @liampie is saying. I do think it's for a reaction, but these types of things can be created destructive. I thought both teams were quite poor, but the better chances did come to Notts who forced some awkward saves from their Keeper. It's hard to say if this approach is a good thing all round, but something should remain between manager and players. I personally feel that a manager should protect his players to a degree and not show frustration because the first 45 minutes wasn't quite up to scratch. @CliftonMagpie might be right that he's annoyed about the Wrexham defeat, maybe he's actually just trying to play mind games. I don't know, I didn't like some of what he said. I thought he could've avoided it and, then, it would have been more balanced.
  9. Pure joy when the first goal went in, each of the three goals got a mighty roar of support and passion from the stands. I thought the atmosphere was quiet for the most part and, I know it comes down to what is displayed on the pitch, but sometimes that extra encouragement helps to surge the players on. I love how Kyle Cameron and Aden Baldwin come running to the KOP clapping at the start. Likewise, we had two moments when John Bostock tried to spark that support from the crowd and I do think it makes a difference.
  10. It's been something that has been said for a while, I think most struggling League two teams wouldn't want relegation expanding to 3 teams. It's a lottery with promotion right now. Is it the Scottish Championship where a team gets to play a team from their Premier League to see either stay where they are or, if one goes up and the other down? I like how teams in the National League are rewarded for finishing higher up, but if promotion and relegation rules were changed to 3 up and 3 down, it could push teams to the North and South divisions. Additionally, determining which team would be the third to move up could become a challenge. Is it a one-off-match against both 2nd places? Personally, I think it should be 4 teams that are relegated because it would force them awful teams like Dover to take the league far more seriously. As for promotion, 3 up would work just fine. One automatic spot and one through the playoffs. Some teams could benefit from spending a few seasons in the National League. We were able to benefit from our own hard reset. Simply, the club couldn't continue to paper over the cracks.
  11. When I was younger, probably around 6 or 7. I remember watching a documentary with @super_ram and feeling disturbed seeing what played out. I couldn't understand why such a disaster would occur, when football to me seemed so safe. I remember the documentary showing a scene where young fans, ages around my own at the time, were trampled on and squashed to their deaths. I found it very disturbing, but also very important to learn about. It was such a sad thing to watch, especially when things had dispersed and those bodies still remained on the ground. When Notts played Liverpool in the League Cup, I spent some time with @super_pie showing him the memorial.
  12. @DangerousSausage How do you know there is a universe where you are that clever?
  13. Woking will want to win, I think they'll start bright and make it hard. I am hoping we do make a few changes, nothing over the top but just sensible changes. I'd choose Jodi Jones over Arron Nemane and figure out an alternative for Adam Chicksen, like bringing in Kyle Cameron or giving Frank Vincent a shot instead. He needs time; a break would do him wonders. Adam also knows there's limited competition, so it's a difficult thing for Luke Williams to manage that type of situation. For the record, I don't think he's himself for a few games, but he's still a very important player and starting against Woking isn't remotely as important as getting him back ready for the playoffs. I think allowing Ruben Rodrigues to sit on the bench and give Cadwyn Scott or Junior Mendes the start should also be considered. The rest of the team writes itself, Matt Palmer is the heartbeat in midfield and John Bostock works well with him. To conquer Woking, we must exploit their defenders' vulnerabilities by flanking them. However, including Nemane in the game might not benefit us unless he enhances his defence capabilities.
  14. I'll throw this out there, his legacy doesn't just stop at Notts. It will continue with the clubs he's been involved in, the players he's met and looked out for, which is an amazing thing for a CEO. However, at Notts, it's clear that his professionalism has had an effect on the staff and clubs day-to-day operations. I am sure that both the Reedtz brothers are truly thankful for having a person of Turners experience to assist them in rebuilding the club. Whilst I do not know of things that he did introduce to Notts, during his time things did improve on and off the field, some of those areas will no doubt be down to the way he went about his work. If anything, I hope the friendliness and outgoing means becomes an ethos for staff of the club to strive for.
  15. I know some fans may see this as a curse, but it hasn't impeded the success of either Luke Williams or Macaulay Langstaff before. I am pleased for both parties, plus the club. It's well deserved, as both have done wonders.
  16. Blackpool 2-0 Wigan Athletic Watford 1-1 Bristol City Lincoln City 0-1 Port Vale Shrewsbury Town 1-3 Portsmouth (Joker) Carlisle United 2-0 Northampton Town Swindon Town 1-1 Barrow Chesterfield 2-0 Eastleigh Torquay United 0-0 York City
  17. Macaulay Langstaff has enjoyed two successful seasons with us and, Gateshead. I believe he will stay for the next season even if sold towards the end, since he still has two seasons left on his contract. Notts and Langstaff can grow together, so promotion is important. I think the fact he sees that at Notts we have the foundations to be successful, and he has the ability to build on his current legacy. After the Wrexham game, I talked to some people about my thought that he might try to break the all-time goalscoring record. So, if we can get promoted this year, I think this will be something that motivates him. If we miss out, I think he will still stick around and try to get the club up. I just don't think a club will throw the money required to sign him from us just yet and, the figure in my head isn't met, then I would be frustrated if we did let him go. Considering other players like Jamie Vardy have gone for more.
  18. Key things are to remain focused, put aside any disappointment and stick to what works. It's been interesting to see how Adam Chicksen has kept his place in the team. He usually plays a defensive role with minimal involvement in attacks, but in the game against Wrexham, he seemed to have been given more attacking responsibilities. He really needs to have a rest. It's clear, he needs a bit of time and perhaps Kyle Cameron or Frank Vincent can provide that? All we fans can do is get behind the players when we watch them, let them know we're behind them and try to put aside the feelings caused by Wrexham. There will be pressure, but this is where we need to see Luke Williams management come into play. He needs to take as much pressure of the players as possible, he needs to make sure we are selecting players who are fit and able to give 100%. Leading into the playoffs, we just need to do our homework and continue to push as we have done all season.
  19. Reform will happen if fans and clubs push for it, just like the contract agreement which most of the captains of National League teams signed should go along way to being heard. The difficulty of gaining promotion makes this division: A) harder, B.) more competitive and C) unfairer on teams that do perform well. I like the idea that 2nd and 3rd miss out on playing in the early stages of the playoffs. Yet I do think two automatic places is something the league must adapt to.
  20. Hello, @Dry Nelson Ray. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  21. Mullun wasn't the difference, he was a constant threat but all the better work came from players behind him. Mullin did well when he wasn't creating chances to score from the spot or knocking out Ruben's tooth. There's no mention of the effect that Chicksen and Nemane had, their defensive duties were very absent and that made it harder for the back 3. I do agree, Mendy did very well. He looks an awesome player and out of the Wrexham squad, he's genuinely the only player I would take and bring to Notts if I had the power. Going forward, he was lively, and he defended extremely well. I don't think Ruben looked like a player who had pressure; he looked like he wasn't fully fit. Unfortunately, Bajrami was poor, and it just doesn't stop with the defensive errors. He gave the ball away, more than Rawlinson, Cameron, Rodrigues and Bostock combined. I agree with comments here, that Rawlinsons slow pace, the lack of Cameron's awareness (mostly due to wanting to attack more), Baj's failure to cope with pressure. The lack of support defensively from Chicksen and Nemane placed a lot of responsibility on an already weak area. Whilst these did well as individuals, they didn't as a defensive unit and that made things the hardest. Yet, a lot of credit to the way Wrexham played forced much of the headaches we witnessed. It's an interesting insight, but most doesn't seem to fit what someone more knowledgable of the players might say. I mean, there are bits that make sense but a lot more seems to be getting forced into the hole to suite the opinion or narrative that they perceive.
  22. Well, I would say it's typical of Americans to loosely allow secret documents that are of this nature freely become leaked. They can keep documents censored for years, but something which could spark war, worse retaliation or just further madness isn't protected well enough. Then again, it's the type of thing I could see someone leaking because someone higher up suggested it. You know, the old: "We didn't want this getting out, but here you go, don't tell anyone." - now the media can freely report on what we've found out, so that it can cause mass hysteria. Maybe, even to force people to read too much into the politics of what is happening. It's just incredibly stupid and @liampie sums things up very well.
  23. I don't think there can be multiple versions of me living out different lives, such as being a professional athlete or a renowned poet. Maybe even something else, like living with a different family. It just becomes too far from a stretch for me. That said, I understand why it's interesting and why people will debate it. Yet, it's unlikely that proof will ever be had, this discussion reminds me of one of my favourite YouTube channels called "The Why Files". Both videos related to this subject, but the first is the one which explains things about the multiverse.
  24. Yes, a retake should've happened. Cadwyn Scott stepping up was a brave decision, one which I don't like seeing fans blame him for because it's like when a player misses an open net. It happens, it doesn't mean they should be ridiculed or abused over it, thankfully these types of attitudes are few and far between. The penalty was hit with power, in a good place and Ben pulled off the save. If he blazed it over the bar, hit the corner flag or fell over shooting, then I would understand it a bit more, but nothing abusive. It's just disappointing, discussions and balance are important. Knee-jerk reactions fall under the annoyance bracket for me, calling a player out or saying he's s**t etc, just because of one miss. It's a joke, which isn't funny! @TheCalFoster sent me this, so it's thanks to him for revealing where this information came from, but @Fozzy you may be interested. In Ben Foster's vlog there's a moment where a person shows a list of players names and other details. I stopped watching Ben's vlogs awhile ago, mostly when he started doing more podcast type content. When he played for Watford, he often studied the opposition team's penalty takers and even asked staff for help. I remember when Watford played against Forest in the Championship, he mentioned his routine and that he stayed at the Gateway Hotel, which is nearby.
  25. At least he's no longer with Chesterfield, plus playing in the Scottish Championship is a good move for him. One step away from continuing the rivalry our fans generated between him and Cal Roberts.
