Match Discussion: Game 14 - Pompey (A)
We get results, then the support is lifted (which is what the club needs) - then a series of stale performances and it goes back. Fantastic result, those who write off Adam Campbell will have seen a glimpse that he can be a goalscorer. Let's hope my first part is the last of it and that all the players continue to progress. Did Campbell play as a striker or on the wing?

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Railwaymen (H)
I only noticed hours after the game that we had drawn 1-1, I went out with my family and bumped into a Stags fan who Noticed my Notts coat and he delightfully told me 'We beat you'. My response 'But did you win today?' He said they drew like us. Good point really, though from the sounds of it the performance didn't really match the effort of @Football in the Community. I have nothing but praise for their fantastic effort.

John Sheridan: 'I did not shout at Notts players after Morecambe defeat'
I hope he used carefully placed words that not only expressed his disappointment but that of the fans too. You can't always shout, yet two bad games - something needs to give.

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Railwaymen (H)
Honestly, I think we'll lose to Crewe - not that the performance won't be better but I think we'll fall back a bit more in order to move forward. We seem to be like that, winning breeds confidence and we play better - yet one setback and we fall upon awkward times. The players really need to remind themselves why they enter the field of play, self motivate themselves and just smarten up with what they do on a pitch. Mansfield really shouldn't be our undoing, yet it seems to be going down that route. The performance needs to be spot on, we need to keep our faith in Sheridan and hopefully after a bit of time we will get our form back.

John Sheridan wants more aggressive starts from Notts County
We tend to lose games where we seem to throw caution to the wind and just go out all attacking, I would rather see Notts be patient and build chances carefully. Problem with Notts is we rush, put pressure on ourselves - we end up losing a couple of games and then we are back to square one. I don't see Crewe being pushovers at all.

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shrimps (H)
I wonder how we will perform today? Watch Morecambe arrive wanting to prove a point and we struggle - then the game ends in a boring draw. I just hope we hit them with clever attacking football and seal a good victory.

Notts Joe: Notts cannot let the Mansfield defeat become their undoing
Going into the local derby game against Mansfield, I had stated on the Pride of Nottingham community and to various fans when talking β Notts needed to go aiming to prove a point. What actually happened, however, was just more disappointment against our big rivals in the division. Itβs easy enough to write off a defeat, yet things had been building quite nicely and I hope the postponed game against Morecambe and the EFL Trophy loss Rochdale don't become basis for any excuses. Notts just doesnβt seem to have the fight for local derbies, we go into them with a fair bit of hype from what is released to the local media β yet fall dramatically short when it comes to the actual performance. After going level at 1-1, you would expect this to be the turning point for a lively encounter, which would have given us some pride. However, once again Mansfield got the better of us and we really need to set this record straight when we play them at Meadow Lane β losing isnβt the end of the world but surely itβs got to be done to giving some form of fight to the opposition? Tuesday night will see the Morecambe game take place, and I am sure there will be quotes about undoing βwrongsβ or on par with that. Yet we just need to need to remain grounded and continue the work effort that we have witnessed as of late. Our away form in the 2016-17 League Two season has helped massively with overturning a lack of optimism in the Notts camp, yet this greatly lacks at Meadow Lane. Performances just havenβt been up to scratch, however much signs of improvements have or havenβt been made. We need to avoid allowing the Mansfield game becoming this season's undoing. Yet whatever the outcome John Sheridan is delivering us a reasonable level of stability, which will only improve with added time and of course his own signings. I asked in a discussion if we needed a centre back and a striker come January, and the responses seemed to be mixed β yet after talking again to various people, it seems we may need to add a little more strength to the ranks after Mansfield. Naturally we will need to release some of the players who donβt seem to interest Sheridan, I wonder who the fans think we can afford to release? I expect Graham Burke to be mentioned within there. I think, however, that heβs the type of young player who we should be pushing for more than we seem to be doing. Likewise with Genaro Snidjers β I think he should be given a run and a chance to prove himself over a period of games. I donβt mean cup matches, but actual league games where it will highlight far more. The 2016-17 squad has depth and the ability to win home games, I was worried that after the increase of positivity all it would take is a couple of defeats to return to the level it was at prior and losing in a derby game does exactly that. Yet despite Alex Rodmanβs comments, I do think we have a lot to focus on and we have some good games where the players can prove their point. And to a degree I still think we are relying on Jon Steadβs form to win us those important games, yet this is exactly why I want to see more of the squad fighting for a chance to start more regularly. Fans seem to suggest that Sheridan wonβt give players a chance, naturally only sticking to his own signings, but at times you must. Hopefully after a few weeks the Mansfield game wonβt be the talking point that it was during last seasonβs bitter campaign. Alex Rodman: 'Notts County need to look at the bigger picture'
For me, we just don't seem to have the metal when it comes to fighting in local derbies. Perhaps its because over the last few seasons we haven't had many of this nature, Chesterfield used to be lively and fun encounters but I don't know - something needs to give. You can win, lose and the majority will except it, especially if there is that fight but I always felt we would struggle if they played how did (which was the opposite to own game

John Sheridan disappointed with Notts conceded goals at Rochdale
Just comeback stronger against Mansfield, all Notts fans want to see a good game - so defend bravely. I doubt anyone is overly bothered about losing to Rochdale (fan wise) especially since it was in the EFL Tinpot Cup.

Match Discussion: EFL Northern Group F - The Dale (A)
Hopefully this holds no impact on our form, yet I can't help but feel it is poor to go 1-0 up and then to allow the team you was beating to take the lead 2-1. Are we out of this abysmal cup yet?

John Sheridan vows to keep Jon Stead "heavily involved" at Notts County
Haha! Don't do that, I've already admitted he's proved his worth and how I was wrong. That said we shouldn't be relying on because if he gets injured who will score the goals we require to win games? So far, Jon Stead is our main outlet and without him on fire - we wouldn't be doing so well. PS. I recall Ray posting on MAD recommending fans make suggestions regarding talent, I wonder if he would ask us to do it now?

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shrimps (H)
They made the right decision, yet I don't think they should have gone onto the field myself. Even before kick off, it was clear it was unplayable and by just starting the game it lead to the uncertainty. Don't get me wrong, if the rain wasn't so heavy I wouldn't be saying this but even without the visible pools - it was certain at the kick that it would be dangerous to play. For me it was a small misjudgement error on their part to start the game.

Do we have Sunderland in this? I know people don't care about the cup but winning games can impact momentum and allow things to gel away from it. It gives us a chance to play some fringe players without breaking the balance of the squad that is winning games in the league. I don't think the attendance will be good but sooner or later something will give.

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shrimps (H)
The game should have been called off before it had even begun, that or delayed without starting. It's a shame because Notts looked up for it and passed it around better, but it was too dangerous to continue playing. The boo's was just frustration for the handling of the game by the officials and the fact fans felt like they had a wasted journey but it only started near to the actual kick off. It just shows how quickly rain can ruin what seemed to be a good contest.

Match Discussion: Game 11 - The Shrimps (H)
The suspension was just for one game? I thought it would be two games due to the fact it was a double yellow and for discontent towards the match official. If Louis Laing is availible he has to start, I can't imagine many would say Elliot Hewitt should retain his spot. Keep the squad close to what has been selected prior, I am feeling a bit more confident but I do worry that they may take a lead and press us more than we have experienced as of late. Regards, I just want to hear fans getting behind the game and singing for the majority of the match. Who's in? @ohstanleyaborah? @NewarkPie??

John Sheridan: 'Jon Stead would not be in League Two if he was younger'
Sadly it's just proving his level, great player but was never good enough for the Premier League - he really should have tried to stay with Huddersfield longer. Championship/League One at a push, cult hero in League Two.

Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Grecians (A)
2-0, what would we do without Jon Stead? It sounds like Exeter are playing much better this second half, so I hope we can get a third. 180 of our fans have made the trip, so they'll be treated if we can avoid the self destruct button. Can Notts do it? Will they? This winning malarkey isn't like us.

What's with the Eddie hoofball comments? It seems I'm missing something. He can easily play it on the ground but its just a case of he doesn't mess about, unlike some and would probably settle things down - until he couldn't play after a couple of appearances. I would have him there any day of the week. I'm hoping we can get a good result, yet I'm still not confident at all.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - Orient (H)
First half Notts performed much better as a unit, yet they looked awkward defending if the ball made it into our own area. Going forward you just wanted them to take their time, I have no idea why we insist on walking the ball into the net or why we take shots when there are players in good areas (who could probably do better). It's almost like each player has a timer and that they are running out of time - so they just rush themselves. And it wasn't like Orient was pressuring us, it was all very odd and I always felt if we removed our own limits we would score. Second half was very entertaining, I went with my youngest daughter and she loved it. I felt we was calmer in the second half, almost like Sheridan had highlighted what was missing from the first half. The first goal was very important, wasn't it well taken? In fact all three goals were superb. The second goal was like I was dreaming, yet I did feel nervous and when we had our penalty appeal turned down - I was even more annoyed when Laing was sent off but I was told it was for dissent - I have heard rumours that it was the wrong player but I swear it was him who knocked the player down (not really a foul in my opinion though). Their goal was well taken but nothing really special, I wanted Notts to get a third and was pleased for Collins because he is highlighting his worth. I was wrong to judge him on his existing record! His finish was very calmly taken, after running with the ball and ignoring shouts - you wondered when he would strike but you always felt he would score.
