  1. It all depends on if we play our a game, as Fullarton seems to focus on the tactcics he believes teams will play - which is smart. Yet I think Wimbledon are one of few sides who can switch their own style of play quite successfully, they also have a squad which understand each other and these are two things which we may struggle with. It's not about how good we are or can be, on the day it will come down to who simply plays better. I've finally came up with my prediction, I think we'll win 2-1. Half time it may be 1-1, with a goal around 65th minute for us to clinch all three points.
  2. It probably would have been clearer if we just recalled him (if possible) despite his loan deal expiring not after Jamie Fullarton arrived. It would have allowed him to see more of Blair, whilst cutting a lot of this back and forth nonsense out. I'm hoping they don't move on swiftly, at least not to the point they don't take him if he doesn't feature for us.
  3. It's been mentioned that the reserve team will be where we blood our youngsters, which is the way it should be. I think it's important to get them playing on a good pitch like Meadow Lane, which enables them support and encourage, yet importantly what it is like playing football professional. Hopefully they'll put on a good showing against Burton. COYP!
  4. It's a game on our day I believe we should win, I know that they have done well against similar sides and are consistent - yet I think we have enough to seal all three points. McLeod will be a miss if he's still injured, I think they would struggle to restrain him. Hopefully we can pack a punch in midfield because that's where the battle will take place. Wimbledon are a very structured team who are comfortable passing and taking teams on. Fingers crossed our defence stands tall and gets the job done, if we keep them quiet - we should score. COYP PS. @Dripsey3 I'm please you started this, I'm struggling to get the topic to generate - just teething problems.
  5. In a few seasons time - perhaps Notts may be able to sell on some of our players for profit? I would hate us to become a selling club solely but the odd player is smart, as we may not risk losing them for nothing. Interesting round-up of League Two. Keeps me obsorbing information which is useful.
  6. Plymouth Argyle has been rumoured to have offered an 18-month deal to Alan Smith back in late December, however, the Notts midfielder looks set to turn down the move and remain amongst the ranks at Meadow Lane. News emerged via Twitter after an image picturing Smith posing for a photo with a young football fan. Later on the same day, another photograph depicting Smith meeting up with Argyle manager Derek Adams was shared amongst social media. Yet the magpies' are believed to have given Smith permission to talk to Plymouth Argyle, but it is now understood that after having had time to speak to the new Notts manager Jamie Fullarton, Smith has decided to see out his remaining deal at Meadow Lane, which expires at the end of the season. Smith is believed to be one of the lowest earners at Notts, as he has made it clear he is not motivated by money. His decision to remain as a Notts County player will be well received by the dressing room, with Smith a popular figure among other team mates and he will be keen to now impress Notts manager Jamie Fullarton who had named Smith as one of his substitutes in the 1-0 away win last Saturday against Crawley Town. So far he has managed to have made 17 appearances, with Smith being in contention for selection against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. However, some Notts fans may have wished for Alan Smith to be one of few players to depart Meadow Lane - as we sort to reduce the current playing squad. 7. I've always said if he came back he should be given a run, the only problem is I don't think he will take his chance. I would have let Mansfield have him personally - yet I'll always wish him luck. COYP
  8. There are some interesting ties this weekend, which I will be keeping an eye out on. Hopefully, JF can get off to a good start at home, it would help massively right now. @liampie - I'm painfully editing the article, removing the code which is applied via HTML. I can only apologise Fixed now...
  9. It's good that he's taken the chance presented, I also hope that he continues to do so because the more firepower we have - the better our options will be on match days. Sometimes a manager says 'your ready' to gain a reaction, perhaps Moniz didn't see that reaction. Onwards & Upwards.
  10. Pleased with the win and the feedback given on the performance, it sounded like we was very stern with our defending. Hopefully a sign of more to come. COYP!
  11. Majority is just a friend wishing his mate good luck, I am sure Forest aren't remotely concerned because they have bigger problems. I just hope it gives Fullarton a boost.
  12. I really think the comments have gone off track, I will edit the article so that it's correct and make sure in the future that fans submissions avoid this.
  13. I really don't know what to expect from this weekend, but if our fans who are travelling to Crawley - make noise and rally behind the squad etc. Perhaps we may get something? Worse things happen at sea huh...
  14. I have no doubt in my mind what is required by our new manager Jamie Fullarton, yet I wonder what his assessment of the squad will be - will he agree with us fans that the squad is simply too big? There's no dismissal that the quality of our defending must improve, it's simply not adequate and if there are any signings to be made during this January transfer window - it must be a centre back. And I hope that he is sincere when he says that each player will be given a chance, as I feel another priority will be to establish a consistent starting 11. Whilst it would be also welcoming to see a manager actually work on mistakes which happen within matches, so that the continuity of each player is actually worth their squad number, worthy of a starting position and importantly we may actually see lessons learnt. However, I don't actually feel we will see any defensive additions, nor do I think we will release any players. So how will Jamie Fullarton change our misfortunes with his limited experience? I think the answer will be found with his first opening five games and how frequently he makes changes - will it be a learning period for the club? Absolutely, yet it's important that he hits the ground running. For myself, I hope we prepare to start games a little more carefully - we see the defence relapse when we push and this occurs even during periods whereby you wouldn't expect it. Can attacking football be a part of the remedy to fix the issues? Partly, yet our build up play also has to improve. Our problems aren't just the poor defending, the switching off, or the lack of confidence. It's also how we pass the ball around, how we look to connect our striker(s) and the frustrating formations which prevented them from having chances under Ricardo Moniz. I hope Fullarton reverts to playing Jon Stead as a striker, whilst seeing that it is important to make use of our wingers - just as it is to see our centre midfield packed with energy, tracking and creativity. If he can get the basics right, it would see a vast improvement and I also genuinely believe that he's lucky to have inherited such diverse squad - regardless of how big it is. We clearly have a talented set of players and it's for him to render it, moulding it into its true potential. Can he do it without support? Nobody knows, yet I can't be the only one who feels he requires an experienced assistant and someone to help him move forward. So there's plenty to digest around the club, to enable a brighter end to this season. 15. It's so easy to 'slap' comparisons onto someone, yet without seeing it - it simply means nothing and with all due respect to the above comments, I just hope Fullarton has his own style and can bring success based on passion/desire. Results are what we will be looking out for.

  17. I wasn't very impressed overall with his interview but you have to give him time, he seemed either uncomfortable or nervous - whilst he also seemed keen to impress and I would have been more so if he focused on talking about his visions for the team. Not sure why this hype of the 'next Sirrel' came from though. At least he played it down.

  22. I felt the same when I read JJ's piece on him coming forward as the favourite for the position. Despite knowing him as a player, he is one I had forgotten about and I didn't even realise that he was with our neighbours as their U21's coach (or whatever the title was). I do feel we need to make the best of it, who knows he may get us off to winning start or the season could become more of a slog but either way I am here for the good. Notts lifelong, yet I hope fans warm to him. Good write up Tommy.
  23. Two historic legends: Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler will be coming back home to Meadow Lane, as the Statue Fund announce that the fundraising target has been achieved. Yesterday’s ‘pub to club’ walk in the memory of Jack Wheeler who had sadly passed away back in June 2009, has seen the remaining £500 raised and a total of £633 saw the Statue Fund complete their overall objective. Lisa Black proudly announced the outstanding achievement via the statue funds Facebook group. She said, “The Jimmy & Jack Statue Fund raising is now complete at £102,000. The statue is cast and the plans are now coming together to see our Notts County legends transported from the foundry in Liver to Meadow Lane by the end of April 2016.” “Thank you to every single person that has helped, be it from the early conversations and the concept, donating a £, pence or being involved week in, week out.” Before adding, “We would not have done this without you”. Pride of Nottingham member ‘MagpieJue’ who took part in the walk alongside her Granddaughter Libby aged 7 said, “It was lovely, a nice route down the canal side, Libby completed it too, and it took us 2 hours, which I didn’t think was bad at all.” “Uncle Colin came to the pub to see us off too, we were all awarded with a certificate of appreciate at the end of the walk, and got copies from the F.A of Jimmy’s coaching credentials”. The project will now see Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler immortalised outside Meadow Lane, with fans of all ages being able to enjoy and remember two of the greatest men in the history of the Notts County football club. Have your say on this brilliant fan achievement below - Also don't forget to check out our content here and if you are not a member - please consider joining.
  24. It's food for thought, and however much the appointment disappoints us - we need to stay grounded and supportive. By far not the greatest decision based on experience but who knows? If it works out, all will be well butbi worry what will happen if we struggle. Appointing inexperience isnt the way to bring stability and will he be backed if things go wrong? Are we aiming for promotion next season? Time will tell.
  25. Honestly, I don't know what to make of this but I do think people who have expressed concerns to me - may have a point. I'd support and back anyone, so I hope if he is the man for the position people do this also. Yet, I don't expect it to be him personally.
