Match Discussion: Game 9 - Orient (H)
30 minutes in and Notts are doing much better, but I want to see a bit more in the final third. Orient aren't applying much pressure, yet we are rushing our touches in their box. Collin needs to keep his focus, his kicking and general movement hasn't been giving much confidence. A better team would have tested him by now, but he's communicating with the defence (you don't usually hear much from him). It seems to be helping the defence, which seems to be more settled themselves. Would like to see us being more direct and running at them, first goal could easily win this.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - Orient (H)
I do like the look of this potential squad, and I do feel its time to start pushing players like Richards but I don't see any ball winners - this is something we do seem to lack. I know people bang on about creativity, though we have that, we don't have a younger Smith who can influence games with his passing or with how he protects the defence by winning the ball back. Come January, I would hope the club look to resolve this and of course sign up a good Centre Back. Stead and Forte should grow as a duo and there's plenty of space for the squad to change in game if needed. We definitely need to press more, if we invite Orient then I think they will break us. If Aborah does play, we need to let him set the tempo and everyone needs to think about supporting whoever stands by their side (or in front). Orient are a side who can turn on their quality when required and I'm actually nervous. Entertain me Notts, entertain me!

Jon Stead plans to keep using "the chop" to bamboozle opponents
He's doing very well, hopefully he can keep it up because he's certainly a driving force for us. Hopefully, it will only be him bamboozling the keeper.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Robins (H)
After they scored their second goal I didn't expect us to respond as quickly. I didn't think the game would be over, as both sides seemed very likely to respond by scoring further but it sounded like several players really wanted the points today. Overall a much better performance by the sound of it, Mark Stallard mentioned various things about the defence but a winning formula will help breed a winning way. We just need to focus on giving teams a game at the end of the day. We did this against Cheltenham who sounded like they are a reasonable League Two team.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Robins (H)
I wasn't keen on the formation when I head it mentioned by BBC Radio Nottingham. However, I can see and understand what John Sheridan is trying to do. It sounds like a decent game and however much Notts step off the gas, at least we are still performing. Pleased for Jon Stead to get his goal, we need to keep ahead. Get these points! COYP 2-1 Notts

Notts County "in hunt" for ex-Juventus defender Martin Caceres
I read a few reports which suggested Forest have been showing interest, now are they falsely reporting? Or confusing us for them? I'll believe it when we sign Messi.

@super_ram Further homework for you - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheltenham_Town_F.C. If we don't get a good result here, then I am concerned that people will start to become frustrated. Notts have to avoid conceding so easily, actually playing to score would resolve some of this but I think we should expect a few more midfield wobbles - either that or we will smash them.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - Stanley (H)
@ohstanleyaborah your not the first to say this. I lost count of how many fans said (even at half time) we needed a battler like Alan Smith on the field. Problem I see, we lacked movement there and having him on the field would give us someone who can win and put the fear of god into them - yet his immobility would only cause further issues. What we needed in my opinion was pace on the flanks, two proper defenders in the right and left back positions and someone who wasn't afraid to run at Accrington.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - Stanley (H)
@Piethagoram We just passed the ball around wastefully - after working the ball into good positions, ones which we could advance and run at them (which I feel Accrington would have struggled with) we passed back, then after a short time the ball would go to the win and it would be lost or knocked out. Notts lacked leadership in the midfield. Why do we insist on standing off players? By the 65-70 minute many of the players on the pitched seemed tired. Perhaps if they didn't chase shadows and stand off the opposition - yet stood up, got stick in and tried to defend more energy would be reserved for when we attacked. Mind, it seemed like we had never seen a ball before some of the time. Fans near me joked about how Fullarton's football was better (which it wasn't). Yet the game was by far one of the worst I have ever seen in my life.
-
Match Discussion: Game 7 - Stanley (H)
Poor start by us. Again we are holding off them, which is allowing the opposition to play neat one-two football. Accrington aren't amazing, far from it but they are playing as a team. We seem to be rushing everything, which is disappointing and poor. The crowds getting on the players back, yet they are still not showing anything. Very poor goal to concede, what Collins was doing I'll never know.

John Sheridan reiterates importance of good Notts County home form
It didn't stop or prevent the Championship winning team of 2009/2010, they played the best at home that I have ever witnessed and I'm sure it's the same for many. We really need to build this unity at Meadow Lane. Make teams work hard to get any points from visiting but John Sheridan seems to be improving the basics which is a good sign.

Match Discussion: Game 7 - Stanley (H)
Looking forward to this game. The Stanley fans are always up for it and usually its a good game between us. I'm hoping to see the improvements that have been made, whilst just watching a decent standard of performance. It's hard to call at this stage but I am feeling very positive.

Brad the Miller visits Meadow Lane for Notts County, Grimsby Town game
It would have been good to catch up with you mate, yet it sounds like I missed a great comeback - with John Sheridan knowing exactly what was required in-game to do that. Looks a bit of miserable day with regards to the rain. Thanks for sharing this.

Notts Joe: Thoughts on Notts County's start to the season
Rodman could benefit from a partner (full back) that offers the pace he doesn't have, yet his control, passing and crossing is quite good. Snidjers does have pace, he's shown it several times and can match IMO - any of our existing players. I really believe a run would benefit him and us.

Match Discussion: Game 5 - Red Devils (A)
I haven't had a good signal today, its been stormy here and very rainy. I bumped into a couple of other fans, all breaking the news to me. Jon Stead is on fire! Haha, I'm glad we manage to keep him and what a great result today. Notts need to keep up the hard work - however I agree, momentum is building. How massive was the Hartlepool win?
-
Match Discussion: Game 5 - Red Devils (A)
We should make it to six points, however, as Stead is as Steads the only striker looking good to score - it makes me nervous. Still, Notts are trying to find consistency. Hope for the win.

Notts Joe: Thoughts on Notts County's start to the season
There were certainly alarm bells ringing in my head four games into the season, with Notts County losing three and drawing one in all competitions. After the first home game, I found myself feeling much like everyone else I spoke to and the phrase βItβs the same old Nottsβ was mentioned multiple times. Game number five, however, saw the Magpies finally claim a win which instantly brightened up the mood and ended the unwanted continuation from the monstrosity that was the 2015-16 campaign. There is certainly something promising about John Sheridan and of course his additions to the squad. Before the season started, upon hearing the news that Jon Stead was reportedly attracting interest, I wasnβt that bothered. However, he is quickly proving his worth yet again and itβs vastly important that we form a new partnership up top β one that can not only impact on games, but also control them. Itβs on this note that I feel I should highlight how I personally think Sheridanβs handling of Izale McLeod has only produced unnecessary tension. Most fans that know me or visit the Pride of Nottingham community will know just how much Izale frustrates me, but I donβt think his disclusion from the first team sends out the right message. It doesnβt say that those on the bench will be given a fair chance, nor do I feel it represents value in the Β£150k we paid for him last season. Itβs almost like it was a decision to bring a sigh of relief to us fans, but really, it doesnβt β instead, I think that Sheridan should attempt to make the most of all options available to him. None more so than Genaro Snijders, who I, like many fans, believe that a good run could produce something quite exciting to watch. Plus, in recent press conferences, Sheridan has said that heβs looking to bring in pace on the wing. Perhaps making use of the fairly large squad would reap its rewards on a consistent basis? We should make each player fight for their position - letβs face it, there are some already who have earned a time out for failing to perform at a satisfactory level. However, it is important to keep a base and allow mistakes to be worked through β something I feel dearly cost Ricardo Moniz, who seemed to be able to fall out with virtually anyone and freeze them out instantly. It's good that we have our first win but, going forward, Notts need to be more consistent. We need to run at our opponents and not just play the ball around nicely across the centre of the park. Utilise the wing, play splitting cross-field passes β this might be the basement division of English football but we should strive for quality and I do believe we have the depth to play it. Itβs just a case of finding it, yet Stanley Aborahβs new found role is exciting β can he be the man to unlock games? Meadow Lane needs to breed confidence and more importantly become somewhere we can get results, whilst the away games top our point tally up. Perhaps then we can progress and actually give this league a proper crack at gaining promotion? Come on you Pies!! What do you think about Notts Joe's views? Notts Joe: Louis Laing is missing piece of Notts County jigsaw puzzle
I must admit that, when I heard the rumour that Notts County were keen to sign Louis Laing on loan, I sort of dismissed it. Why? Quite simply, I couldnβt see a return on the cards, despite the fact he appears to be out of favour at Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell. However, he is the exact type of signing which instantly reassures fans and after a disappointing start to our 2016/17 League Two campaign, itβs a boost we needed. His performance against Hartlepool was nothing short of glorious. Thereβs no hiding, the Notts defence does have weaknesses and itβs becoming even more clear. The βsilly mistakesβ made by various players reveal more of about how woeful the defending has been for the past three or more seasons. Yet we continue to see the focus on the βattackβ, which we appear to have more than enough capable at League Two. Yet, itβs the defence where I had hoped to see further strengthening and if Haydn Hollisβs wish of going out on loan happens, John Sheridan must insure we have another quality centre-back ready to come into the first team. Thereβs no denying however just how much of an impact Laing can have for Notts over the course of his loan spell. His qualities are pretty known among our fan base, and his fearless style of defending and leading by example is something we have greatly missed. John Sheridan and the club have done very well just to get a defender of his quality to come back, let alone drop down to League Two, as I do feel he is good enough for League One. I now wish that Notts could sign Alan Sheehan as he would be a great addition alongside Laing at the back, as well as a defensive midfielder to shore up the back line. If Laing can indeed form part of the missing jigsaw puzzle, perhaps we can go from strength to strength. Yet itβs early days and I do not feel anyone should overly worry, and provided Notts continue to strive for better, the results should keep on coming. Match Discussion: Game 4 - Monkey Hangers (A)
I watched the highlights in channel 5 yesterday, Jesus did Laign seem possessed! His surging run wasn't that of a defender! Why can't many of our actual players try this much?

Match Discussion: Game 4 - Monkey Hangers (A)
Good result today, after going 1-0 down I didn't think we would get back level, never mind won the actual game. Now we have three points, all must go towards achieving a home win - hopefully this will lift the squad and encourage better.

Match Discussion: Game 4 - Monkey Hangers (A)
Hartlepool United have some real gems within their squad, which the majority of Notts fans would have seen last season - as their midfield have the ability to change any game. They've started the season off well, currently sitting 7th with 5 points from 3 games. Majority will most likely write them off, as it seems even the media go this far but they've got more than a decent midfield. Their squad know how to play together and last term, at least for me their problems was found within their defence and goalkeeper (who is good but he lost his head more times than he didn't). I don't see this being 'easy' for us, if we go into this game thinking we will wipe the floor with them - I guarantee it won't be. I see a draw or another loss, my head says 2-2 but I could easily see them scoring a 3rd. Which Notts players would you select for the game? Score predictions? Thoughts?
