  1. It's a shame it didn't work out under him, however we are here and you can't really look back. I'm sure the majority will appreciate he tried his best - the home record being the thing which ruined us but I have always said I believe he will be a good manager, so good luck to him at Cambridge.
  2. @DangerousSausage Don't tell me you've only just suddenly joined us? I hate to say it, but there's only three games left. You might as well see it out now.
  3. Anyone worth their salt in management starts early, it's the best way to recruit - as with out of contracted players, you can snap them up earlier. Hopefully Cooper is here to remain and will bring some excitement per the signings he may potentially attract to Notts. COYP!
  4. Hopefully Cooper does opt for some fresh faces/youths, yet we must be mindful that the timing isn't ideal but if it works it will surely be accredited to him as manager. If it fails or doesn't pay off, well so be it.
  5. He's given some indication during his interviews that we probably won't see a team consisting of youths/reserves. Most likely, we will see some regulars but with the key areas in which we need to improve on having those additions. The right side of defence is an area where we can afford to give a youngster a chance, centre of defence is a different thing but provided we perform better - there won't be any complaints who plays. MC's list should be quite clear, even by now who is up for fighting and who isn't. Regardless, it will be interesting to see the line-up!
  6. I like Cooper's honesty and approach, it's refreshing - I'm not sure all will like it but from the fans perspective it shows that we and the manager see things the same. I hope he does field some of the youngsters, yet we should be wary of rushing them but there's certainly little harm in giving them a run. Tell it like it is Mark! In the words of @magpiejue 'show 'em what your made of'. COYP
  7. It's difficult for Cooper, he's got to deal with the hand he's accepted and there's not much he can change. The squad could have worked, I feel it should have but for one reason or another it hasn't. Martin Allen is right about it, unlike some that have played us - he's commenting because of his 'pride' for our club. *Sigh...
  8. Mark Cooper will certainly be scratching his head. His most recent comments regarding knowing what is the dressing room makes for interesting discussion, yet the players have the chance to settle under some one who has a good understanding of football - they should repay him and do what he instructs. I think if he is still here, he'll de-weed those who are letting Notts County FC down. Thankfully, he isn't blaming the wrong area. Good read Tom! Cheers
  9. Well the defence needs sorting, as does the midfield - we need them to mark properly. Will Cooper play the youths? I think he will throw a few into the mix. At this stage it doesn't really matter who plays, provided they give 100% and they do their duties on the field. I would like to see Gibson partner someone upfront, however I am unsure if it should between Stead or McLeod. I know fans are fearful Cambridge will get another impressive result as they did last night but Morecambe aren't exactly setting the world alight. Wasn't it Morecambe who bragged about being Real Madrid of the lower tier of English football after beating us? *Sigh....
  10. The players just seem to lose it once the opposition team gets a taste for the game. I feel sorry for Loach because he sounded like he kept us in it in the first half, yet the defence failed to protect him in the second. Once they scored from the penalty, I had the feeling we would skin. It's not Cooper's fault though, the players should have the fight themselves to overcome the defeat - they are professional players. *Sigh
  11. Awful result, I'm shocked. They clearly don't have confidence or the desire to fight - we are lucky to be safe. Brilliant interview by Cooper though.
  12. There we go, the reason why we need two goals. Why do we always end up doing something daft like giving a way a penalty? It's been described as 'soft' and Mark Stallard says he doesn't know if it was or wasn't. There is one thing to be said, the hard work in the first half has been undone.
  13. Noble and McLeod sound to have had decent chances. Have to say, I'm pleased Izale won the penalty - when Colin said he went down, followed by 'quite rightly deserving of a penalty'. I did sigh a bit of relief, as we all know how easily he can go down. 1-0 up, it's good but we need another!
  14. I haven't listened to the whole of the first half, yet what I have done sounds more positive. A couple of moments whereby I felt like fans would say 'here we go' but Loach is doing okay. It's hard to tell how dangerous they look, as Colin doesn't exactly describe changes (not being picky Uncle Colin) but saying they breaking with pace, doesn't exactly provide me with a picture of the game. I think scoring another would be wise, as we know the longer we hang onto a 1-0 lead - perhaps the more prone we are in losing our focus. Going two up convincingly breeds confidence. But hey! We are winning. COYP
  15. I'm not sure, I think we would have heard something and for me - it may be a case of jumping the gun based on his comments but who knows. I feel like writing what I did after Portsmouth but @medievalmickey will probably reign on my parade. In all seriousness, Cooper does show that he doesn't like conceding silly goals and has shown it's been something he/the squad have worked on. Barnet a decent outfit in League Two, however even after Saturday I would hope to see no fear from the players. The hard part has been achieved, we just need to see it continue and I hope Mansfield was just a blip. Personally I think it will be 2-0 (or 2-1) but I am quite confident. Make some changes but don't gut the squad, it isn't required. Moniz didn't work through players mistakes, so there was no progression with the woeful defending and I'm not even going to mention Fullarton. Let's just go and do ourselves proud.
  16. Time to see if the players will bounce back and put in a good shift against Barnet. I said it before, I suspect Cooper won't want to see another heavy defeat, so I think players will be switched on more. After all the hype of Mansfield, with so much optimism - we could do with a good result. That said, not long to go now. Thank god.
  17. As I said when he came in, I can't really judge him until next season but he's already impressed me - along with a number of Notts fans.
  18. Right thing to do, after the performance yesterday - the players need to work hard on making sure we don't lose by more than 2 goals. Hopefully they will realise the disappointment by what was a very loyal following yesterday.
  19. Painful and when the trouble kicked off, @magpiejue was caught in the middle of it - her mother is injured (elderly lady). I expected trouble but not from our own, it's just frustrating and wrong on so many levels. At this stage I'm not bothered it's 4-0 to Mansfield (fair play to them). But I'm concerned for any fans caught up in the stupidity.
  20. Expected better myself but a goal can change that, Notts must add pressure onto the Stags but it goes to show what early goes can do.
  21. I have a very good feeling about the game tomorrow, which it has come at the right time - Mark Coopers progressing with the squad and things are on the up. All we have to do is keep focused and make 'em pay! COYP
  22. I hope it's not Arsenal v Spurs (2-2) or most recently Sunderland v Newcastle (1-1). Both of which had bad moments, although Notts playing in style like Arsenal did or Spurs wouldn't be missed. Just avoid fights and cards!
  23. I think we have every chance in continuing our form, so although a win would be my prediction - a draw wouldn't be bad. This said, we must go out and continue playing as a team. We will require organization and discipline, as I do think it will be lively and Mansfield already played to a way which broke us down. We managed to turn that around in the cup game after, however on home soil I think they'll want to do the double this season. Just keep Noble a way from disagreements, play the ball calmly but move it quickly - things should click. I'm confident that our fans will be rewarded.
  24. I like modest people, it's a good trait - so much better than coming across like the big I am. Team players will do this, however really, he deserves a lot of the credit because we would be in a different scenario if he hadn't accepted the position (the second time around). It's been awhile since I've actually enjoyed listening to what the manager has to say about matters. So he deserves credit because it's due.
  25. Majority of Notts fans would love to see Noble remain, no doubt he's one of our better players when he's performing well. Yet even when he doesn't he's worth a place on the bench, as he has the ability to change games and is one of the better passers in the lower leagues. I do think his set pieces have been poor, however so has the majority of players. Sign him up Notts!
