Lets hope the weekends fixtures will be kind to us, we need the results to go our way so we can push up the table. COYP!

Jamie Fullarton understands Will Hayhurst injury woes
He's shown touches of pace but I honestly feel we haven't seen him anywhere near 100%. I'm not making excuses, I just feel he's a player who has the mouldings to be a very reliable player. Yet it injuries could very well be what presents this, whilst if he doesn't become match fit once returned - it's likely he won't be with us for long after that. Also, we have had wingers with no pace before - if we can partner him with someone to support, his feet and movement could be enough to give us the advantage. That's provided we ever see him again.

Match Discussion: Game 29 - The Minstermen (A)
McLeod in form and focused should have a field day at York City if we attack the game in the right way. Confidence away from home really seems to be 'lifted' and I hope it doesn't fall short tomorrow, as the postponed game could very well indeed be a hidden blessing. I just hope the players dig deep to get the result which should follow, I know sides are fighting for their lives but if we play as we can - I don't see them coping.

Miles Addison deal all but over after reported Notts County trial no-show
Probably a gamble that one of the other clubs would have offered him a deal - swayed by his agent? Who knows...

Match Discussion: Game 29 - The Minstermen (A)
I've been to the Viking museum when I was younger, it's a fascinating place. I keep hearing about how York is a great place to visit but I haven't been since I was younger - if we play them next season I will be sure to add to my list of games to attend. York are a side we should beat, however it's football and they are at home. I hope JF's winning streak continues away from home but I have this down as a 2-2 draw.

Notts County legend Les Bradd compares Jamie Fullarton to Jimmy Sirrel
No disrespect to Les Bradd (who is a true gent) but I just hope we treat Jamie for who he is and avoid comparing him to others. I just find this adds annoyance to some, whilst others think it's offensive but really it's just an opinion (which I personally accept). Yet I do think people forge their own names in football. We'll never have another Jimmy, just like if Jamie goes onto to achieve success - he'll be in a class of his own. I really hope this comment isn't taken the wrong way.
-
Jason Banton could be one of "best wingers in the division" - Leigh Curtis
Banton seems to be quite popular, though I really don't know if he would be a suitable signing personally - I can't say I am that bothered about him. If he does sign, I would hope he settles and plays regularly.

Nottingham tram named after Notts County duo Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler
Fair play to all involved. Now we just need to see sport covers like @Andy Black shared via FB (of Juventus) - I know the people who follow PON loved the idea. Let's make Nottingham even more of a city to be proud of.

'Disappointment for me was that more was not done to get the game played' says Hartlepool's Ronnie Moore
Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore has expressed his 'disappointment' that last weekends game at Meadow Lane had been postponed. The pools have a backlog of fixtures due to postponements and will be one of the busiest teams within the Football League as they play catch up. Moore's side now have either three, four or five games in hand over other teams who sit at the bottom end of the division, with weather so far this season meaning Hartlepool United experience their fourth postponement to date. "I came down early in the car with Sam Collins when I heard there might be a doubt, when I got on the pitch there was standing water in the goalmouths and centre-circle." More told the SportMail. "The ref walks out, tries to bounce a ball, of course it gets stuck so he says 'there's no change'." "I love coming to Notts County, itβs a great pitch, ground and atmosphere and was looking forward to the match so much. The disappointment for me was that more was not done to get the game played." Meadow Lane was waterlogged on Saturday after heavy rain down-poured throughout Nottingham. "Yes, there was water on the surface, but the ground was actually quite firm. For me, if the water had been pushed off like you see them do on the golf greens and then the pitch had been forked then you donβt know, do you? There might have been a chance." He said. "The [Notts County] people said that the water drains into the river just outside the ground and the riverβs right up. Results went the way of Pools on Saturday in the games which went ahead." What do you think of the postponement? Is Ronnie Moore right that more could have been done or is he just upset due to the backlog of fixtures? Have you say on the Pride of Nottingham.

League Two Round-Up: Weekend Saturday 6/2/2016
Hopefully we can dig in next weekend and lift back up. Quite a boring weekend really. I also note Cambridge and Mansfield are doing well still, I think the Stags moving to 5th is a good thing for Nottinghamshire football. Yet I am not sure we will finish higher than them myself, I know quite a few who want this but hey ho.

Match Discussion: Game 28 - Pools (H)
I was really looking forward to the game today, it's a shame but it presents us a chance to further prepare ourselves. I think the longer Hartlepool go without playing, will only resort in nerves - we are not having much luck against them are we? Reminds me of the old days in League One not that many moons ago.
-
Match Discussion: Game 28 - Pools (H)
Very fair summary, your probably right. Fullarton really does need to find a way to incorporate Aborah, he does defend and pick up the ball - if anything he tends to lose the ball whizzing past players (as he doesn't have a lot of pace). Yet most of the time he retains the ball, he's like a 'more' finished version of Curtis Thompson. I can't wait for tomorrow.

Stat Attack: Notts County vs. Hartlepool United
Hartlepool fans are really something, they treat people well and I have the utmost respect for the club - it was also mine and Jake's first away day together. I don't think they should be near the relegation zone but they're struggling with losing some key players IMO. I hope we overcome the jinx of playing them and that we claim all three points. COYP!

Hartlepool United: 'Let's enjoyed our football' says Ronnie Moore
Rallying call really, I wouldn't read to much into it - I think the proof will be in the pudding so we shall see tomorrow but I hope they'll be okay.

Hartlepool United: 'Let's enjoyed our football' says Ronnie Moore
Hartlepool United manager, Ronnie Moore has told his players to go and 'enjoy' playing their football - He insists they should show no fear, starting with the Pools trip to Meadow Lane tomorrow. Hartlepool finds themselves a single position above the drop zone of League Two, a mere 12 points behind the Magpies'. In a mid-week interview More said "Pressure? itβs for whimps". Before adding "Just go and play football, weβre not getting shot at out there! Yes, itβs peopleβs livelihoods and the fans have supported the club all their lives β they donβt want to see us go out of this league. But itβs game of football - go out there and enjoy it." "Itβs a matter of getting together, taking the chances when they come." Pools dropped to 22nd in the table this week, it's their lowest league position since last May - It follows after Yeovil managed to secure a point against Luton Town, though the Pools have a total of 4 games in hand. "We canβt do anything about other teams winning. You have to live with that. But we have the opportunity with our games in hand." explained Moore. "They mean nothing though unless we are winning them, we know itβs going to be tough, thereβs no doubt about that but we have a decent squad here now and one we should not fear anyone. We need a little break, we need someone to put the ball in the net, however it goes in, it does not have to be a wondergoal." Former Hartlepool United striker Luke James will be availible for the pools selection and will be tasked with causing Notts County's defender trouble. He will remain with the side on a half-season long loan after signing from Peterborough United. Also availible would select the 21-year-olds partner from a range of players such as Rakish Bingham, Rhys Oates, Billy Paynter and Scott Fenwick. "Luke can play with any of our strikers,β said Moore. βHe can play in a 4-4-2 or just off the forward, Itβs a hard decision for me because given the amount of forwards here now, one or two may not be in the squad altogether." "But all the lads have had ample time to put a smile on my face, none of them can knock on my door if they are out. Scotty is maybe the only one who can feel hard done by, but the reason I went for Bings last week was his pace." "It wasnβt anything to do with me thinking Bings is a better forward than Scotty. It was horses for courses, but we can all be wise after the event canβt we? We can all say at 5pm, 'oh, I wouldnβt have picked him'." Nathan Thomas will be a certain starter for the pools, along side Luke James - who returned after putting an outstanding performance last Saturday against Exeter City. "If we had someone like Luke last week we would have won as Nathan was unplayable," said Moore. "He has ability, he is bright and quick and creates chances. Nathan can be our saviour β playing at that pace, opposition players canβt handle him. I donβt want to pin too much responsibility on one boy, but everyone has seen what he is capable of. Iβm sure if he produces that week-in, week-out there will be enough balls coming in to satisfy any striker." Have your say on the Pride of Nottingham match discussion - Here. Notts-Joe: February presents test of character for Notts
Hartlepool United presents Jamie Fullarton an excellent opportunity, as does the run of fixtures taking place within February. Yet, itβs tricky in a sense because we feature the Pools twice within recent weeks of each other and those games are quite hard for teams struggling to insert themselves on the field β especially when the first game is at home. York City, Leyton Orient and Accrington Stanley are games coming up. We also face a difficult Plymouth Argyle towards the latter part of the month. York and Accrington are games which I feel we can secure points; it is aided by the fact that Jamie has restored faith in the away performances. So tomorrow we face the challenge which a struggling Hartlepool United presents and the conversations within our match discussion has instantly raised concerns regarding both midfields. I donβt think they will sit back, itβs not the style of play they try to incorporate into their tactics. Most likely, they will build with patience or result to keeping the ball in the air, so that this breaks the game up and allows them to edge closer to playing it on the ground within the final third. They will want to involve their wingers as much as possible, with so many young and eager players and a packed midfield this could make it hard for us to break them down. Which will be a test of character for Notts to enable play to break them down. With York City also being a side which struggle, I think this will be the game that could entice confidence from our own attacking play. Orient are a different scenario, we know that they will look to play with confidence and aggression β whilst Accrington are just your typical League 2 team. Plymouth being the final fixture of February, will rely on the morale and confidence picked up from the previous five games. I think picking 10 points could happen; itβs the mid-range of what I would predict personally and much depends on our home performancesβ that break up the away games. I donβt dismiss that there will be tests, yet for us to finish as high as possible (forgetting about the play-offs for now) β we will need to acquire much of the points here, as March could be a month where we could seal further victories. It may seem negative to think about this now, but I have thought about comments made about next season. Surely re-building in the summer will allow us to focus on challenging wisely for promotion from League 2? Cβmon You PIES!! What do you think? Match Discussion: Game 28 - Pools (H)
@AmericanPie I disagree, we need to witness signs that the football is improving - this will help Jamie but it would also help bring folk back to Meadow Lane. Obviously it's not always possible but Hartlepool can be broken down, I think the football on Saturday might see much of the game competed within the air and I'm not exactly sure how much this would benefit the visitors. They, like us prefer it being played on the floor but I suspect both teams will find it difficult to play the game outright like this.

Gary MacKenzie's Notts County loan 'could be extended'
I don't think Jamie needs to mention much of this, it seems like he's trying to sell Gary to us - I am sure fans are eager and keen to witness him play. In that time, people will make their minds - perhaps even change opinion. It's a positive about the extension, if he plays well and does good. Getting that extension as early as possible would show a good sign of intent. Yet due to the length, I suspect it will come quite late - I wonder if he's available to be played in reserve games? That would make a difference and be less risky than allowing his fitness to improve during league games.

League Two Preview: Saturday 6th February 2016
Hartlepool have some good players, which if we allow to play their game - they do have the ability to push us. Their main threat will be from the midfield, wingers especially but I am confident we will be able to take the game to the visitors. It would be good if Mansfield didn't pick up any points also. Cheers!

Players disappointed to see leave Notts
Paul Devlin, Steve Finnan, Alan Judge, Neal Bishop... I'm struggling already :/ Tough question.

Jamie Fullarton: 'Jimmy Spencer departure was a hard decision to allow'
Really, I can't either but that doesn't mean I don't feel he should have been given more of a chance. If he continues to do well at Cambridge excellent, I think he'll fade after his opening form but I highly rate him. Any team in this division are lucky to have him.

Preview: Youth Team - Hartlepool
Good run for Notts, I think if they play well and how they have been they'll do just fine. I can't really see Hartlepool making our youth team struggle, unless we don't get into the game or relapse. COYP!

Jamie Fullarton describes former defender Gill Swerts as a "gentleman"
Swerts is a model professional, it always impressed me how he instantly realised how important the fans are to this club - he had a lot of time for us. I recall speaking to an ex-player who told me out of all the players we had signed in the summer, Gill Swerts was the only one who knew how important the background and rich history of the club meant to us moving forward. I think it's a shame his deal elsewhere appears to have fallen through. However, unlike some of our past players - I am sure he will land on his feet and allowing him to go find regular playing time is only fair. I agree with @Piethagoram that the midfield is well processed, if perhaps only we lack a player who can influence things when they are difficult and has the ability to dig in defensively - whilst offering much going forward. However, I don't think we really warrant signing a new midfielder at this point (if Notts are looking for a freebie).
-
Match Discussion: Game 28 - Pools (H)
@Piethagoram I agree, you need consistency within your selection. I always said Ricardo did more harm mixing the squad up and by dropping players for making one mistake (which often was minor or team related - so I didn't get why certain people would be frozen out). I think it's insane to dis-include Snijders, when we seem to be struggling for wingers. For me, bar the new defender who I believe will start, it should only be a few changes to the midfield that we should see.
