  1. On occasions, I have been asked why I support Notts County? It’s not enough to have it in your blood or to have shared the best part of your childhood attending games with your grandfather who lived and breathed the magpies. I always reply, when it’s good – it’s incredible, and when it’s a rollercoaster, you’re closer because you’re a community at the end of the day. Some fans might prefer to have it easy; however, I feel most wouldn’t. Notts County isn’t chosen, it chooses you and, on days like today, it’s fantastic to see a proud fanbase come together. The pain from relegation I believe it makes you stronger, it makes me more determined, and I feel the club’s history is one which deserves to be preserved. Each part of the Notts County community does its part, and when together it’s something special. Life in Non-League has been much better than I imagined, I am incredibly proud of the squad, and I feel we are much stronger for all the turmoil. Our new owners seem keen to learn from the past, they’ve back Neal Ardley and allowed him to assemble a squad which as fans we can be proud of. Making the National League playoff final feels a huge step forward and, I won’t repeat Barnet fans mistake by bragging about being in the Football League. Still, I do feel confident about playing Harrogate. Throughout the day, it’s been a joy to share and see how the supporters’ got behind today’s game – below I will share some of the build-up as we lead into the game as a community. Mark Cotton - "Let’s see Who’s rocking there county shirts on play off semi final day." @magpiejue @NottsGeezer @Mitch Whiley @DangerousSausage @super_pie Brian Barry - "Buzzing over here in Ireland." 2. Despite leading 1-0, I can't write how nervous I am. BT Sports have been nothing but biased with Harrogate and now, Barnet. It's an absolute joke, but the game hasn't been that flowing [most likely due to the conditions]. Neither team have really stood out over the other, but right now we're allowing Barnet back into the game. Sam Slocombe just made a brilliant save!
  3. I think I can see both teams scoring, I just hope my gut instinct that Notts will lead 2-0 is right. It's a massive occasion for us and, I don't think the players will be all that nervous. I think the excitement might be the issue if they don't keep focused but let's just hope it's a good game. Whatever team Neal Ardley puts out, let's get behind them in spirit. COYP!!
  4. I think some fans are thinking Notts will have fitness issues or, perhaps tire within the second half. The players seem fit enough to me, many of them have been having frequent runs near to where they live such as Tom Crawford. The squad is big enough to start players who can make a difference with a burst of pace, that's for sure. I'm hoping Kristian Dennis starts along side Kyle Wootton. Sam Slocombe returning will be a big boost, he's a solid keeper at this level. Defensively, I see no reason to split up Alex Lacey and Connell Rawlinson - yet I do expect Neal Ardley to find space for Ben Turner. COYP!
  5. I'm getting more nervous by the day, however, I do feel confident. I think if Barnet still have injury worries, that would be of benefit - especially if Simeon Akinola is still out. Tactically, Neal Ardley has a wealth of options up front and I'd be torn between starting Wes Thomas or Kristian Dennis alongside Kyle Wootton. For me, Wootton is a must. In the middle I would like to see Jim O'Brien but I think it might be wiser to start someone who can do more running, such as Tom Crawford. Thanks for sharing your thoughts @Matty Jackson.
  6. Notts County fan flags have been pouring into the club ahead of the semi-final game against either Barnet or Yeovil. With magpie’ fans wanting to make their presence felt, despite the absence due to the game being played behind closed doors and, the restrictions of COVID-19. The club has announced that various flags will be on display around Meadow Lane, with the fans’ being placed inside the Derek Pavis Stand. Teaming up with One Stop Promotions, fans can design a vast array of concepts within their own flag and, Lian Martin has told the Pride of Nottingham that over 80 have been purchased so far – with the 100 marks being expected to be broken during the weekend. Fans have until 9am of Monday 20th July to purchase theirs ahead of the historic playoff semi-final, as Notts County push to make their Football League return via Wembley. Pride of Nottingham is pleased to be joining many other magpies with our very own flag which has been produced by the club’s partner One Stop Promotions. Pride of Nottingham would like to thank One Stop Promotions for kindly supplying these pictures showcasing our flags production, don't forget with each order Notts County Football Club will receive £10. 7. I just want to throw this out there. Why are people suddenly complaining about people not wearing masks, nearly everyone from the start of the pandemic didn't. At the last two Notts games, I only recall one fan wearing one and I think he did it as a joke (or at least he joked to me about it). To stop it spreading further? I would be curious to know, what if most of the UK have had it and our bodies have become immune to it? I wasn't well back in December, I missed Notts games due to the illness and the symptoms match up. I didn't go out, just stayed at home and slept most of the time because it was all I could do pretty much. Suddenly declaring everyone needs to wear a mask when going shopping, it seems like something that should've been done from the beginning. I'm not against wearing masks, I just find it to be daft that it's suddenly now when it's needed.
  8. The squad Notts had in 06 wasn't the best, but they played together and fought for us. I had actually forgotten about that, as I seem to recall the season wasn't exactly all thrills. Wasn't it also one of the seasons where money worries impacted things? I wished my memory were as clear as Uncle Colins...
  9. I don't think VAR is an issue, it's more about how it's implement and used. This gave me a good chuckle for the right reason, especially the Forest chairman part. Wouldn't it be nice to think Little Al messed them up, ah? Apologise for only just reading this, I must keep a better eye on things.
  10. I believe it would be expected of care homes to be hit hard, they're a very vulnerable place in our society. They're an area where the most support is needed, yet during this pandemic I would've imagined that outside help from doctors was few and far between. I'm also not sure care homes wouldn't follow the guidelines, as I have mentioned they're much stricter and generally prepared for outbreaks of viruses (such as sick bugs).
  11. With some major cities already having headed back into lockdown measures, it shows how serious this pandemic is because it won't be beaten unless everyone plays their parts. I think re-opening pubs is a massive mistake, people from Leicester are already finding their way into Nottingham pubs, I can't help but feel it's incredibly selfish.
  12. Personally, I would hope schools re-open once we know work places can return properly without safety measures. Young children won't want to wear a mask all day long. They won't understand that they can't go near their friends, however, it does seem like we are slowly heading in the right direction. Once crowds can return to things like football matches and, other supporting events. Work places are normal, buses are without a lot of the safety measures - I would deem school a no go until it improves to this standard.
  13. @DangerousSausage No doubt that the schools must open at some point, yet I don't think we're quite at that stage now. Commonly I am seeing people who want their kids to return due to their working situation or, simply because they're tired of having them around. My children are learning every day, we are assigning them our own stuff and I don't worry about any of them falling behind others. Ellie for example, it took us almost 2 years to get her a school placement and she was well behind others when she started. Now she's flying ahead of her year, but I do agree schools must return when it's safe to do. My biggest argument is if football and, other sports must be done behind closed doors. Schools are not safe, we don't know if children can carry the virus without knowing and further spread it. There's got to be a common sense approach, if any parents are worried about their children falling behind - I genuinely feel they need to do more. I bet @hissingdwarf is teaching his children, I wonder how he feels about them returning to school.
  14. How does parents feel about those calling for schools to return to being open? I wouldn't allow Jake, Ellie or Ava to return until I know its back to normal, teachers risk re-spreading it and, all it takes is one time visiting my parents unknowingly for them to catch the Coronavirus. We've done our part already by keeping clear and, myself and @cheeky~k8 are perfectly fine with home schooling until it's beaten.
  15. There's a standard guideline all care homes have to follow, not just privately owned. They're much stricter in general with sick bugs and other things, forcing measures such as not allowing visitors to see family members in person. It's the council ran care homes which tend to be softer or ignore the guidelines due largely to inexperienced staff. I would imagine that most went into lockdown themselves before the UK did. Issue is carers, nurses, cleaners etc - who go home are more likely to spread it without knowing. If any permitted visits during the lockdown, then that would be quite severe and dangerous as commonly people do not use the hand soap to clean their hands or even read notices. It's a difficult situation for everyone.

  18. I do think China are more used to these types of situations, they're very disciplined when it comes to it. There's some interesting media pieces that 60 minutes Australia have done. Those backstreet meat markets make me shiver with how poor the hygiene is over there. without it being placed in this scenario. People putting all sorts of animals in cages to slaughter and consume is just very disgusting. China still needs to answer to the World Health Organisation though.
  19. @DangerousSausage It's probably false, but I do recall reading about the cover up in a national paper online. There's been a lot of nations digging mass graves which is scary to think about, as it's almost like what you can see in The Crazies film. This is one report I have just found about China covering things up - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8211073/Is-China-covering-death-toll-tens-thousands-Video-shows-police-beating-fleeing-residents.html They didn't react well, they hid it as a 'flu' like bug at first. If it started before November, who knows but I honestly believe I had it in December myself. China and North Korea are a lot a like, both are trying their hardest to cover up the truth. North Korea for example have claimed to be free of the pandemic. It's all crazy, Russia is lying too.
  20. I really do wonder why we haven't shut down our transport systems, planes should been halted them moment the UK went into soft lockdown. Only way this will be cleared up faster and, safer is if the UK goes into full lockdown. The UK could end up as being as bad as China at this right, they've allegedly lost over 1 million people to this pandemic.
  21. Towards the end of May. A lot of the caravan sites have closed, we are thinking it's likely to expand to beyond June. I'm sure the lady that we hire the caravan from will put the payments we've made already towards the next time we plan to go.
  22. Does anyone genuinely believe that the pandemic will slow down any time soon? I doubt I'll be celebrating a normal birthday in May.
  23. China could have been a lot more upfront and honest about it, I still think the UK should be under a more demanding lockdown personally.
  24. I actually don't think we need to turn this topic into something political, it's about the virus and, sharing information. I'm not trying to discourage people from posting, having their day, I just want to remind people that debating politics or even mentioning it can lead down a path we as a community need not go down.
