Meet the Fans 16/17 - Stevenage FC
Notts County's first home game of the 2016-17 League Two season saw John Sheridan's side take on Darren Sarll's Stevenage FC at Meadow Lane. The game was mostly uneventful, as the Magpies conceded fairly early onto the game with an horrific defensive mistake, which saw Notts pegged back to 1-0 - until striker Jon Stead struck before the end of the first half making it 1-1. Pride of Nottingham spoke to a number of fans before the game and asked them a number of questions, including whether they were looking forward to the end of the season. -- Pride of Nottingham's Notts-Joe took to asking several questions ahead of the Magpies' first home game against Stevenage FC on the 13/08/2016 - be sure to help spread the word by commenting and sharing the video. John Sheridan pledges to be attack-minded at Meadow Lane
Nothing wrong with his pledge, but please can we be one unit and together in everything that the squad does? Also, I'm one of them would love to see us being more defensive (since already we seem quite weak).
-
John Sheridan 'to select different Notts players away from home'
This should have been done pre-season, select the best squad and stick with 'em! Messing around could cost us further games, please avoid experimenting and just expect better from the players. Yesterday's result shouldn't send anyone into panic, the above idea perhaps might though.

Adam Campbell: 'Notts County can't go wrong this season'
Let's not tempt fate, just work hard and the rest should come. Mid-table/anywhere above will do me fine, stability is the key and a manager being retained for more than a few months.

Notts County youth team end pre-season on high note with victory over Ilkeston
Well done lads! COYP

Jon Stead looking forward to match against former club Blackburn Rovers
I can recall my brother going on about Jon Stead signing for Blackburn (he likes them), I said then he was overrated and now look where he is - it never really worked out for him until he moved down. He looked decent but never a Premier League player in my opinion. He's almost certain to score now.

Notts County announce 2016-17 season squad numbers
@TheFostarr94, @ohstanleyaborah, @NewarkPie - could these squad numbers reveal anything? I find it difficult to believe that John Sheridan would swap a player from an higher to a lower one, if the player didn't fit in his plans. Wouldn't you just push them further up? I'm surprised Smith has remained the number. 4 shirt - I hope he focuses more on coaching rather than playing. Burke could very well be one of the players but I would be disappointed if he was to be left go myself.
-
Haydn Hollis ready to step up for Notts County after his "best pre-season"
I feel sorry for Hollis, he tries and gives 100% but sometimes (perhaps more frequent) it just isn't enough. It sounded like he played well against Walsall and Forest - good luck to him.
-
John Sheridan to let "one or two" Notts County players leave
It makes sense, yet its probably going to be players who haven't featured much in friendlies and that makes me wonder if we can really afford to let 'em go but obviously this is just speculation. Hopefully those who do go, we will all be in agreement and not regret releasing talent who could feature.

Richard Duffy: 'All Notts County players need consistency this coming season'
Many people said this to me @magpiejue. For me if we are playing better for more than 20 minutes or one single half, it's progress but really we need to see the defence come together and sort out the lapses we seem to have. It might be earlier under John Sheridan's reign as manager (which hopefully we be a long one) but sorting the back out would ease pressure. Though I can't say I'm worried, certainly not anywhere near some of the post reactions after Carlton or Alfreton Town.

John Sheridan to enter talks with Notts County trialist Jhai Dhillon
@TheFostarr94 has already mentioned this after speaking with him, so I assume its safe to say they are most likely talking now - I don't much about him but I hope we sign another quality CB.
-
Thierry Audel calls on last season's Notts County players to forget bad times
Yes, but please don't repeat otherwise we'll feel even more disappointment. That said - I am sure if people pull together (and not those who frequently get blamed) we can have a successful season. It's not always the players fault, yet I would love to see them keen to do well and work hard to ensure it happens.
-
John Sheridan wants Notts County strikers to concentrate on attack
I think there's still room for a little improvement here, so hopefully we can snap up another striker. But the Forest friendly highlighted that we have desire, passion and fight amongst this John Sheridan squad. Lets hope they all unleash hell on League two and we have a good run this year.
-
Stanley Aborah to play in attack for Notts County, says John Sheridan
I, plus a host of fans talked about this often - he can defend but he needs players around him to do it. I do feel he's better off more advanced, so hopefully we see another one of my wish list ticked off - lets get a general defensive midfielder who will let the opposition know he's there without doing a Liam Noble.
-
John Sheridan 'knows what formation to use' at Notts County
Its called 4-4-2, no need to be fancy or 'modern'. Just play it simple and switch as and when its required. Fingers crossed we don't stray to one striker because if anything, all of our friendlies have proven we require fire power and one striker will always be a lack in that regards.

Mike Edwards 'humbled' by Notts County testimonial
Absolute legend, no questions asked and fully deserved the big game.
-
Allardyce set for England job
Its funny seeing how he changed from being the Notts manager to now the England national manager. I had seen the clips the BBC shared socially it took me back to when my grandfather was alive and a more happier time. If only he had managed to stay, yet I don't blame him for going to Bolton. Good luck to him and I hope he brings back the PRIDE we desire for the Three Lions.

John Sheridan confident of Notts County promotion push
JS is saying all the right things and speaking very well, I would hope that this type of attitude will rub off onto his players - yet its looking pretty good. We just need to ensure we start the season well, pre-season doesn't matter - get the fitness up and players match sharp. Sign a couple more players, then let's see how it goes. COYP!

John Sheridan expects big things from Jon Stead in coming season
Honestly, I am not sure. I think Stead is a brilliant player, one who works hard and gives 100% but I'm not sure he should be our main focus upfront - with that in mind I don't expect fire works from him but steady performances. If he can score more than 10 goals, brilliant but I do believe he will be limited. Provided we have four or more options upfront, regardless it wouldn't be a concern. Things are progressing nicely.
-
Notts County to keep tabs on hat-trick trialist Will Mellors-Blair
It'll be the big friendlies which will reveal more, as will if he can remain consistent but we all know players can lose their focus once a contract is signed - I must add however, Will appears to have a great attitude. I like his attitude surrounding 'working hard' and 'keeping focused on goals'. Plus having watched a few videos of his, he seems fast and very skilful. Time will tell his worth but its looking promising.

Mike Edwards wants testimonial to create buzz in Nottingham
He deserves a send off from our fans that can make the game, though I do think the clash with Splendor could have been avoided - yet most likely this will be one of the only dates Forest are available I assume. Not much that can be done bar those who can go, trying to make the most of it. Take your red friends or football fans in general, it will be a good day for both Nottingham(shire) clubs.

Notts Joe 'quietly and surprisingly optimistic about Notts County season ahead'
On the back of three very disappointing campaigns in a row as a Notts County fan, I find myself aligned with new hope and prospect for the new season β however, I must admit I didnβt believe I would be at this stage. 2015-16 was a year the majority of fans will no doubt want to forget and itβs all for the right (or should that be wrong) reasons. The broken ambition and desire shown really tugged at the heartstrings of many genuine supporters I know, and it was difficult at times to consolidate the raw emotion that was often expressed to me β especially towards the back end of the season. It really was a bleak disappointing term for the Black & White Army, which I really do not need to remind anyone of. However, as I write this, I can quite easily cast aside that bitter disappointment in hopes that things may finally improve on and off the field. Like most, supporting a team that has fought most of their years in the lower tiers of English football β you find yourself clinging to the hopes that the club may actually be a βsleeping giantβ. And I renewed my season ticket without a second thought, but I do not question those who have not done this because a football club must appreciate its fans and understand that the money paid in is that of hard work and passion. Itβs not a simple case of not supporting the club, but simply case of value. I hope this season is different, yet as I wrote earlier, I am excited β I think John Sheridan has put a lot of time in accessing the players in which the club have clearly been tracking and itβs not like Notts to sign the majority of players who have been linked to them. Michael OβConnor, the most recent signing, is an excellent addition to the squad, along with his former Port Vale teammates Carl Dickinson and Richard Duffy. I am also happy with the arrival of Adam Collin, who I hope manages to establish himself as our number one goalkeeper. I donβt think Iβm alone in being optimistic, numerous fans have been expressing it β and I hope that the stability we so desperately crave is found this year. Between now and the start of the new season, I want to see Sheridan establish his best XI β itβs important for me he avoids making the mistake that Ricardo Moniz probably regrets. No doubt we will attempt to mix things up, but our new manager must form the chemistry required. The squad doesnβt look that far from being finished, unless we see some other players depart but I do still have hopes for a defensive midfielder and a striker β a goal scorer will not grow on trees but itβs vital we sign someone to go up top. Jon Stead and Izale McLeod for me donβt seem to be the answer, at least together, and I do hope we are consistent with featuring two strikers. Those who watch European football/the Premier League may disagree but I would say as a minimum in League Two you start all home games with two and only revert to the lone striker against the more difficult opposition. Whatβs next for the Magpies? Nobody can be sure, however pre-season isnβt that far away now. Football is almost upon us again and itβs time for us as fans to unite together and create an atmosphere we can be proud of β what other clubs/people think, it doesnβt matter, but for our own future we must try. Carl Dickinson gunning for promotion with Notts County
For once it's the reason to join, not to sign elsewhere - I like that.
