Who's your Man of the Match v Bromley?
I am voting for Matthew Dennis based on his performance and not solely due to the two goals he scored. Although the first was one hell of a solo run, and I can see why Notts wanted him so much. He's already off to a flying start, and I hope it continues. I thought he was exceptional, and alongside Jodi Jones and Matt Palmer, thought the team gave a good account of itself. The subs regrettably left us feeling sluggish.

Questions, Questions.
I don't think I can speak for the majority of fans, even though on match days I speak to a large portion, and I do see a lot of opinions being expressed on social media of different stances when it comes to where they feel Notts are at. However, I would agree that it is the minority who question what the Reedtz are doing, have done, and where money has been spent. "The Nest" was very positively received, with only a few comments about fans rather seeing the money spent on the pitch. When our form became poor last season, and fans felt we wouldn't reach the playoffs, I did notice a lot of people start to moan about how they wouldn't use The Nest, how it was a waste of money, and how the club wasn't moving forward, etc. Promotion for me shouldn't be rushed, because we need to earn it, and spending money to make money at this level is smart business. It's easier to invest at this level than to do it when we have grown and are money-strapped. We can spend all the money we have on recruitment, lose players, and become a Moneyball team. Even this won't automatically give Notts success, and it won't please fans. I feel we have done well to a point to retrain players because some teams in our position end up losing 3-5+ of the key squad players due to higher clubs wanting to take a gamble on the talent that our squad has. Macaulay Langstaff he was always destined to leave us after our first season back in the English Football League. Likewise, Alex Bass seemed likely to leave us, but it's just a shame it was after a single season. Prior to his signing for us, he had done well with AFC Wimbledon and proved to be the reason we signed him. Losing players like Aaron Nemane and Dan Crowley, while good players, aren't exactly major losses. Our squad could have easily been dismantled after promotion back or after the first season by bigger clubs. My point being, teams are able to do this with their resources and without selling assets or creating revenue streams. You won't be able to spend big on assembling a squad. The only thing I feel right now that can attract fair criticism is how we have priced out fans and have started to see a decline in attendance because of it. I am not convinced it's largely due to our poor start or staggering performances; I feel the price increase is negative and comes at the cost of picking up floating fans. Yet I see no harm in building and investing in ways to bring in money that will eventually become self-sustaining and very profitable. Which the club could eventually use to further our club and sign the best possible players.

Gaza's vanishing football stadiums
It's very difficult to make any form of comment toward the video without it treading into the political side. I do not wish to view or read anything that might cause tension among our site, and I am mindful that we have younger members whose parents might not appreciate some of the strong wording that was attached to the BlueSky message. This is a decision based on being fair, which is to allow the video, but from the "discussion" point of view, it has already shown that it falls within political boundaries. I ask team members who may have permission to reply here, even after the topic has been locked, to avoid doing so. You can raise concerns to me directly; however, the nature of the discussion is always at risk of being political, and that leads to people becoming upset.

Match Discussion: League Two - Bromley FC (A)
I hope I don't regret writing this, but I would stick with Kelle Roos. We are starting to find our feet and bringing in a young lad who is only just starting to get his experience in senior football. I think it would just be wise to remain settled; the change could put pressure on the defence, or they could make his life coming in much harder. I am more inclined to want to see the defence and keeper settled, but I do understand why it is being suggested. I really hope we keep Nick Tsaroulla out wide; I would be tempted to stick with Kellan Gordon on the other side. The midfield pretty much writes itself; it's just a case of who will be with Matthew Dennis and Jodi Jones. So, at most I would imagine only two changes, but I don't know if we have any knocks or injuries hampering selection. Usually, head coaches in Martin Paterson's position tend to remain unchanged after achieving their first win. I do think it's a blow that Alassana Jatta is ruled out. If it is a trick to surprise Bromley and he does end up being selected, I would naturally feel a lot more confident. Notts just needs to keep at it from the Shrewsbury performance and work on the criticism that was mentioned, such as the passing. Yet, to some extent, we need to be forgiving with that, especially if it means being more creative on goal. Or, at the expense of passing back and putting ourselves under pressure for no reason.

Allasana Jatta Injured.
The moment I read "injured," I had a feeling of instant disbelief. You want it to be true, but part of me, at least, seems to find a "back spasm" to be a weird thing to suddenly experience after training. Then again, if the agent is putting him up to fabricating it, why not say he feels concussed or something else head-related? With his past history, it would be more believable unless this is a situation similar to when Lee Hughes was told he was past it and that the club didn't want him any longer, so he went out and got a sick note. After his sending-off last season, his absence in the away leg against AFC Wimbledon really impacted us. I would have thought he would be keen to play and prove himself. If his head's been turned and a club is seriously interested in him. Surely such antics would be enough to put you off? A potentially bad agent and a player who would rather miss games than play. Solely so that he can force his way out of his current team. It wouldn't make me want to do business with him. I seriously hope there's not more to this, but it all seems rather odd considering he missed the German Tour and was sent to play with the B team.

Who's your Man of the Match v Shrewsbury?
I've done my homework, and I agree that Nick Tsaroulla was by far the best player on the pitch. I think he played a positive role in bringing the best out of Notts, but I also appreciated Matt Palmer, Sonny Aljofree, and Barry Cotter. He dives for the ball like he's Superman, if he had springs in his boots he might have saved the Shrewsbury goal.

Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
Good win. Shrewsbury might not have won, but it still takes a committed team to beat who they are up against. I had this feeling we would win. It's just a shame I wasn't there, as it would have been good to see a game with 5 goals, and 4 of them for Notts. I am seeing a lot of criticism still for Kelle Roos, I am not completely sold on him, but I do hope he settles further. It would be nice to see us use this as a confidence boost and push on from here. Shrewsbury might be in a mess, but they are a decent enough team. Matthew Dennis now has 2 goals, and Alassana Jatta is back. I look forward to the weekend, but before that I await the full match video on the OS.

Where are they now? Cedwyn Scott
Cedwyn Scott is better than the level South Shields are at, so he should fit in and refind himself with them. I just hope he can maintain a positive attitude towards playing, because if he moves on and this becomes a regular thing, then his career could be hindered. I hope he manages to make South Shields a competitive team and that he can earn a promotion with them. I do find it weird when managers say the club signed a player because he fit the system then, but that it has changed and they can't find a place for him, It's basically suggesting he's not good enough.

Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
I haven't seen Shrewsbury Town play this season, although I have been in discussion with @shrewswill and @friendlyshrew who has mentioned that they haven't been performing their best. Defensively, I am told they are "dire" and struggle to defend in key moments. I don't know if they have watched any of our games, but it could be entertaining for all the wrong reasons. Notts just have to work much harder than they have been, communicate, and get into areas where they can cause Shrewsbury headaches. I do have a good feeling, as I think we would have hit the training ground and focused on a lot of the negatives we have seen during the games so far. It would be ideal if Martin Paterson introduced Nick Tsaroulla as a starting player. I would look at avoiding starting Kellan Gordon, but it's not like Keanan Bennetts has been any better, but I do think he's the better of the two going forward. I am sure Gordon will have his moments, but right now I don't think he deserves to start. We need to be more focused in our passing at the back, avoid giving the ball away, and play into space. Pass and move, find the opening space, and be constructive. Paterson would be wise to drill in that passing back must be the last resort, with consideration of just lumping the ball forward if passes are hard. At least this way, we don't invite pressure, and we can then retain a positive shape. You never know, it might cause issues for the defence, and some of our pacier players might gain an advantage from it. I would rather lose the ball with us trying something different than gift it away or pass into areas where it is impossible to retain Half of our problem so far stems from the lack of football intelligence in our movement going forward. We can't just give the ball to someone and hope they can make the space open up; others have to try to assist and support the attacking players.

PFA EFL2 Team of the season
It's harsh to say it's horrendous that we didn't go up; we should have, and I think had we managed to cover the squad's injuries better, we might have stayed on course. Having three players listed is great, but there have been teams that have struggled in the past and still have made the Team of the Season. I am not entirely sure why some of these awards are so late to be announced. It should have been done at least by the end of pre-season.

FAWNL CUP: Notts County Women v Derby County
Hard luck, ladies! Derby County women would be expected to win this game, so I don't think it's done them any injustice or shown our girls up. I am encouraged to see how they do and wish them more success in the league. PS. Even though the graphics are basic, they are a million times nicer to look at now. Good job to the person(s) providing the updates.

Weekly Chat - Monday 18th to Sunday 24th August
Ah, nobody comes here to read about me complaining. Unfortunately, I am having to rest today and have decided to miss tonight's game. Jake isn't feeling all that well himself; he has some bug, but mine is related to joint and back pain. My friend who takes me to games and his partner are working, and that would have made it easier because I could rest between walks. I have committed to going to Tranmere, which we enjoyed last season and @super_pie is coming with us. In other things, I have been focusing on the football app. It's bringing to life important areas of the site, with improvements being made by the dev who's doing an awesome job. I will be focusing on making sure every page is updated, along with appropriate widgets on display. I know that's not exactly exciting, but you would be amazed how it can bring a community to life.

Bundesliga coming to YouTube
This is awesome! I am trying to watch as much football in my free time, whilst doing PON stuff that I can, and being able to watch the Bundesliga would be a nice way to get in some games from overseas. I watched Southampton vs Ipswich and Crystal Palace vs Chelsea. It would be nice to educate myself about German football, as I am hoping to publish content about my thoughts on how Notts position themselves in games and how the tactics work, or what should be done differently. The more football I can consume, the better my understanding of difficult play styles will be. Setanta Sports is truly missed, as I watched Dutch and Italian football back in the day, along with English non-league games.

Great to have Nick back.
He got a good cheer when he was warming up in front of where I was sitting at Barrow. The stand opposite started chanting his song; you could see that it meant a lot to him. I personally think he should be among the regular starters provided he is fit; for some reason, he was in and out of Stuart Maynard's selection, but I would certainly have him ahead of Keanan Bennetts or Kellan Gordon. I dream of Tsaroulla and Will Jarvis on each side, switching over at times and bombarding the opposition defence, causing nothing but mayhem. Tsaroulla is a great talent, and I don't think we have seen the best of him in a settled squad, but I can't wait for the chance to see it happen because I think he could cause no end of trouble.

I Don't Get It – When Support Turns Sour
I understand the hurt and upset, but I don't like seeing some fans act as if Notts is more theirs when we are trying hard to fix the divisions within our fanbase. Some will allow results to linger, but I hardly think it's woke to vote for a Man of the Match from the Notts perspective just because we performed badly as a team. There's no pushing of a political or social agenda here; it's fans coming together and voting for who they feel deserves to be named the Man of the Match from the Notts perspective. Comments like this aren't worth engaging with, although it does make me wonder what it would be like if we also voted for a player from the opposing team. Would that be acceptable? Would some of our supporters be fair enough to acknowledge a player from the opposition as doing "well"? I remember sharing some of Piethagoram's scouting reports, only to receive biased comments as to why anyone would single out a player from a team we destroyed. Being unhappy that Notts played so poorly is understandable, and not everyone will be thoughtful about how they conduct themselves. I allow them to fly over my head, as I have far bigger things to focus on, and a football match doesn't compare to life. The state the world has become, being overly aggressive and negative, is just one way that the media has primed people. I am certain all fans care about Notts, but if you can't accept the situation or stand with a club you claim to be a fan of when it's needed. Don't stand with them when they're winning. This is to the types of people who told x, y, and z (players) to get out of the club just because of our poor start to the season.

Who's is your Man of the Match against Barrow?
Well done to Matt Palmer, that's two Man of the Matches so far. I wish Barrow's was under different circumstances, because some might feel it's solely due to how poor the others were, but I do think he's been one of our better players in the three games we've played. I really hope he can continue that impact and help kick the others into upping their own game.

Game 3: Match Discussion: The Bluebirds (A)
I thought Sonny Aljofree played fine; admittedly, I struggled to see the 2nd half, but in the first half he did well. His issue was, in my eyes, down to Kellan Gordon being inconsistent and indecisive. The issue for me was Rod McDonald did well enough, but Jacob Bedeau has had a very poor start to the season. Watching him is quite frustrating because he will do something good, then make a rushed pass. He gets the ball in space, then lunges forward with no purpose, then passes the ball back. For me, the issue is the major lack of movement and communication seems to be quite nonexistent. When we get the ball, we try to pass it around in a way that makes it difficult to move forward because so many players have it drilled into their heads that they must stay behind the ball or in line with it. Despite my comments about Bedeau, it's the midfield that is holding us back. There's zero desire to get forward, no neat overlays, no support. Everything good that Barrow did as a team, we did just as poorly. Barrow is a sly, physical team, but they attacked the game well. They deserved the goal, and if pulling off a lucky goal near the end is enough to say we were denied a point based on our performance, I am sorry to say I don't think we deserved anything from the game. For me to find fewer positives than negatives is really a sign of how bad it is. Notts didn't even play well enough for 5 minutes, let alone 30. In the dying moments of the game, we sneak a goal, which was well taken, and I wished more than anything Matthew Dennis had more of a reason to celebrate his goal rather than being pushed into it. Our shape is also a major problem with harder-working teams, as they don't have to stretch the play to create chances; they can just overload us, and then the pressure becomes too much, leading to a very well-executed goal, even though at the game there were doubts over offside. Notts are neither good in goal, defensively, nor from an attacking point of view. I am inclined to believe that, upon reflection and hindsight, our slow recruitment and German tour were nothing but a hindrance. We have overloaded the midfield with so many players that need to get to the same speed, and this must be improved in training. As for games, I don't think Matty Platt made any difference. He gave the ball away more than Bedeau and looked generally clumsy, which is strange. Paterson needs to get the players talking; he needs to drill in the desire of wanting the ball and movement. The players have to work harder, but despite what I feel is fair and constructive criticism, I am not going to abuse them, no matter how far I have traveled and no matter how long I have supported the club. What disappoints me the most is some fans behaviour, their excuses to be abusive. Though these are probably the first to celebrate them when things are going well, if you truly loved Notts vent fairly and don't ruin the game for others with nonsense. Are you seeking memorable experiences? Accept the bad in hopes of better days; otherwise, I fail to see how those types of supporters are any better than mercenary players who have zero connection to the teams they represent.

Who's is your Man of the Match against Barrow?
Sonny Aljofree, he should never have gone off. The best defender on the pitch, he overshadowed Rod McDonald and Jacob Bedeau, making them appear significantly less experienced. It's just a shame Aljofree had to contend with Kellan Gordon being alongside him, as he offered little defensive support. McDonald performed adequately, while Bedeau made an effort but fell short. Midfield is the area where we are struggling the most; as much as I love Matt Palmer and he did do well, there's not enough from him or those around him. Matthew Dennis didn't have much service, so I personally don't see how he can be rated or voted on.
