  1. Ah, nobody comes here to read about me complaining. Unfortunately, I am having to rest today and have decided to miss tonight's game. Jake isn't feeling all that well himself; he has some bug, but mine is related to joint and back pain. My friend who takes me to games and his partner are working, and that would have made it easier because I could rest between walks. I have committed to going to Tranmere, which we enjoyed last season and @super_pie is coming with us. In other things, I have been focusing on the football app. It's bringing to life important areas of the site, with improvements being made by the dev who's doing an awesome job. I will be focusing on making sure every page is updated, along with appropriate widgets on display. I know that's not exactly exciting, but you would be amazed how it can bring a community to life.
  2. This is awesome! I am trying to watch as much football in my free time, whilst doing PON stuff that I can, and being able to watch the Bundesliga would be a nice way to get in some games from overseas. I watched Southampton vs Ipswich and Crystal Palace vs Chelsea. It would be nice to educate myself about German football, as I am hoping to publish content about my thoughts on how Notts position themselves in games and how the tactics work, or what should be done differently. The more football I can consume, the better my understanding of difficult play styles will be. Setanta Sports is truly missed, as I watched Dutch and Italian football back in the day, along with English non-league games.
  3. He got a good cheer when he was warming up in front of where I was sitting at Barrow. The stand opposite started chanting his song; you could see that it meant a lot to him. I personally think he should be among the regular starters provided he is fit; for some reason, he was in and out of Stuart Maynard's selection, but I would certainly have him ahead of Keanan Bennetts or Kellan Gordon. I dream of Tsaroulla and Will Jarvis on each side, switching over at times and bombarding the opposition defence, causing nothing but mayhem. Tsaroulla is a great talent, and I don't think we have seen the best of him in a settled squad, but I can't wait for the chance to see it happen because I think he could cause no end of trouble.
  4. I want my money back, @Fan of Big Tone. This game stinks sometimes. Wordle 1,522 6/6 ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ ⬛⬛🟨⬛🟨 ⬛🟨🟨⬛🟨 🟨🟨🟨⬛⬛ 🟨🟩🟨🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How on earth did you manage to guess the word on your fourth attempt after those previous clues? You jammy sod.

  6. I understand the hurt and upset, but I don't like seeing some fans act as if Notts is more theirs when we are trying hard to fix the divisions within our fanbase. Some will allow results to linger, but I hardly think it's woke to vote for a Man of the Match from the Notts perspective just because we performed badly as a team. There's no pushing of a political or social agenda here; it's fans coming together and voting for who they feel deserves to be named the Man of the Match from the Notts perspective. Comments like this aren't worth engaging with, although it does make me wonder what it would be like if we also voted for a player from the opposing team. Would that be acceptable? Would some of our supporters be fair enough to acknowledge a player from the opposition as doing "well"? I remember sharing some of Piethagoram's scouting reports, only to receive biased comments as to why anyone would single out a player from a team we destroyed. Being unhappy that Notts played so poorly is understandable, and not everyone will be thoughtful about how they conduct themselves. I allow them to fly over my head, as I have far bigger things to focus on, and a football match doesn't compare to life. The state the world has become, being overly aggressive and negative, is just one way that the media has primed people. I am certain all fans care about Notts, but if you can't accept the situation or stand with a club you claim to be a fan of when it's needed. Don't stand with them when they're winning. This is to the types of people who told x, y, and z (players) to get out of the club just because of our poor start to the season.
  7. Well done to Matt Palmer, that's two Man of the Matches so far. I wish Barrow's was under different circumstances, because some might feel it's solely due to how poor the others were, but I do think he's been one of our better players in the three games we've played. I really hope he can continue that impact and help kick the others into upping their own game.

  11. I thought Sonny Aljofree played fine; admittedly, I struggled to see the 2nd half, but in the first half he did well. His issue was, in my eyes, down to Kellan Gordon being inconsistent and indecisive. The issue for me was Rod McDonald did well enough, but Jacob Bedeau has had a very poor start to the season. Watching him is quite frustrating because he will do something good, then make a rushed pass. He gets the ball in space, then lunges forward with no purpose, then passes the ball back. For me, the issue is the major lack of movement and communication seems to be quite nonexistent. When we get the ball, we try to pass it around in a way that makes it difficult to move forward because so many players have it drilled into their heads that they must stay behind the ball or in line with it. Despite my comments about Bedeau, it's the midfield that is holding us back. There's zero desire to get forward, no neat overlays, no support. Everything good that Barrow did as a team, we did just as poorly. Barrow is a sly, physical team, but they attacked the game well. They deserved the goal, and if pulling off a lucky goal near the end is enough to say we were denied a point based on our performance, I am sorry to say I don't think we deserved anything from the game. For me to find fewer positives than negatives is really a sign of how bad it is. Notts didn't even play well enough for 5 minutes, let alone 30. In the dying moments of the game, we sneak a goal, which was well taken, and I wished more than anything Matthew Dennis had more of a reason to celebrate his goal rather than being pushed into it. Our shape is also a major problem with harder-working teams, as they don't have to stretch the play to create chances; they can just overload us, and then the pressure becomes too much, leading to a very well-executed goal, even though at the game there were doubts over offside. Notts are neither good in goal, defensively, nor from an attacking point of view. I am inclined to believe that, upon reflection and hindsight, our slow recruitment and German tour were nothing but a hindrance. We have overloaded the midfield with so many players that need to get to the same speed, and this must be improved in training. As for games, I don't think Matty Platt made any difference. He gave the ball away more than Bedeau and looked generally clumsy, which is strange. Paterson needs to get the players talking; he needs to drill in the desire of wanting the ball and movement. The players have to work harder, but despite what I feel is fair and constructive criticism, I am not going to abuse them, no matter how far I have traveled and no matter how long I have supported the club. What disappoints me the most is some fans behaviour, their excuses to be abusive. Though these are probably the first to celebrate them when things are going well, if you truly loved Notts vent fairly and don't ruin the game for others with nonsense. Are you seeking memorable experiences? Accept the bad in hopes of better days; otherwise, I fail to see how those types of supporters are any better than mercenary players who have zero connection to the teams they represent.
  12. Sonny Aljofree, he should never have gone off. The best defender on the pitch, he overshadowed Rod McDonald and Jacob Bedeau, making them appear significantly less experienced. It's just a shame Aljofree had to contend with Kellan Gordon being alongside him, as he offered little defensive support. McDonald performed adequately, while Bedeau made an effort but fell short. Midfield is the area where we are struggling the most; as much as I love Matt Palmer and he did do well, there's not enough from him or those around him. Matthew Dennis didn't have much service, so I personally don't see how he can be rated or voted on.

  14. It's new ground for me, which I am looking forward to seeing, even if it is a typical non-league stadium. The thing that concerns me is how they haven't yet started their season off as they would want, and we are still seeking our first win. We can't really factor in Newport or Salford in terms of our performances, and that leads me to just hope that we do play with more intent on goal and less carelessness in passing the ball. I would like us to try to attack through the middle; yes, we have good wide players, but it shouldn't rule out just how much space can open up in this area. I also wasn't aware until I read @gtownjohnno's comment that Regan Booty had signed for them. I always liked him; in fact, I still have his print on my wall near my desktop. I just hope we are brighter and more alert, because a draw or worse could really drag on this start to the season. It's early days, but we really need to step things up sooner or later. I am sure we'll give a good account of ourselves (at least the fans). 😉
  15. This I can understand, as it's very common for parents to keep a lock of their babies hair when it's first cut. Though much of the other stuff is very morbid, which explains why they had a fasincation with Jack the Ripper and all those type of things. Re: Death card, a fortune teller once spoke at my school and they said that the tarot card for it wasn't always a bad sign. Not that many believed her, but I have heard it spoken in films and TV. Queen Victoria wearing all black is probably the saddest anyone could look for the rest of their life.
  16. This could be a very good way for me to take in some information about the German league, so consider me interested in being educated. I might be able to tell Jake something he doesn't know the next time he beats me on FC 2025, or whatever version it is. I will also be keeping tabs on Darmstadt, as some of their fans have been very friendly to Notts since the friendly game between us and them. It would be nice if we could invite them to play at Meadow Lane in the future.
  17. I’d never realised how common “death photos” once were, families dressing recently deceased loved ones for a final portrait, even using hot wax to keep their eyes open so they appeared to pose. It’s fascinating but pretty morbid, and I’m glad the practice has fallen out of favour. WRM’s post is packed with quirky details, plenty of which were new to me.
  18. They are still very much strapped for cash due to overspending previous seasons, though that doesn't stop Premier League teams from accumilating debt and spending more money. Snippet from BBC Sport Everton's net debt rose to £330.6m in their latest accounts, and having fallen foul of financial rules which led to deductions totalling eight points last season, any spending will need to be invested wisely. Upon completion of the deal on Thursday, incoming Everton chairman Friedkin said in an open letter to supporters: "Whilst we are new to the club, we fully understand the vital role Everton plays in local culture, history, and the lives of Evertonians here and around the world." The new executive chairman Marc Watts added: "As stewards of Everton, we look forward to showing our commitment to the club through actions, not words. "Our long-term vision is to harness the passion of fans and great qualities of the club to realise Everton's full potential." Their new chairman should be able to invest, but Everton won't improve all that much. They need to invest too much to compete with the upper table, and I doubt they'll even make it past mid-table. Which is a shame, because Everton have some talented young players, that could prove themselves. Personally, for Jack Grealish this will be a loan to other clubs to say "come get me". His price tag and potential current wages might lose bidders, but if he does well for Everton even though I don't fancy them to do well in the league table standings. It could be his way to attract a german club to come in for him. Dortmund reportedly expressed interest in him; however, his salary became a significant hurdle. I guess Everton might be willing to contribute more to Man City as a means to get a good player. It's a better move for Everton, than it would appear to me for Jack himself. Though, I wish and hope he does well because he's too good for them.
  19. @Robbie, the lightweight theme does the scrolling thing in a different way. I made them transparent until pressed on both desktop and laptop. I also made it so that they don't interfere with the footer/copyright. With the default/main theme, it is only transparent on mobiles because of the lack of space at the side. On a desktop, they show to the side. These can be useful when you are scrolling long pages, something I missed from v4.
  20. I have implemented scrolls into both of the themes. Don't know how to change how the site looks? At the very bottom of the site, you will find a footer with a row of links. "Theme" | Privacy Policy | Contact Us | Cookies Click on the theme and choose from there. In the future, a third option will be added.
  21. @Michael D Pie., not at all. I totally get that tech stuff can be a bit tricky for some people, and that's totally okay! I just want everyone to feel comfortable asking for help whenever they need it. I'll do my best to explain things in a way that makes sense. I kind of threw a lot at you all at once in the beginning. Visit this URL: https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/settings/links/ You can change how certain parts of the site feel and look. If there's a change in the screenshots I provided above which you would like to try, and you are unsure which section applies. Please ask me.
  22. Today is meant to be warmer than yesterday, but so far, at least from where I am, this is not the case. Though my area does warm up between 1–4 pm, which I am hoping doesn't get too hot, because it is unbearable. I have been saving some ice cream as a means to keep cool, which is helpful, but only for as long as it works.
  23. @Fan of Big Tone, just play around with the settings. You'll quickly find which you prefer as your preference.
  24. When someone used to join, I didn't limit the account in any way. However, to actively encourage members to take part in the site and community, PON implemented a starting user group called "NewPie". By default, this disabled the ability for people who didn't engage to use the site's PM system. There were other restrictions to give more benefits to those who hung around long enough to earn an automatic upgrade from the base level to the members group. Once a member makes 10 posts anywhere on the site, they'll would get bumped up to the members group. This is no longer the case; I have increased the amount by at least 100%. Further member benefits will be reviewed, as will the subscribers group gain some extra access. All user groups outside of the 'NewPie' group will be able to choose what layout they would prefer to use in certain parts of the Pride of Nottingham site. This includes the forum index, topic list, topic view, store, and blogs. Forum: By default, I have it set to Grid: Display forums as cards in a grid. However, you can choose from the following: Table: A traditional forum index table view. Fluid: A simpler dynamic listing topics with a forum filter box. This is a style that a lot of Notts fans will be used to. It removes the forums and lists all the topics in one area, and in the sidebar, you will have the ability to toggle on and off what forum sections show. We do kindly ask that you carefully consider where content should be posted, even if you use this style, as it allows the site to remain organised. Keeping things neat and tidy, but more importantly, allowing you to choose how you wish the community forum page to look. Content Focused: Card View This will display each forum, then every subforum beneath. To the right, the latest 5 topics from within all of them. Topic List View Condensed View: Show topics as a list. (default) Expanded View: Show topics with a preview of the post. Topic View Alternative style from what you are used to. Content Focused: Simplified View Tablet/Mobile Now the good bit: how do you choose how you wish for what style to look like? Inside your 'Content Preference'. Just click the link and please choose carefully. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/settings/links/ I want everyone to feel at home, and by allowing you to tweak the styles to your own preference, I hope this helps. Not finished reading? Then please check these out. And lastly! Whilst you are considering what styles you wish to set within your content preference, please choose how you would like content to open.
  25. I don't recall seeing the houses that Granny Pie once told me about quite like that; it looks like houses were built on the cattle market land. If only we could go back in time and purchase much of this land up. How different could Meadow Lane really be? Then again, the old stands were something nostalgic, and I like how we have a traditional ground now.
