  1. A fine typically isn't enough, because most teams in the Championship can more than likely afford it, so where is the punishment? Look how it doesn't deter Premier League teams from breaking rules. Spying on a team training is incredibly risky, and 4 points isn't remotely impactful. It does punish the fans, but so would a transfer embargo, or other limiting player based activity. I would have at least docked 6-8 points, because that's the only way I can see it sending a clear message.
  2. @Fan of Big Tone Sorry to read this. :(
  3. Thank you, @StarkMallard and @Robbie. 🫶🏻
  4. I can message a fan that I believe can help you, with regards to value I think it's more about what people are willing to pay. Rather than them holding value, I have a signed home shirt by the full squad from the season we were relegated, and I couldn't even gift away. I had another, which had been donated to charity and a person came forward asking me to sell it for him. I just bought it to help them but nobody really seems all that interested in owning them. I gave one to my son's collection, and I gave the other to a friend. The 07/08 might be of more interest to people, since I can't imagine many are around. Whereas Alan Hardy distributed signed shirts to people and charities as freely as a dentist gives out sugar free lollipops.
  5. @theAnticlough reminds of Leeds United when they used drones to watch Derby County, I don't recall what happened with regards to that but it's our sight cheating. It's a bit silly because it shows Southampton paid more attention to Middlesborough than to getting ready for the game themselves. If you resort to spying then you are focused on the wrong thing all together.
  6. It was brilliant to see the stadium looking so full, it always is and that is my main takeaway. I was among the volunteers that helped to get the KOP flag surfing, and I took every chance I could to take in the stands as I waited for the signal. Mark joined me to help, and I had hoped Jake would, but I can understand it was overwhelming. Upon entering the ground, I yet again had issues with some very untrained stewards who grabbed me and then blocked me from walking even though her college had said we could go through after Jake showed our tickets. Such an irrating experience, especially to be forcefully held against the side wall. After helping surf the KOP's flag, I helped to carry it out from pitch side even though Logan Bruce said I could go back to my seat. I noticed that the person in front of me was struggling, so I sorted my section and tried to sort his. Then helped it out, but upon trying to get back to my seat the same stewards stopped me. I can't help but feel the temporary fillers can be jobsworths. They tried to stop me because Jake had my ticket, even though they waved Mark, who was rushing to get back to his seat. Whilst I genuinely felt tired and almost like my heart was going to expload. Only to have the same stewards try to stop me, though I explained that I had helped with the KOP flag pitch side, that they had already let me through and moments ago waved my friend through. I get that they must see quite a lot of faces but it pisses me off, I just barged through them and went to my seat moaning like the soon to be old 39-year-old I am. It took away from the occasion, made it frustrating when it needed not be and they did absolutely nothing to stop the pitch invaders. I said to one of the stewards that manhandled me, "see I didn't even go on the pitch, yet you did more to stop me even though I had "Look, I didn't even try to enter the pitch but I noticed you made more of an effort to prevent me from obtaining my rightful seat than any of the pitch invaders. You shouldn't put hands on people, call for support if you think it's needed and then use reasonable force but don't ever touch a fan who has a valid ticket." Also, I noticed a senior steward throwing elbows and punches at an elderly fan. This caught the attention of the group of 10-12 fans near me, and he got mobbed by others who lashed back at him. Stupid idiots could have caused a riot, very poor stewarding I am afraid to say.
  7. It might have felt like I had slipped on the face of PON, as I have been coding more than anything. I want to hit 100% on the resource front for performance and optimisation ASAP, so I can focus on deliverying the best season for PON in terms of content. So, my annivsary drifted past and Cheeky didn't seem to want to celebrate it at all. In fact, she only said happy annivsary at 12:01am the day after. 😂 That life sentence must be getting to her, but I am going to make sure we do something as a family for it next time. We have all been busy with various things, and what with Jake's birthday and then mine. I can understand why Kate would want to focus on other things. Plus other things coming up soon, which will prevent me from going to Wembley. I have to put family time first, I spent years on holiday doing PON stuff but you realise it can wait. Lately, aside from the odd day, I have just been knee deep in code.
  8. I am officially that old that at times I forget how old I am exactly, I didn't celebrate my birthday. I haven't since I was a mid-teen, but I made the day matter, which I think is the main thing. I wished that I could have made it up to pay respect to my mum, as I would have felt some peace from that and after all she did most of the work that put me on this earth. What I did was go visit Super but before I did I took him some bred, milk and two bottles of Dandilion and Burdock. It was nice to spend time with my dad, even if he didn't like that I wouldn't let him pay. 😂 The more he makes a fuss of this, the more I will simply refuse because it's my job, and it's nice to wind him up a little. Jake went with me, and it didn't fly by as it normally would, so I felt like it was extra quality time with the old goat. Returning home, I rested and learned that Cheeky had made me some mini vicorian sponges. 😍 We had something to eat together as a family. I felt grateful for all the birthday messages and cards I got. Thank you for your warm comments; I do appreciate them.
  9. Dispite of his complaints that Notts playing on his birthday "messed up his day". He had a good time and enjoyed it. Did anyone notice the message I paid to have put up on the scoreboard? Or, even read out loud by Andy? Thank you for the birthday messages for Jake, I will let him know.
  10. People who were against Gareth Southgate might come to appreciate him, he took a squad with zero hope and restored a nation's pride. All this talk of how we should have won something under him, it's all nonsense as far as I am concerned. We had a weak defence on paper, perhaps the worst in decades and he found players that fit his system. Before we started progressing, people wanted England to win ugly but complained when we did. When he reserved players, he received criticism from people who claimed we should have taken risks with them during important games when players weren’t rested. He faced excessive criticism because people view Southgate as boring. He got England playing, usually decent football with an average midfield, which blossomed due to his connection to the U21s. I wished we still had him as the manager, or that we had replaced him better. It feels like England are restarting from square one, and a German should never have been appointed as our manager. Simply due to the rivalry, but some will say fans wanted Sir Alex. Scotland is different, it's not about the wars but how often we face Germany. There were complaints about Sven and Capello due to their nationality.
  11. I personally think certain decisins should be without appeal, because it's ultimately down to the FA to do their homework and if they feel able to legally place charges than I think the decision should be respected. The appeal should come with a further point reduction, as it's pathetic that they are even trying to counter the decision. On that note, I feel sorry for their fans but a 4 point reduction isn't really much of a punishment.
  12. I realise if I don't mention the changes most people won't know, therefore it is somewhat counter productive. Our custom Catch Up app has had major updates to the way that the "What's New" page works. I will be updating it again sometime, to make the blocks more full, but I have saved some room for tweaking if I add more to it. The Leaderboard now has a split between members and the PON team. I have done this to help encourage the team, but also give a fairer acknowledgement to the members who are actively making a difference. PON News, which is our general account for posting news, and automated activity is omitted from the results. * I am monitoring the leaderboard notifications, as I fixed an issue where the link from the notification was broken. These must be reliable, so I will check this and I would appreciate it if those named can let me know too. In addition to that, I am watching the changes in general to ensure no bugs occur. From this date onwards, topics that reach over 10 replies will see a new "Topic Summary" next to the "Who Viewed this Content" at the very top. The basic version is available for all, but an enhanced version is available for subscribers and team members. This gives you a quick insight into the discussion, and reacts to match based ones depending on what stage of the conversation is at. So, pre-match, during and post-game. Very useful to see what stands out, what you might think to add and just a useful feature to gain a quick view of a topic. You can now write a status via the + Create menu, why not tell the community what you are doing? or about your day? Much like you would on X or other social media sites. The donate page is being actively updated, @BigNCFC has kindly donated and the subscription page/packages have been updated. Subscribers/Team Members will re-gain access to a more advanced stats page, which shares interesting analytics about the site. This is coming soon, I have built it but it's in testing stages. Previous discussed pending changes are also in testing or optimisation stages.
  13. I would say PON is 70% optimised at additional resource level. I have made good progress with new features; these are being built with the same mindset that they are performance-focused and efficient to the highest standard. I know things have been a little quiet, but I encourage you to keep creating content and supporting discussions; I will try to be a bit more active myself. There're some new features I haven't mentioned, some outside that are coming but I won't go into them. I'll leave you to find them! There may be bugs, but I am actively fixing and working on the dev version of the site but sometimes the live environment behaves differently. Please do report them, and don't be shy or afraid to reach out. I love helping, and doing my best by Notts fans that it's honestly no bother at all. I would rather be told, so I can help, fix and make improvements. Subscribers will be noticing some additional changes geared towards offering value to them too, as it's very vital the site is supported. None of this can happen without some engagement, support, or other kinds of help, not at all. Thank you for your continued efforts.
  14. Your wish is my command. Could you remind me about your other point about mobile navigation? I have a note on my to-do-list, but I haven't expresed it clearly enough, and I now don't recall the original point. I'll look into this at the same time, and make sure it's implemented. Thank you, for the kind comments. I think it's partly my own fault, but I am older now (not wiser). There are many fans who were once somewhat involved but have since drifted away, along with regulars who come and go. Partly I need to remind people, as a gentle push but I did run before the site could walk. I have also allowed the negative experience I had when I first started the site, to control my narritive which in hindsight I wished I didn't trust those who was in my ear but ultimately it comes back to me. I don't believe in division among fans, we should all try to get along which isn't always possible but anything that puts Notts' name out in a good light, allows fans to stay connected is a good thing. I wished more could see just how much I care about Notts, and how much dedication I have put in, but then it's never been about me, but the community and what we can achieve together.
  15. @Fan of Big Tone: You won't see a manager flip between mind games, tantrums and trying to put himself across as a 'nice guy' in his press conferences. Only to make his true behaviour more obvious when the camera during games pans onto him, I am surprised he wasn't sent to the sends for swearing at the foruth official. He's a very childish, and pathetic manager. It's that time of year when things are all systems go for me, and my family. Wedding anniversary coming up, Jake's birthday on Friday (3 pointer present I hope) and mine 3 days after. My head is still in code, but I also have had a bug I thankfully mostly recovered over. I had a blast on the day trip with Super, Mark and Katrina to Skegness. We're thinking about doing others, so it would be nice for my dad. York is somewhere that might be on the cards, as the medevieal part is something of interest that has been mentioned, what with its history and connection to Harry Potter. Also, I feel like I am reducing my weight, which is promising. I am going to try to go to a gym with Mark and Jake, provided the latter doesn't keep saying he's busy.
  16. I haven't had a chance to watch any other than Notts, I did see the highlights of some and I think Stockport County were very fortunate to have scored. Not that I think the Stevenage keeper had any merits in his appeals. I just think the goal ending up in the back of the net was fortunate, but I know both teams had some good chances which perhaps deserved to have gone in more than that. On the Ex-Notts front, it's good to see so many players involved in other teams success. It wasn't that long ago (or feels) that we very rarely saw any players on the up, instead on the down and out. Further signs of progress, I think.
  17. Following up on the announcement made back in April, I have continued to focus on performance, efficacy, and optimisation that improves the site. Whilst improving on existing features, and bringing in new ones to offer more to the community. Before I dive into this, I just wanted to apologise for the down time yesterday. PON experienced the issue twice, although this was my own fault and I won't be skipping the live dev site in the future. All resources and chages will be tested there, however, to explain I do local testing which I felt was meaningful enough but this ultimately wasn't a wise idea. This was quickly shared on the PON Status page, quickly investigated and not long after resolved: https://status.prideofnottingham.co.uk/ I have improved numourous resources which all focus on making them to the highest grade in terms of their performance as possible, for about a week and a half I have had OPcache running. This alone makes a signicant improvement, as it can improve demanding PHP pages alone by 30% up to 70%. By going through the demanding applications that make up PON, this further makes a massive difference to the way the site performs and loads. Some might have noticed whilst visiting the site that the status page has a nice badge button, and a new one has been added for some time that delivers a new experience - called 'What's New'. These badge buttons have been added now to the mobile navigation. So, what does the page do? It's a new hub that focuses on live, and new content. This isn't a replacement for the dashboard, or any other areas. It is intended to suppliment the community, by offering a different experience, that allows you to stay tuned with what is happening, where your time could be spent to help discussion content but also to ease the time you may have to joining in more. The page updates automatically every 60 seconds automatically. It efficiently handles this without impacting the site by focusing only on new content and changes which have been made. At the top, you will see latest topics, items unread, items without replies, items that are active and status updates. So you don't lose your place: all content opens up in a new tab. If you pause, or become inactive, the page will queitely halt until your session becomes active again. This is a smart way of protecting resources, and it means nothing is wasted. All you need do is re-engage with the page for it to resume. Please help support other community members by trying to spare some time for discussion which might not have gained traction. You can view the what's new page here: https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/whats-new/ Just one or two comments can impact a discussion, and lead to further responses as it develops and interests readers. Throughout the site, it also adds a badge to encourage activity and if discussions are actively replied to within 15 minutes, a live badge will show making the topic as an area of activity happening right now. Status posts now will show on the all activity page. This is a useful way to express how you feel, what you are doing and a way for members to get to know you better outside of discussions. This is a feature which I use, but will be using more of. I have made signicant custom improvements to the moods application, and whilst I focused on optimising it. Adding a very important feature called 'Lazy loading'. I enhanced it by including a search field, which will automatically suggest a mood if your term isn't found or it will show you the exact mood you want. I will ensure the search field is added to the responsive nicely, as I have just checked and it isn't working as intended. I'll have this patched ASAP, later on. Topic Surveillance is back, despite the name it's just a mode for topics which slows down the responses and can lead to approval if things gets out of hand. It's a very important tool for moderation, and to avoid upset. Coming Soon: Community Notifications: This will allow me/team members to send a custom inline notification to members. Automated Newsletters: Choose how you would like to get newsletters, weekly and specials. These will focus on site content, but it will be down to you to choose what makes the cut so you can personalise them. This won't replace the newsletters I intend to send out to those who subscribe, which will feature guest writers. This is a different newsletter scheme, which will be introduced ahead of next season. Automated Newsletters, will include my own take on what's happening around Notts, but the rest will be down to what you want to see. Monthly Awards: Returning the Member(s) of the Month, plus other acknowledgements such as Best Post of the Month - including rewards for certain ones at times. Explore Feeds: Will be another means to engage with content, as this will be geared to match day content, and grouping site areas into active feeds that members can cater to their browsing habits. Content Limits: This will be introduced after the Play-Offs, only guests and NewPie members will be effected. Participating can provide NewPie members with additional daily limits. This is built and ready for deployment, but I want the season to be concluded before I introduce it. The Jimmy Sirrel stand forum remains open without limits, meaning guests can read all the content posted there but will hit limits in other areas. Groundhoppers: This will allow members to mark which of the 92 teams and grounds they have visited, not just this, but you can mark off historic grounds and your profile will display relevant information. You can have it set to public, private or to followers only. Some information will be public, the majority will be based on your preference though. You can even leave comments about grounds, past-games which are private to you or your preference. History: I will be bringing all of our club's history into the site, past seasons, fixtures, goalscorers, and all that historical good stuff. There's a few more, which will gain more attention during the close season. Stay tuned; please continue to join in and help spread the word! Thank you for taking the time to read this announcement, and please let me know your thoughts + what new feature you like the most.
  18. For me, it was between Rod McDonald and Jayden Luker and I think at different times upon reflection I might be tempted to choose differently. McDonald was brilliant at the back, I think all were but maybe Lucas Ness was a bit clumby and the player Chesterfield caused more trouble with. Jacob Bedau deserves a shout out, as does Nick Tsaroulla. However, I went with Luker because I remember saying how I failed to see where he fit in upon his return and whilst he's done okay. Excelled at times, and otherwise been invisible in spells, there's no denying he's a work horse. I felt sorry for him that the Sky pundits seemed to single him out all the time, very rarely saying anything positive and focusing too much praise on Tom Iorpenda (who was good) and Jodi Jones (acceptable but not his best). The female commenator got on my nerves describing the Chesterfield keeper as "There was absolutely nothing he could have done there". Except for using his hand? Or kick the ball? Weak keeping, poor positioning... Then saying that Luker was "lucky" to be where he was, whilst the shot wasn't exactly difficult it still went in. If you praise the keeper, and call the scorer lucky, you undermine your whole point. Luker did exceptionally well to get on to the ball, and strike it towards goal even if it was straight at the Chesterfield keeper. Who probably should have wore different "boots". I am going to have a field day with some of their players names come Friday. 😀
  19. Very poor penalty, referee has mostly allowed the game to be free flowing but some puzzling decisions. I think Notts have done well so far, but we need to see this out of get a second. Paul Cook is a miserable sod, he talks all nicely during his interviews leading into the game but becomes a clown during them.
  20. The amount of mind games from Chesterfield really makes me hope that we stay focused on our own game, and play to our best ability. If we do, I don't think they would remotely be able to handle us. Yet, I do think they will be able to manage the game, and therefore we will have to handle the situation. I am sure their players will be trying to provoke our fans in attendance to get onto the players backs, as they will try to get into our players minds. Leave them to it, focus on playing football and protecting James Belshaw. I think if we can keep 11 players on the pitch, and avoid fights or nasty challenges we should be able to play better. I do think Chesterfield are a good time, just with some negative approaches to playing which might help them but teams like us need to show we are a stronger team by performing to our standards. I would take a 0-0 draw, but I hope we avoid defeat. They will be onto Notts from the moment the first touch happens, and we need to be very focused, calm and objectively determined to show the league games means nothing. It's about pride more than anything now, Notts can do much better than we have against them this season.
  21. He said, cheers! @Fan of Big Tone
  22. @Robbie: I think their half time team talk brought constructive organisation back, and it flipped the game on its head. I don't think we lost momentum, just struggled to counter their tactics. I think we should have been 2-0 up before they scored but it was very entertaining.
  23. A rare treat for Super, my mate Mark and his partner Katrina have taken us to Skegness for the day. I wasn't expecting him to come, but it's been really nice. Not as busy as I thought it would be.
  24. Further performance and optimising going on behind the scenes, two new features added which I hope will bring attention to content that deserves a bit more traction and encourage members to get involved with them. I need to know how to implement two badge buttons nicely in to the responsive side of the site. Several applications have been successfully optimised further, which I hope will have a positive impact on visiting the site. Still many to do, and bugs are fixed upon finding them. I need to find time to polish some parts that have been introduced, but I have plenty of time for that. I feel largely better, but still struggle in some aspects. Not that it's stopping me, and I will hopefully be off to see Super shortly. He still hasn't responded to me, despite having spoken to Cheeky for almost an hour. To be fair, he will be talking to my brother now. I expect him to complain about his phone not being off the hook, but what can I say? He's clearly popular.
  25. I am aware that in the past Notts would tell players ahead of time, hence why some just didn't lok interest andothers would suddenly seem to be trying. This mindset isn't present in the way the Reedtz run the club, but I would suggest it might be a case of Notts being aware of who they will keep or let go, but wanting the playoffs to be out of the way first. Personally, I expect the retained list to come after our league status is known.
