  1. Some time ago, I watched a fan made documentary about Wimbledon's rise up to their collapse and reform. One of the clips they showed was of Notts playing them, where the challenges flown in and became quite wild. I know the late 80s and 90s Wimbledon were known for being dirty, but I found it interesting to learn about how they rose through the leagues and became football's biggest underdogs. The information shared above is extremely valuable and provides important insights.
  2. I swear we have seen this posted before, no issues if so - I just feel like déjà vu here. Jack Grealish was an incredible talent, very honoured to have seen him play for Notts. He and Callum McGregor became the best of friends during their time here together. McGregor always said Grealish would go on to boss the Premier League.
  3. Was Andrrew Lincoln's screen parter called CARLa? I don't remember seeing Drop the Dead Donkey, I know the name, and it always sounds familiarr. I assume by the time I became aware of what I would be watching in the 90s the show had finished, as I have no memories of it.
  4. I turned off my phone's FM radio at half-time. I felt very disappointed and frustrated by how poor we sounded. I decided to have a kip, woke up at 2-2, not long after they scored their third. I told @cheeky~k8, I won't listen to the games in the future as I feel like I bring bad luck. Next minute they scored the fourth from what sounded like our defence falling apart. I didn't sound like we were chasing the game. It sounded like we just fell apart when it mattered the most. Take it as a bad day in the office, but we need someone who really can take account of the defence and lead the back with a strong defensive mindset. I don't think pinning our hopes on Macari will be the answer to that, he seems more one for the future. I hate to single out players but it sounded like all the back three, including when Rawlinson came on defended rather blindly.

  6. Wishing you all the best of luck! My votes are in and things are looking quite interesting early on. Thank you for making PON more enjoyable!
  7. He seemed a nice lad, when I used to pictures for Notts - he always seemed happy and polite. I had heard there was a reputation, with his background but I always hoped he would come good. Was it Iceland where Notts toured and he scored that wonder goal? His troubles now may very well come from who he's around and the pressure of succeeding in football. Even the money he was on back then would have been nice for a young lad, when you earn a decent wage and lose it, it's hard for some to accept it. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he fell into selling drugs. I feel for him, it's daft and wrong but it shows how people can dip into bad areas.
  8. Hello, @Darryl Chapman. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  9. I don't know what to make of it, but my support is with Dan Crowley. It's hard to tell what's what when the questioning is vague, I get why but it doesn't provide those who don't know exactly. People need to be more kinder, there's enough hurt in the world as it is.

  13. I intended to go check it out and capture pictures of the fans experience, but I decided to focus on watching the game - so I didn't even see it. It looks amazing though; I know two fans who had recommended this exact thing for many years during fan meetings. So, I personally think the club should acknowledge them as it is mentioned within the fan group meeting minutes that were held during the Trew/Hardy eras. It should make a massive difference, moving around at half-time in that area of the KOP where the normal bar is getting very crowded. I think from a safety stance it will benefit the club, as I could see it being deemed unstable with how jammed it gets when we are 10k+ in attendance. People waited the entire half-time period for a pint. That should be a thing of the past now, but much of the issue was the staff itself.
  14. I wouldn't read too much into their current form, as Wimbledon are a decent team and usually lift their game for occasions like this. However, I would say it is a good time for us to be playing them and if we can create a good performance then I would fancy our chances of claiming all three points. It's not as simple as that; Notts will have to put on one of their best away displays. There's the potential Wimbledon might want to slow the game down, allowing it to become scrappy, but we need to control this by keeping the ball moving along the ground. I think our wider areas should be something that gives us a great advantage. Wimbledon will try to pack their half, when they don't have the ball. Counter-attack when the chance comes. Unfortunately, I won't be at the game, but I will be listening to it via BBC Radio Nottingham.
  15. @Piethagoram I wanted to say Jake Reeves, I was a big fan of his and still am. However, he doesn't compare to Matt Palmer. I will have to rethink this now.
  16. @Fozzy Until it does, it's a penalty all day. Under the arm (arm pit) or directly - we need to be mindful about jumping like this. Jodi Jones doesn't deserve any fault, but he should know better than to jump up in the manner that he did. I don't think the ball would have gone in but considering he might have actually seen red. Surely it would have been better to just let it safely pass over his head or block it with his back by turning away quicker. Turning his back might have been It sounds simple, but it's much more challenging in practice, but if it had gone in without being blocked then it wouldn't have had the same impact the penalty had. Then again, play shouldn't have been allowed to temporarily continue.
  17. I can't place it, but the look of it looks like something we should have built around - as I can't recall seeing anything like this and would assume it's knocked down since every train I have been on in Nottingham has been on the ground. Is it near to where the Victoria car park is?
  18. Be careful, there's talk of "Super COVID" coming any time soon and potentially causing trouble again. Supposedly if you have long term effects, you need to be extra careful as the chances of it being deadly are much higher. Either way, give it 3 more years and, something will come around again.
  19. Back at my dad's my grandfather took some photos of the old trolley trams. I can't remember where it was, it might have been Nottingham Castle where I was able to watch a video of them in operation. The sparks looked very dangerous, almost like lightening!
  20. It's a nightmare of a way to lose a game, but the only thing you can do is accept it. It's not worthy dwelling on because it's the sort of defeat which can linger and turn our good start into a downward free fall if we are not careful.
  21. @DangerousSausage The season we got relegated, things can only get better played before and after every game, not sure who's bright idea that was but it wasn't a good fit. It wasn't the entrance music mind. We need a fun remix of the black and white army, with our fans singing it.
  22. England are getting into the game now, our first was a very unfortunate goal. Nobody seemed to react like it had gone in, which I did think but with the slow reaction I then thought the deflection may have gone behind. Malta should have tried to pass the ball more when they had the control, because England started off quite messy and clumsy. Now they're looking brighter by the minute.
  23. I am not all up-to-date with regard to Everton, but they seem to have massively declined after spending a considerable amount and almost making the top 5. I don't think the FFP rules work in principle because there's no accountability until the records are sent in, therefore some clubs may risk overspending and try to cover it up. Some might have the intention of making the money back and failing but football club finances should be made publicly available for starters. I mean, not when they hand over reports, and they are reviewed. I mean instantly to the officials and not long after if required for accountability. The more something can be checked on a quicker basis, the easier it will be to fine issues and speak directly to the club to address them or issue time. Therefore, clubs may be less risky.
  24. Malta has set themselves up very, very defensively. Jodi Jones is on the bench, I suspect he will come on just after the first half, but they don't really have the quality elsewhere to ask many questions. A few minutes in, they had just had a good chance, but it was terribly placed wide. They won't have many more chances like that. Ooo, one of their players are limping. Jodi could come on sooner.
  25. It didn't click with me until a moment ago, who he is exactly but having read his Wiki I now know who he is. Being from Oxford and having that connection might help him, it seems his career in coaching and management is an interesting one. A lot of good managers are coming across from New Zealand and Australia. Good luck to him.
