After the abuse some of our so-called fans gave him, I am not surprised that he has given up the armband. I doubt the club would have asked him to drop it, I firmly believe he handed it in based on much of the crappy comments I have seen directed at him from last season. What are League Two players? Whilst we were in the National League, head coaches of ours such as Luke Williams referred to players as the standard we were in - instead of ex Premier League, Championship etc. Whilst, I think the quality of a player shines beyond this label - technically we just need players who are easy enough to adapt to the standard. Good players will, some ageing like Connell Rawlinson won't make the grade, but he gives his all. He may very well suit another League Two team's tactics better, once he has moved on, he may become a good signing for them. He's been a decent player for us, but it is time for us to seek better. I have always said that teams sometimes need something a little different. I liked Terry Hawkridge when he was here and whilst he wasn't the best of players - he had something different about him. Players of his mould, that work hard might be branded x standard, but really they're just players who know their limitations, yet push themselves to be more consistent and good at what they can do. The same thing applies to Sam Osborne, I feel. He was never given a fair chance, and Kevin Nolan made a huge mistake by saying he was no better than what we had - when he was inexperienced and learning his place. His fight and determination made things happen, so whilst some players might not be the best. It's good to have hard workers in your team, people who are different but at the end of the day, quality shines and if we can sign players from any league - then get the best out of them. That is the main thing, otherwise we will have fans complaining that they're not good enough, especially once we do gain promotion back to League One.

I watched on the news, an elderly lady talking about her husband. D-Day is always something which evokes emotion and pride in those who fought so bravely. In another 80 years, I hope those who are living continue to respect the brave. They earned our freedom and those of France. The word liberation tends to be bandied around lightly when people go to arms, but this was one of the defining moments which ended World War II and should always be treated with respect.

It would be nice, but then the shape of the club and what it stands for might be lost. Personally, I would be happy with being a good League One club that is good enough to gain promotion to the Championship, but is never at any risk of relegation to League Two. Teams like Peterborough United have done excellently in this regard. When I was younger, they weren't a club that I would imagine seeing playing higher than the 3rd or 4th tier. They did remarkably well to use their player assets as a means to fund their progression, so a similar thing for us would be nice. It's great having players like Macaulay Langstaff and retaining the best ones is very much unlike us. However, I wouldn't begrudge seeing players sold for a good fee, then reinvested - instead of losing them completely as a free agent when their contracts are up. Spending our budgets wisely, navigating the leagues would be nice to see. In regard to the Premier League, it would be nice to see Notts there in my lifetime but fans who were lucky enough to see the club in the topflight. It's not the same as the pressures involved with the Premier League these days. Player fees, those pesky agents and transfer fees are huge. All this will come mostly at the cost of the fan base. I have a friend who runs a popular Leicester City fan site. He once told me before they won the league that he preferred the Championship. Not because he feared or didn't want to see them struggle, but because being in the Championship is a stable environment for them. After they won the league, his site really picked up as did their fan base. He now says whilst it was a great thing to see them lift the Premier League title - the consequences of attracting false fans, huge fees and higher expectations has been a drain. There's no doubt it's a dream to win the Premier League, play in one of the best European cup competitions and have players who represent their countries. Yet, we have something very humble and special right now with what we have. Whilst not every Premier League player distances themselves from the fans or treats them badly, we are very lucky to have a squad of players who appreciate the fans and will interact with them. Jodi Jones, Macaualay Langstaff, etc are all good ambassadors of our current squad. We risk losing our family club, togetherness, by being incorporated with the demand of the elites.

I would believe his involvement in the signings and recruitment is quite high. It wouldn't surprise me if he's not the person handling much of the first contact with potential signings, I recall being told Jason Turner was very involved with this area. Richard Montague duties are a little unknown to me, he might be more active with this role.

He did well at AFC Wimbledon but other than that, I don't know much about him. 28-years-old should offer some experience, and he seems like the right height that we need. I had a previous interest in watching Wimbledon due to them rising the leagues and all the focus they had, so I do recall him being a strong player that did well for them. Ideally, he's composed and comfortable on the ball.

Spot on @liampie. I didn't see anything in Tobi during his first season; his injury may have impacted that, and I do agree that he looked better last season. Yet, he looks more like a winger than he does a wing back. He provides no contribution in defence. I do think he does have the ability to put in a good cross and has a nice turn of speed, yet his control, passing, position play are majorly lacking. Good luck to him at Rochdale, I hope he can kick on with his career.

I think most Notts fans won't know much about Steve Collis, it seems that Stuart Maynard wanted at the club and perhaps at the cost of Tom Weal. I have found a lot of comments since Weal's departure to be very disrespectful. However, I wish Collis well with his role and hope that we do see improvements within the keeping department.

Sometimes, there is very little difference between a head coach and a manager; it depends on how the club itself decides which areas of the day-to-day running of the club, from the players' perspective, he has responsibility for. In our case, I think the head coach role should see more input from whoever is in charge when it comes to recruitment. I don't know how much of a say Stuart Maynard has in regard to the coaching team or players coming in, but I would imagine he's less involved. Whilst a tracksuit manager may have been the earliest form of a head coach, albeit with more responsibilities off the field - I do think having someone who can implement there a structure, philosophy and general approach to playing has more benefits of bringing out the best of players. It's interesting to look at how each person approaches their duties, for example Big Sam is well known for allowing his players a level of freedom and doesn't fret about them socialising (including drinking). Whereas others are a lot more disciplined, Maynard does look very comfortable coaching and taking charge of those training sessions. I need to acknowledge he will still be learning, every coach does, but I think the area where managers have more strength is within their tactics and match decisions. Head coaches tend to stick with underperforming players without subbing them, along with being persistent in regard to their formation. Also, I do think it takes much of the burden of the head coach with him having a clear emphasis on managing the players he has within his squad.

I have seen friends on Facebook speak of it, including sharing pictures, but I don't know much about the event itself. I wished I had known ahead of time, I can imagine Notts wasn't the biggest focus despite being in Nottingham, but his career has been very interesting.

I don't think you can pull to parachute payments, whilst it might not be fair I think that more enthusiasm on balancing your own books accordingly needs to be addressed before anyone considers removing what is a lifeline for most struggling clubs. The system is unfair to an extent but so is football in general, at least in terms of clubs being forced into being competitive. The Premier League is extremely lucrative and there have been talks of reducing the money paid which falls down the leagues. In an ideal world, the Premier League would understand that their profits and income can generate a more exciting system. However, they're only interested in keeping the money for themselves. It was a huge mistake by Derek Pavis voting in favour of the Premier League to form and branch away from the English Football League (as did all who voted in favour - off the top of my head, I think there were only two who objected). As for me, the PL and EFL should have worked closely but the blueprint for the PL was always aimed around greed. We have seen the same with the talk of the European Super League. It's taken the EFL some time to adapt, and the rebranding so far has helped to generate more income, but there's going to be further issues if you remove the parachute payments. We ourselves would have been stuffed without the money from our relegation from League Two and made life dangerous within the National League. Yet, I do see how it is unfair but at the same time it really is a lifeline for teams.

That's just crazy, but I do recall a similar thing happening in the UK. I hope the judge throws a stricter punishment.

I grew up staying in and around Winthorpe, I loved the Dunnes Pub until it burned down and the Smiths arcade. The walks along the seafront are some of my favourite memories come wind, sunshine or rain. Skegness is fine, there's plenty to do and things are improving. My early memories are of a run downed area needing financial reinvestments and to be fair that's happened. The beach has always been wonderful, even now with the ugly grass (it's part of the sea defence). Biggest issue is the types of people it can attract, they might not always be the most thoughtful or smartest. Those who act like thugs, play loud music aren't in the spirit of what there is. Single people and couples, they might be best elsewhere but for families it's a great place to escape to.

@Piethagoram I think some fans over did it, but I have witnessed with my own eyes how respectful Luke Williams were to our players, yes, he went off (to which I felt was a mistake) for conceding goals at home - yet he always made sure that he left on good terms with everyone. I have heard from staff how he remembered their names, including folk like @Dan. Will Randall is a flawed signing, but I can see the thought behind it. Randall sort of isolates himself from the squad, I don't know why but even when I have spoken to him - I haven't found him friendly or bothered. He lacks self motivation, I'm sure Williams tried with him but for whatever reason he isn't responsive. Not even to Stuart Maynard, who gave him cameo appearances and he never took that opportunity. Most fault falls on him as a player, I feel. Defensively, when we went up the board and Williams should've strengthened the defence more, along with being more mindful of the two-year deals, I agree on those points.
