  1. It's a very good film. I can't really stand Benefict Cumberbatch, but he did a fantastic job in it. Until the release, I didn't know anything about this and due to it - I learned that we had some incredible people trying to do what seemed to be the impossible by breaking the German's communication. I think it's a stroke of genius, too, how they worked out which vessels to target without attacking them all. By not giving it away that their code was indeed broken, it allowed us to become more strategic. It also saved many lives! Also, how we took hold of Iceland in order to stop the Germans from having one of the best advantage points to deal with the US ad ourselves was a master-stroke. I watched a video on YouTube that explained the importance of this and how basically, we just turned up one day and took over. Well, we set up bases without asking or being bothered about what Iceland would say, but it did help.
  2. I might relocate it to be a sub forum for 'Entertainment & News'. I didn't want it to be too far down, so that people could easily spot it - especially those unused to the way things are here. PS. You should join in next season @Piethagoram
  3. The Reedtz have spoken about how important promotion back to the English Football League was; there's no doubt that they have been creating a steady ship. The amount reported isn't that bad for a club of our size, but it would have become worse in time had we not gained promotion last season. It could have easily led to us being forced to sell players as a means to recoup the losses. In regard to the financial side, there are not a lot of clubs can do in terms of being self-sufficient. It could also increase if we gain promotion to League One. The main thing to take away is being incredibly thankful for our owners, because it's them that is trying to make the biggest difference.
  4. Jodi Jones is a quality player, no doubt about it. One thing I want to see more from him is his commitment to win the ball back quickly. When he used to come on from the bench, he looked like something really wanting to get stuck in and there has been times this season where defensively it seems to be a second though. I know he's capable of being someone who can do really well in all areas of the pitch and I say this not to be critical, it's just an observation I have made. He's a lot more committed to defending than Aaron Nemane, but the thing about Nemane is he looks awkward defending a lot of the time. Jodi is more refined and capable of pressing enough to nick the ball back. Watching him play has been a real joy and his efforts to always be at his best is appreciated, if I were the head coach I would be trying to encourage his defending. Look how he plays for Malta, it's all he seems to think about is winning the ball back. I know that's due to them being the underdogs in the majority of their games, but he's very good in all the departments on the pitch with the right focus.
  5. Recently, the nights have been feeling colder, especially during Christmas when the cold seemed to seep in at times. The weather keeps being reported as 'expected to bad' but it's just cold. We have the tendency of over reacting to it; other countries just get on with it - including snow. I am concerned for people due to the high price in energy and the cost of living, I don't like the thought of people being cold and struggling to stay warm. This sort of thing should be classed as a basic human right.
  6. I didn't click the link, but when I saw this I did wonder if it was about all the supposed repairs that are required. That news sort of faded fast, but I don't see why people need to make life so complicated. The reason I didn't read it is I am fed up with the BREXIT stuff. I personally would prefer taking the ferry over the Eurotunnel.
  7. Most likely, but if an appointment is made before Friday - we can't rule out that the new head coach won't want to take full charge. Personally, I would prefer to take control the moment it became official, and I wouldn't worry so much about training, I would just make sure my instructions were clear enough. Though I am not a coach or manager. I think you are right though, the head coach may be appointed before or on the day, then allowed to watch the squad.
  8. Hello, @Harry Buckley. I am pleased to see you have joined us; in fact I am over the moon! I can't wait for you to come back to Meadow Lane. I am determined to make sure your first club is Notts. This is a fantastic surprise for myself and @super_ram.
  9. @NottsCountyKev Yes, I am no pro, but I am quite good. The majority of graphics on PON have been created by me, except the logo, which I out sourced. A friend called Craig designed the Magpies, but if you need help just ask, and I will try to help.
  10. I don't mind it, though the cold does through things off for me. Provided everyone keeps warm and has food for several days, we'll coast any cold weather. They keep saying it's going to be bad but nothing. I think they wanted the weekend off, it's way too early to postpone.
  11. It's easy for any fan to sit back and laugh, seeing a club penalised for failing to meet the Financial Fair Play Rules. Outside the top 6, how do you match your ambition to improve your club? There's obviously a right way in doing things and that can take time, time which fans and owners don't usually understand. Everything these days has to be instant, and it doesn't work out like that. I feel sorry for their genuine fans, rather than those who have cropped up since their return to the Premier League. Even some of Kate's family, who rarely attended in the past, seem to be going more. I get this, but I do think their type of support encourages owners to be foolish. I am thankful that the Reedtz brothers are different to this: we are getting larger attendances but are spending the money in the right areas. I just wished for those true Forest fans I know, that they started to focus on the players they develop rather than signing in some highly priced player who has little connection to the club. Whilst I do have sympathy for those true fans, I do believe the decision is to be fair, and I also have to say that Forest fans who engaged with referencing Everton and gloating in the process - it just makes you look bad. Good luck to them, it's going to be harder to stay up, and I think this is the true reason why Steve Cooper was sacked. They knew this would happen and feared relegation, acted fast and brought in someone they hoped could overcome the points that would be taken.
  12. Stockport County are very blessed in midfield and in their attack, Paddy Madden was a player I once wanted Notts to sign back when he played in the Irish league. We all know that Kyle Wootton is a threat. Those are obvious danger men for them. Connor Evans, Cody Johnson and Isaac Olaofe are all players I would be aware of. I am looking forward to seeing Scott Robertson. It will be interesting to see if we maintain the tactics of Luke Williams, or if by this point the new head coach will be appointed and therefore choose his own setup. I do have the feeling that Jim will remain temporary in charge even if we do make an appointment before this game. I would like to say that the Notts players will be fighting for their place in the team and this ideally would get the most out of the players. I do want to see more of Aaron Nemane because he's unstoppable when he gets going. Defensively and in terms of goal are concerns, but I would stick with the same line-up as Grimsby.
  13. Pegguy Arphexad is a former loanee for both us and Stockport County.
  14. They both sound like great additions to the team, hopefully it enables the women's Notts team to keep up with their forward momentum.
  15. I have a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G (as there is a 4G model), It's running Android 13. I've had it since it's release, I think two years? I don't remember. I'm on Voxi which is owed by Vodaphone. Vodaphone is by far the best network I have been on. I used to be on GiffGaff, but the speeds were poor and O2's coverage wasn't the best. I don't plan on upgrading any time soon.
  16. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Michelle Evans. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  17. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Thomas Cotton. I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  18. In the 90s I remember watching cup games and old First Division matches where the pitch wasn't the best. @super_ram would tell me it's nothing compared to matches he had seen. I have seen clips of bad condiitons but I don't recall watching footage of a football match where it's literally all puddles of water and grass. Thank god things have improved since then.
  19. Thanks for agreeing to join the cause here on PON, I hope you enjoy being part of the Pride of Nottingham community and site. It's great to be welcoming you! @True Magpie.
  20. The ladies team wasn't financially stable at all, whilst I didn't personally mind that we basically pinched a lot of Lincoln talent. We did sign some of the best women players such as Ellen White. Our new women's team are making us proud with their promotion last season and much of the squad being home-grown. It's far easier to get behind this, but the issue is others are more attracted to known players and the league isn't appealing to most casual fans. We are coming together, so hopefully in a few years time we can be within touches of the WSL's second-highest division. On the notes of Alan Hardy, the ladies had to fold, and perhaps greater warning could have been given. Carly Telford taking it out on the men's squad and wishing that we were relegated, amongst other comments when we did fall out of the Football League very much disappointed me. There's no class in that; we supported them and gave them a fantastic opportunity. Alan Hardy should have taken the fault not the club itself.
  21. There were some comments about Jim having selected his friends, although I personally think he went with what he believed were the strongest squad. On paper, playing actual centre backs should be the best outcome. I don't think he made a mistake giving Connell Rawlinson a start. We have to be mindful that he went with a squad that he felt would get a result and Grimsby were never going to push overs at their ground. 5-5 shows how much both teams need to improve. Jim spoke very well in his interviews, and I am pleased we have someone with his level-headed approach to selecting what he feels is the best. It could quite easily be someone very much out of their depth.
  22. Player of the season so far: Dan Crowley Best performance: Morecambe (H) Best team we've played: I can't comment on Mansfield, but I thought Wrexham did well against us. Worst team we've played: Bradford City quite easily, although they did better in the second half. Best away day: Doncaster was very enjoyable. Who'd you appoint as head coach: I'll leave it to the board and Reedtz brothers.
  23. They're annoying. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers, but even then numbers can be spoofed. It's good to know you didn't get scammed @Fan of Big Tone, I think it sounded way too good to be true, but it's that hope which distracts you.
  24. High scoring teams can commonly be disappointing at the other end, but solid teams make sure that they are comfortable at the back. A good manager can take over a team that is leaking goals, transform them or at least allow them to show their actual potential. Steve Cotterill in 2009 for us is a prime example, I think defensively we were quite good but could have been better. We were able to score, but sometimes we weren't as focused overall as we could have been. We have a fantastic squad now and are blessed with attacking options, but even our defenders are more attacking minded. The stats are very good to see because it shows the work the players are putting in, but our next manager needs to tighten things up and keep the ship more balanced so that we can score without fearing of conceding or conceding then needing to pull level.
  25. One vs 100 and the Colour of Money. Tenable is alright, but I think the standard these days isn't quite high. Warwick Davis elevates a mediocre idea to a whole new level. I would say my favourite quiz show of all-time would be something I rushed home from school to watch at dinner time. Bob Monkhouse and Wipeout.
