  1. Fingers crossed, I'll be able to get over to see and help @super_ram with his gardening later today. I'll report back if I do; a bit of tree trimming and general tidying up might be nice. There was a good breeze yesterday, despite the heat.
  2. I wish Colby Bishop all the best. It's not good news and I have been pleased seeing how he's done at Portsmouth. I'm glad they have caught it, before it might have been a problem and I hope it doesn't impact his career.
  3. I haven't had chance to really watch any of it, I used to, as I liked seeing our team get medals. Now I can track this topic! In all seriousness, I would like to watch some of the events. I'll need to watch out for the GB Hockey team.
  4. I don't want to tempt fate, but we could give it to our highest earner and in that I mean, David McGoldrick. He already looks likely to be the vice captain (to my knowledge this hasn't been confirmed by Notts yet). I would rather Alassana Jatta or Cedwyn Scott get it, but Jatta has done remarkably well. The numbers on shirts being given relevant importance, is a trick teams did to sell shirts, and it really doesn't mean much. That said, I have said in the past that it would be nice to return the traditional way of numbers being given to important players, as the numbers 1-11 did actually mean something.
  5. It doesn't make any sense, no sense at all. I mean stranger things have happened in football, but I don't buy it. To sign a player, register them after having completed a transfer isn't a simple job. Their fees involved with having the contracts overlooked, an agent just doesn't do it. It would be weird to see Leeds United pay them more than what we got. Honestly, I think the rumour will end up being debunked. The Millwall manager sounded very intent on signing Macaulay Langstaff, and the deal seems relevant for them as there's not many prolific strikers I think they could actually afford. We are in that same boat, so I would be more inclined to call bull on it.
  6. Champions: Arsenal Runners-Up: Manchester City Third Place: Liverpool Fourth Place: Spurs Fifth Place: Chelsea Sixth Place: Aston Villa FA Cup winner: Manchester United League Cup: Crystal Palace
  7. I thought that it would take them awhile to establish a connection with the club, and whilst I thought their ideas sounded exciting. I wasn't expecting it to be as positive as we have seen. It pains me when I see so-called supporters claiming they have no intent or ambition. It comes across as very mardy and deluded, either that or they are extremely ungrateful. I'm not sure any other owners could have come in and changed things around, recruited players for money and used a modern approach to finding players which has largely been successful. Investing money shouldn't always be spent on the pitch with the players, if we have learned anything it has to be spent in the right manner. If you spend on players, you risk other areas falling behind such as the stadium. If you spend it solely on the stadium, then you risk having a weaker squad and being forced to sell players to overcome it. I thought Alan Hardy did well in his first season. I appreciated his efforts until he totally lost the plot. The Trew era had some fantastic elements, I know certain people won't give credit, but I always have done. Despite noses being placed out of joint at any opportunity to be upset about trivial matters. At least, we are not being run like a circus. I like how the Brothers have largely kept behind the scenes; it allows the club to be more efficiently run. I think we should be thankful, as the club does seem to be moving forward. We just need to trust the process and try to keep our support, without the meltdowns over nonsense.
  8. Let the scout go back to Tranmere happy, because until we play neither team will truly know what to expect. I have only seen the score, but it seems like we played David McGoldrick as a striker. I'm hoping this won't be the answer for the season, as he might have scored today, but we need energy up top. I've read a lot of gloomy comments, I don't see much validation in them. We could have properly afforded to go into the game with a more established side, one that would look like our first team. It's a bit disappointing we didn't because I do believe form going into the last run of friendlies before the new season is underway is important. I dread to watch the highlights, judging by @Piethagoram's comment about Sam Slocombe.
  9. The Nest is designed to not cost the club when it's not in use. It's normal for event areas to be closed and opened on the day of the event, so I doubt money will be getting lost there. As for the Paddle Centre, it's always busy when I have been past. It has attracted large numbers of players to come take the facilities up, and I had heard it was very profitable. I know some fans questioned the decision about allowing season ticket holders access for free, but that didn't really drum up a lot of use cases by our fans. Notts aiming for promotion is enough to make me happy, if we keep digging a way and work hard, it will happen. I'm just glad the club are investing in things because as a business model it will attract curiosity and potential new fans.
  10. I like the look of Boston's new stadium, I have been meaning to go when we have played them but it's just not worked out. It should be a good friendly, as the pitch tends to be decent and Boston shouldn't throw to much into the friendly. I think both teams will get a good amount of time on the ball, so it would be good to see us defensively cope with their attacking play.
  11. This is largely how I feel, we have to move on, and I don't really care much about the fee now. I'm more determined to see us continue our journey and grow further as a club, whatever the deal is. It's now set in stone, nothing can change it, and we need to make sure we use whatever funds it did give us wisely.
  12. We can only hope he can manage to stay fit and showcase the best of his ability. That said, I have seen a lot of criticism about his pre-season performances and how disinterested some of our fans are with the signing. I am more inclined to reserve judgement, as you get those who are doubtful or extremely negative - then people who leap overpraise. I do think on paper, he looks more like a cover and squad member signing. Yet, I haven't see him play and he may settle with us. Notts has worked well with players in recent years who have had injury issues.
  13. He looks like a signing that should grow in his role and improve further with the time given, it's not one of those signings which would create a natural buzz, but I see no reason why he would be a good addition to our team. Good to have the midfield strengthened with the arrival of Jack Hinchy.
  14. @JIMBO Elon Musk and his 'better social media network' issue, the video is back. It was probably a temporary issue on their part. That mistake was awful, how disappointing would the fans be to see a player fall right in front of goal.
  15. Great achievement, it does show that last season wasn't all that bad. We just struggled at points when other teams were finding their own form and the more Notts struggled, the less creative we seemed. Yet this shows that we were still very attacking minded!
  16. Just to clarify, when I saw @super_ram last. I told him off about the defeat, and how his beloved Derby County had let us Notts fans down. Disgraceful performance by the Rams, but I do like @liampie's logic. ????
  17. I don't get why we can't make more of the industries we have that are dying, why more thought can't go into thriving them. There's a YouTube channel that pays visits to companies that are in danger of dying off, it promotes the 'Made in Britain' aspect, and it's something we should really try to make sure continues. The easiest decision is to stop, but is it the right call? Once you stop, it's harder to return to doing it when those skilled workers are few and far between. This is a sad thing.
  18. It's a sad thing to see a club fall, but it's their time to get things right. There's no reason why they couldn't become stronger for this and given their fans the oppatunity to make a difference would harbour a togetherness.
  19. I do think it's highly likely that Junior Morias wants to play regular football, from his pre-season appearances he might feel that his chances are slim and if there's talk within the club that a new striker is going to be signed - I imagine this would further create the ambition to be playing more frequently. I have always felt he looked a good player, when given a chance he has impressed me. His speed was very quick, which made teams struggle, but we never made the most of his ability. I find it strange how he spent a portion allegedly out injured, when he's had very little injuries and had played a lot for Dagenham & Redbridge upon signing for us. I think the club panicked a little, signed him in hope of having cover going into the playoffs and found that there wasn't the need for him. Certainly with the amount of subs named in the National League it would have been difficult. Yet more opportunity should have come in League Two, I am very disappointed by Notts, but I am glad Morias will finally get his chance to play more regularly. If there's a recall option in his deal, Notts would be best to allow him to remain - bringing back would just be wasteful for his career.
  20. I don't think anyone should write him off; pre-season will be more about him getting to speed with his new teammates. Certainly, 20 minutes isn't enough for a striker to make an impact in a difficult game against a much larger side. Once Langstaff scores, he'll get that knack for finding the net more often. He might not score twenty goals, but I firmly believe he can score a decent amount. It's down to Millwall to be creative enough to get the best out of him.
  21. I told Jack's father when he got his first international cap, that we were proud of him. Callum McGregor also deserves a lot of praise for how he's forged a career. He was heavily linked to Sunderland before they fell down the leagues and wasn't playing for Celtic. I always felt he would have benefitted more from a move to a good English club (not Sunderland). However, he's proven that his ambition and desire to be an important player for the club he supports and loves has paid off. It's been nice seeing their careers; both had incredible talent when they came here on loan.
  22. I'm sick of hearing about why the players feel they didn't do well, or why they are tired. I do believe clubs need to make sure they only play fit players, instead of playing someone who is in need of rest. Issue, most players will still want to play. Some just want to play and if tiredness impacts their performance then excuses are thrown out. There are times I feel we over play Aaron Nemane, his peformances massively dip when he looks knackered and considering how much running he can do in a game. It's only natural, it's just a case of he's very rarely rested - it took his form to dip last season for him to be given the time. I don't think ability shines as much when you are needing a rest, so the fault falls in various ways.
  23. The photographs appear stunning. a time trip back to when life wasn't such a busy headache. It's a shame that this type of class wasn't upheld, as I am sure it could have been a lot more popular than Paris in modern times. I have seen documentaries on YouTube about how rough Buenos Aires is now. Certain parts are very sketchy. And a place to steer clear of.
  24. I hope that Stuart Maynard grows in the role as our head coach and manages to maintain his position for a few seasons, it would give us stability and make sure we are heading in the right direction, but football is a points based business, you have to win games and meet the standards outlined by the club. Personally, I am very thankful for Luke Williams. He's a good coach and I wish him success. If he finds himself without a club and Notts are seeking a new head coach - I wouldn't be against him returning. I would prefer we moved on, no disrespect to Williams. I enjoyed hearing him speak about the players and things in general, but I am more hopeful we can identify people who bring something different. I wasn't very keen on the reaction he gave to the players after we conceded two goals, I think against Forest Green. For me, this was the point where our season started to turn negative and further blows by losing Matt Palmer didn't help, but defensively we weren't as bad as we became after the 'talk' that took place after the final whistle. It's harsh to blame him outright for the defensive issues we have, but it's fair to say he never seemed to have the answer. He got the best out of our players, but lost it after that point from the defence point of view. I would rather see the club look to bring in someone who wouldn't be likely to repeat defensive issues. Good defenders are essential due to the tactical setup implemented by Williams. I just don't think it would make sense to re-hire someone who wasn't able to tighten up the goals we leaked. Perhaps he could see how things were changing, but I do feel we lost confidence from a talk which wasn't needed.
  25. Good to see a youngster, such as Cater Foxe get their first professional deal. I hope it gives him something to strive towards and maintain a passion for the game. It's very easy for some young players to fall out of love with football. You have to use these things to push yourself further.
