I think it’s obvious that with the team returning to the EFL and taking part in League Two, it would take time for things to click. Luke Williams also hasn’t managed at this level, which some fans may go on about being excuses, but they are truths. When you start a new job, virtually everyone needs a few weeks to a month to get up to speed with things. Notts are no different with football, we are progressing nicely, a win on Saturday would put the club one step closer to being somewhere most fans should be happy with. I will accept mistakes and try not to be too critical of the players.

I had Tranmere Rovers as being the game I felt the most nervous about in the early round of games, with them expected to be up there at the end of the season. I thought Grimsby Town would have been a bit easier, as they are still somewhat hit and miss. Whereas Tranmere has a lot of quality, quality that we can’t ignore but it’s reserved since the season has started. I don’t want this to come across as if I think the game will be easy, it won’t, but I feel we are at the level in our game where if we work hard enough and create those chances, goals will come for us. The nervous feeling I had looking at the fixtures at the start of the season has gone, replaced with optimism.

Sean McConville's injury is indeed a significant blow for Accrington Stanley. The man was in good form, and his experience on the pitch will be missed over these three months.

I don't believe I've ever witnessed the KOP being so upbeat and vociferous in my lifetime. We will be just fine. It’s good to see what happens when Macaulay Langstaff doesn’t play. Plus, with Junior Morias returning, we have cover. I think we will be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season.

It’s normal to have some questions and doubts going into the season. These are just normal pre-season jitters. As for the friendlies, they’re a run out and competitively different from matches where points matter.

We finally have players who are relatable and think about each other. I like David McGoldrick's presence on the pitch because he's a calm head. That influence and experience isn't something you can teach, but his strike is another thing that is natural.

Good timing, this with us having played Alfreton yesterday. I don't mind Derby, they are much friendlier than other clubs and I think we do have a connection within our history with each other. This is a very good read.

It feels unreal to see Notts in this position. I never thought the club would be using pre-season to build players and have this sort of recruitment. I didn't think we would have all these coaches and a squad pulling together. To be in a position where we have just returned to the Football League and with further hard work, Notts could be in with the chance of another promotion. It just feels very special. I hate hearing about news like this. Just because it’s been adjourned, it doesn’t mean they have survived because they still have to go back. It’s just horrible for the fans of a football club in this situation.

Considering Sutton's performance towards the end of last season, there's a good chance for Notts to secure an immediate victory. The second game against Grimsby Town will be a thriller.
