We varied it nicely. Bennetts and Tsaroulla gave us width early on, and the set-piece threat paid off, Jatta pounced, Hall finished smartly. Cheltenham had their spell after the break, but we stayed solid. Roos made a vital save, we handled the bookings, used the bench well, and saw it out with composure.

18 minutes ago, nightOWL said: Aye, I’ve seen it all in me time. Clubs brought to their knees by folk who shouldn’t be let near a ledger. Money frittered away on daft things, while the basics get ignored. It’s no good having fancy ideas if you’ve not sorted the roof and the pitch first. That’s how clubs end up gasping for breath, near enough dead. Notts has always looked like it ought to be doing better. Big name, proud colours, but never quite showing what it’s made of. I don’t know much about your old owners, but I do remember reading about trouble with the tax man more than once. That sort of thing sticks in the mind. It’s a warning sign, that is.
We all want to see our team go up, don’t we? But it’s no good chasing glory if it means losing your soul. You’ve got to build steady. A club’s not just about the league table, it’s about the folk who stand by it, rain or shine. Your ground’s a proper one. Got character. Looks like it belongs in the Championship, easy. Putting money into things off the pitch, training, youth, the community, that’s what lasts. That’s what keeps a club strong when the goals dry up.
Fans make the club. Without ‘em, it’s just bricks and turf. And if the fans don’t care, it’s no better than watching telly and shouting at the screen. You need folk who turn up, who sing, who moan, who love it deep down. That’s what keeps it alive.
Seems to me your owners now have their heads screwed on. Making smart choices, not chasing daft dreams. That’s how you get the right players in, not just names, but lads who want to fight for the badge. You’re building something now, and that’s worth more than a lucky season.
All the best to you, Pie fans. Keep the faith.
I like how they run the club with patience. It feels stable compared to the chaos we had before. Sometimes it feels too clinical, but we are in a much better place than we were a few years back.

Can’t lie, I was worried when Dizzy and Bass left, but this article helps explain the reasoning behind it. The honesty around Bass’s sale, in particular, is appreciated, they didn’t want to sell, but the timing and offer were right. Kelle Roos looks a good replacement on paper. As for McGoldrick, you just can’t replace that level in League Two, so fair play to them for spreading the load across a few new signings and giving Jodi a more advanced role. Hope it pays off.

Luke Williams was praised for giving a good insight into football. People liked hearing his views on Notts and how he explained things clearly.
Martin Paterson seems very focused. He looks like someone who wants to use his experience as a player to help the team do well. He talks a lot about results and performances, which shows he means business.
There are plenty of positives to take, but I really hope we can start the season well.
-
Impressed with this one, no nonsense. He’s already got experience in League Two so he shouldn’t be shocked by the physical side. Scored a few for Accrington as well which means he could chip in from set pieces, that’s always handy. You can’t teach height and bravery and it sounds like he’s got both. Let’s see how he does, but on paper this is very tidy business.
-
Loving the sound of this Technical Board setup. It’s modern, data-driven and built for consistency. Football’s changed, and if we want to be sustainable and competitive, this is the kind of innovation we need. Gives the manager proper support and accountability without interference. If it works, other clubs will be looking to copy what we’ve built here.
-
I think this is a clever move by the club. He’s clearly not afraid of the big stage, having played City and then gone on to feature in the Championship. You don’t get those chances unless you’re doing something right. What impresses me most is how he’s adapted to different roles, switching from a winger to a midfielder. That kind of flexibility is massive in a long season. He’ll give us options, and with his frame, I expect he’ll win more than his share of duels.
-
What a signing Platt has been. He’s brought a level of organisation and aerial dominance that we’ve lacked in previous seasons. You can tell he takes pride in his defensive work, and that’s exactly what we need. It’s interesting to hear him talk about winning the second ball too, that’s something we’ve really improved on this season. The whole team seems more switched on defensively, and the clean sheet record speaks for itself.
Port Vale away is going to be a tough one, but I’d back us to go there and get a result. If we come away with three points, it really puts the pressure on the teams around us. This squad feels like it has a real chance of doing something special this season.
-
So happy for Tsaroulla! He’s been quality all season, and it was only a matter of time before he got his goal. The way he speaks about the team and the fans shows his mindset, he’s all about pushing forward, improving, and staying focused. You can see why he’s such a popular player already. It’s great to hear him talking about the defence as well because we’ve come a long way from last season. Maynard has got them working as a unit, and you can tell the players trust each other. Winning tough away games like this shows we’ve got that extra bit of resilience now.
-
This is one of those games where the details matter. Colchester is disciplined at the back, but our squad has the ability to rise to the challenge. Injuries have forced tough decisions, and I like that Maynard isn’t rushing players like Crowley back. It’s good to hear Platt and Abbott might feature, as we’ll need all hands on deck. Maynard’s emphasis on team spirit is key, getting the fans involved and keeping morale high makes a big difference. I’m hopeful the lads can bounce back after Walsall and put on a performance at Meadow Lane.
-
I love the detail Maynard gave in this interview. It’s clear he respects The Posh’s abilities but also believes in our progress since the summer. Knowing that the team is practising penalties and focusing on preparation shows we’re taking this seriously. The injury updates are a mixed bag, great to hear about Jodi Jones’ recovery, but it’s clear we’ll have to wait a bit longer for Crowley. Regardless, the focus has to be on playing to our strengths. I’m excited about this match, let’s hope we get a result.
-
-
It was definitely a gritty performance, but we managed to grab a point in tough conditions. Maynard’s decision to stay calm at half-time and make tactical adjustments paid off; you could see the shift in our play after Brown came on. Barrow were very organised and difficult to break down, so credit to the lads for their patience. McGoldrick’s penalty was just what we needed, especially given the pressure and antics from their keeper. The team showed great mental strength to stay composed in the later stages. Hopefully, we can work on our starts, going behind early puts a lot of pressure on us. Overall, it’s a decent result, and I’m sure we’ll build from here.
-
That was a proper hard-fought win! The kind of match where you’re just hoping we don’t concede because it felt like one goal would be enough to win it. And it was! What I liked the most was the team’s work rate, everyone from front to back was putting in a shift. It’s not always about playing free-flowing football, sometimes you’ve just got to grind out the result. And we did exactly that today. We didn’t create loads of chances, but the one we got, we took, and defensively we were really switched on. Another clean sheet, and another step closer to where we want to be.
-
I’m happy to hear that we’re close to having a fully fit squad again, that’s been one of the main issues. Maynard’s comments about being clinical are exactly what we’ve all been thinking. We’ve created so many good chances recently but haven’t put them away. And yes, the refereeing has been poor, but it’s good to see he’s not making excuses. The focus is on us, and that’s the right approach. Hopefully, with a bit more sharpness in front of goal, we’ll get the win today. Let’s not forget Wimbledon are tough defensively, so we’ll need to be at our best.

I don’t know how Port Vale fans can be happy with their performance, even with the 1-0 win. They were poor and missed an open goal. That summed them up as a team, but they defended better. Then again, they parked the bus at every opportunity and tried to put every player behind the ball. Notts needed to be a lot more clinical on goal.

Kellan Gordon’s journey to Notts is the kind of story that makes football special. From the highs at Crawley Town to returning to his roots, it’s a path many players don’t get to take. For us at Notts, it’s great to see his joy at being home.
It’s like the club and city give him new energy. This personal happiness can lead to good performances, both on and off the pitch. It’s always a bonus when a player is as invested in the community as in the game. His aim to help despite challenges shows his strong character. Good on him and the team!
-
I was gutted to see Jodi go down like that. His energy on the field is unmatched, and he’s been an incredible asset this season. The challenge was tough to watch, and it was obvious he was in pain, but seeing him try to carry on sums up his character. We need stronger officiating to protect our attacking players from such reckless challenges. Jodi’s attitude towards his recovery is commendable, and I have no doubt he’ll return stronger. His words to the fans are truly motivating. We’ll be here, cheering for his comeback and supporting the team throughout this difficult period. Stay strong, Jodi!

It was a game of missed opportunities and frustrations. Notts had the lion's share of possession but struggled to break down a resolute Morecambe defence. McGoldrick was starved of support upfront, and our lack of rhythm in the first half cost us. The second half saw some improvement, especially with the introductions off the bench, but it was too little too late. Platt's equaliser was well-deserved, but we could have easily grabbed a winner with better finishing. The foul count was troubling, as it disrupted any momentum we managed to build. All in all, a decent point, but definitely room for improvement.
-
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the boys measure up against Gillingham. The unbeaten run has been impressive, but this will be one of the stiffest challenges yet. Notts have shown incredible strength at home, particularly with the attacking performances. The injury list is a bit of a worry, especially with Curtis Edwards, Cedwyn Scott and Scott Robertson. But Stuart Maynard has instilled a fantastic team spirit, and I believe the lads will rise to the occasion. Gillingham’s defence might be tough, but with our attacking prowess, we can break them down and grab the three points.
-
I think Stuart Maynard is showing a good understanding of the squad. He can’t be faulted, and it wasn’t due to him that we went 2-0 down. It was partly because of him and Jodi Jones that we came back, as his changes gave Notts more to fight for. The swing of the game became more encouraging as you watched on. The football at times was stunning, and we could have had more than 4 goals, just like Bromley could have had 3.
-
I think when everyone in the team is playing well, we are unstoppable. Having key players who are clearly above this level is always encouraging, as it allows their quality to shine. Even David McGoldrick, at his age, is still showing both his class and experience. He’s just as important as anyone. It’s the squad that wins, draws, or loses, but it is special to have the talent of Dan Crowley and Jodi Jones among this squad.
Why Harrogate Town Might Have Taught Us the Key Lesson of the Season
in Features
I think at times Notts puts extra pressure on themselves, which makes it harder to break down a side that is well organised. Harrogate looked stronger going forward than they did at the back, but they committed plenty of players to both.
We had our own way of playing and kept trying to send crosses in from the left.
A little more creativity would have helped, but I give credit to Martin Paterson for making attacking changes and not settling for a draw.
