I would have preferred Woking myself, we know Neal Ardley quite well and whilst his teams are usually decently structured. They do not tend to be all that focused on attacking against good teams, more defensive.

If you watch the extended highlights, you can see how well Matt Palmer moved the ball and kept calm under pressure. He didn’t let Tranmere rattle him, and that’s why I think he deserved Man of the Match. During the game, I thought Matt handled himself really well. He stayed focused and kept things ticking over in midfield.

There were two rough tackles on him, and one of them looked quite nasty. I was worried he might be hurt, but thankfully he got straight back up and carried on playing.

It’s really sad to hear that Steve Thompson has passed away after battling cancer. He was a kind and thoughtful man, and his love for football always came through in the way he spoke.

Anyone who got the chance to chat with him will know how much he cared about Notts County and Lincoln City. He had a great sense of humour and shared his stories with real warmth. He had a sharp football brain and always made his views interesting to listen to. You could tell he’d seen a lot and enjoyed every moment of it.

Rest in peace, Thommo. You’ll be missed by many.

I don’t mean this in a harsh way, because I’m sure Kelle Roos is a decent bloke who gives it his all. But I can’t help feeling nervous when he’s in goal. Sometimes it looks like he’s not fully focused on the ball, and his reactions are slow and heavy.

His choices between punching or catching the ball seem all over the place. There’s no clear pattern, and it makes me uneasy. It feels like he’s not sure what to do, especially when the pressure’s on.

One moment that sticks with me is when he punched the ball straight to a Tranmere player. Thankfully, the lad couldn’t keep his shot down and sent it over the bar. But it was a real let-off, and it made me wonder if Roos had lost his composure.

Then there was that strange moment with the Tranmere keeper. I don’t know what he was thinking, but it had my heart racing. It’s not the sort of thing you expect from someone who’s meant to be calm and experienced.

I’m not trying to slate him, because he does pull off some decent saves. But overall, I don’t feel reassured when he’s between the sticks. If a keeper with experience can’t get his positioning right, it’s hard to see how it’s going to improve.

Honestly, I’m not sure he’s any better than Aidan Stone. At least with Stone, you knew what you’re getting. With Roos, it’s a bit of a gamble every time.

Uploading your mind into a robot isn’t staying human. You lose what makes you real. As for living forever, like Freddy once said, there's no chance for us.

It’s better to live the best life you can, then die and hope rebirth is real.

Give him time to settle into the role. He has played as an attacking midfielder before for Coventry. He filled in up front for them during an injury spell, including when they beat us in the play-offs.

Letting him play with more freedom and giving him a more creative role should help him show more of what he can do. Playing on the wing often limits his chances to score. This change could help with that.

I enjoy reading what other members say about Notts and in the other threads too. It helps me feel more involved and part of the community. It’ll be interesting to see if the status feature on the site catches on. I’ll make sure I have a look when I next pop by.

I hope Martin Paterson isn’t just saying things to please the impatient or unrealistic fans, it might backfire and give them something to hold against him. I’m sure he wants us to compete, and of course winning is great, no one plays to lose. But you’ve got to stay grounded. I believe Notts gave it a proper go, but the quality at this level is a bit too strong right now.

Still, I’m confident that once our fitness picks up and we’re facing teams closer to our level, we’ll be alright. All this talk on the club’s socials about not having good players is really frustrating, it doesn’t reflect reality at all.

Martin Paterson seemed very open, which I liked. He didn’t make excuses and gave clear answers to every question. It’s still early days, but I think we should all support the club and hope he can lead the squad in the right way.

It’s great to see he’s found a new path after his time in football. A fresh start can make all the difference. There’ll be more chances for him in the future, but work doesn’t always pay well, especially when it’s something different.

These kinds of appointments need to be effective for the club to see improvements. Since it's a new role, it's hard to feel too excited about it, but it does seem beneficial.

Will it work at Notts? If it helps us climb the leagues, then I certainly hope so.

Aiden Stone looked promising when he arrived, but there were warnings about his ability from Port Vale and Mansfield fans.

That said, I thought he was pretty promising and decent with his hands. The ball at his feet being a plus, because he could actually pass it around unlike Sam Slocombe who struggles with this. I think Stone being pushed out of the team and being given a chance to redeem himself is a shame.
 

It would be disappointing to come away with nothing, especially with their form, but every game is different. Morecambe are suffering right now, and Notts could make a game of it if they play to a certain level. Defensively, we should be fine against them, I feel. It’s making sure we stay switched on in key moments, but our attacking players should be all over them. Have we had any news on Jodi Jones yet?

It might seem controversial, but I don’t think Luke Williams would have chosen many of the young players to start or feature as long as they did. Two or three at the most. Stuart Maynard deserves a lot of the credit for having faith in the youngsters and for the win. It was brilliant to see them doing so well.

I thought Sam Austin was very good throughout the game. His experience, I believe, helped the youngsters. He took his goal well.

I think Austin becomes a different player when he finds the net.

I hope he will be okay. I am sure whatever injury it is, we’ll look after him and he will come back stronger. We looked after Cal Roberts. Jodi will want to return to playing when ready, I am sure.

The announced attendance didn’t seem right. It easily looked over 14,000. In the Pavis, I could see a free seat. The KOP only had seats in the side corners and not many. So, I am baffled by the 11,000.
