We need more questions and shorter answers. Right now, it’s the results and performances that should be doing the talking, not Martin Paterson trying to steer the post-match chat. He still sounds like a player, not a coach. That style doesn’t help when fans want clear insight into what’s happening.
I think he’d be more open if the interviewer pushed him a bit more. Let him respond rather than lead the conversation. That way, we’d get a better sense of his honesty and how he really sees things. It would feel more natural and less rehearsed.

The thing that impressed me most was how the players actually listened to Martin Paterson at half time and came out with purpose. Too often so far this season we’ve seen decent spells without taking control, but at Tranmere we grabbed the game straight after the break. Matthew Dennis is sharp in those areas and Kellan Gordon’s goal showed real composure. The final 15 minutes were about character, defending wave after wave of long balls and set pieces. That’s exactly the kind of away day steel we’ve been lacking. No one is saying it was perfect, but this felt like the first time we looked like a team capable of handling the physical side as well as playing good football.

It’s good to hear Ollie Norburn speak. He made a fair point about how captains lead in different ways, but I still feel Notts could do with someone who’s more vocal on the pitch.
Matt Palmer has been excellent again this season. He’s consistent and reliable, but I think it might be time to pass the armband to someone else next year. A fresh voice could help drive the team forward.
Ollie’s return to football has been impressive. He carries himself like a proper professional and looks like he’s only going to improve with each game.
I hope he can take control of the midfield and help lead the team with real fight and hunger. That kind of attitude could make a big difference in tight matches.

I felt Bromley were always working their way back into the game. Taking off Nick Tsaroulla and Barry Cotter didn’t help, but I understand it’s about managing fitness, keeping players sharp, and giving them the right amount of minutes.
Personally, I would have kept Tsaroulla on and taken off Cotter and Jodi. Both need a bit of protection, Cotter because of the physical battles he faces, and Jodi because he’s not quite ready to play a full 90 minutes yet.
Even though I agree the changes didn’t help us, Bromley were starting to find space and cause problems. They got in behind our wing backs and put dangerous balls across the box. Notts struggled with the high balls and looked shaky at the back.
I think Bromley knew which players were likely to make mistakes, and they saw Kelle Roos as someone they could beat. It’s a shame their equaliser came from such a lucky deflection.

It’s important not to get ahead of ourselves, just like at the start of the season. Still, it was a strong showing, and the goals made it a fun match to watch. Notts put in a good shift. Shrewsbury looked like they’re struggling more than we are, which is a positive sign for us, though it’s a shame for them. I was hoping we’d keep a clean sheet, but credit to them, their goal was nicely taken.
Notts could do with some work on these situations. Our positioning wasn’t the best for their goal, but apart from that, there’s plenty to feel good about.

I don’t think the slow signings have helped. I’m sure Martin Paterson had the team set up properly for Salford, and the squad should have done better.
The passing was really poor yesterday. Notts only have themselves to blame for not getting the result.
It’s not all bad, but the disappointing parts do sting.
Salford, even with their problems, played well. We never got close to matching them.

33 minutes ago, Fan of Big Tone said: I wonder what the players think about all the hard work, MP is certainly focusing on getting them fit, it doesn’t seem as if they are getting much down time. MP seems to have a plan as to preparing them properly it also sounds like he wants us to play on the front foot and be quite aggressive. I quite like that we’ve been too nice the last few seasons.
It can’t be much worse than how Luke Williams used to make the players run straight after matches and during training all the time. That didn’t seem very fun for them. I think it might help the team. If some of the players want to move up from League Two, then this could be a good thing for them.
As long as we get the tactics sorted and know how to beat teams at our own level, the players should do well.

Lorraine was often seen around the Notts staff and played a clear part behind the scenes. When she passed away a few years ago, it was tough news to hear and many felt the loss.
I’ve heard of Kimbo, though I don’t know her personally. I remember PON sharing a video showing she’d beaten cancer before. That stuck with me, and I truly hope she can defy the odds once more.
Even if that’s not possible, I just hope she can be free from pain and make the most of the time she has left.

It's hard to judge his potential without seeing him play. He doesn't appear to have much experience beyond the youth level, which makes you wonder if he's been brought in for the B team.
I've got no problem with giving the lad a chance, he must have shown something to catch the eye of bigger clubs. But I do wonder where he's going to get the experience he needs. At his age, he really should be pushing for a place in the first team.

Great insight and summary of the January transfer window. Notts has strengthened well, and I appreciate how we are not as reliant on players as we were in the past, like Dan Crowley. Although he was a very good player, we might have actually benefited from his departure and the fee. There appears to be a lot more depth, even on the bench, which will give Stuart Maynard the chance to rotate players when games come thick and fast.
-
On paper, it appears to be a promising signing. The arrival of Will Jarvis shouldn't be overshadowed, but Mai Traore is undoubtedly a strong acquisition for us. Even if he requires time to adapt to the club, his speed would be a valuable asset. If he becomes a more consistent Enzio-like player, we will have secured an excellent signing.
-
I just read on the OS that David McGoldrick has been nominated for the Player of the Month award for League Two. His form has been excellent, and I like the comments Stuart Maynard made about him. It's a good insight into what he's like. We see what he does on the pitch, but it reveals dedication off it.
-
That was a proper battling win! First half, we looked so comfortable, great movement, solid passing, and two well-taken goals. Second half, Gillingham came at us strong, and we had to dig deep. Loved seeing McGoldrick take his chance, his composure makes such a difference up top. Bass had a solid game, and the defence held up well despite the late pressure. Definitely need to manage games better towards the end, but overall, a fantastic away result!

It's brilliant to have him back fighting for a place in the starting 11. Curtis Edwards is a good player and can be the one who unlocks the creativity. Sometimes, we rely on players like Dan Crowley, whose ability is above this level, whereas Edwards is quality but more like a jack of all trades.
He's just a relentless worker with such a high work rate. Having a player like Edwards, who can contribute in various aspects of the game, is invaluable. His return adds depth to our squad and provides more options for the manager. As we face tough fixtures ahead, his presence and versatility will be a significant asset to the team.
-
Stuart Maynard is right to be pleased. Carlisle United didn't play all that well, but last season Notts might have dropped at least a point to them. They made Notts work for every inch on the pitch, and it was a touch of class from two players that changed the deadlock.
Had the penalty been given, it might have forced the game to be more lively. The officials robbed the game of that, but I won't complain too much because it's important to just get on with it, and I am proud of the Notts players for not arguing with the officials. Their discipline and focus were commendable, and it shows the team's growth and maturity. It's crucial to maintain this attitude and resilience as we move forward in the season.

George Abbott is a good lad, a solid player, and I can only echo the comments about him having a bright future. I wonder if Spurs fans are taking notice of how he's doing, because he could be a big part of their future if they give him the chance to shine.
He's a solid footballer, and his flexibility in midfield means he can slot into a defensive or attacking role, which is some feat for a 19-year-old. His ability to adapt to different positions on the field is impressive, and it shows his football intelligence and versatility. If he continues to develop at this rate, he could become a key player for any team he joins in the future.
-
I don't think the blip was due to the defence, but rather the injuries and a bit of poor tactics because we didn't have a full squad to select from. We have done brilliantly since, and I don't think we dropped many points whereas at the time, I feared Notts would. Stuart Maynard has picked things up, and he's got two rocks in defence with Jacob Bedeau and Matty Platt.
That is some partnership, and I feel they make it easy for Rod McDonald to slip in with the absence of Lewis Macari. Even Zak Johnson will have a lot to learn from the pair. Their stability at the back has been crucial for our team's performance, and their understanding of each other's play style is evident on the pitch. This solid defensive setup has contributed greatly to our recent successes and has helped maintain our position in the league.
-
I appreciate the openness about the club’s recruitment strategy, especially the focus on balancing the budget while still strengthening the squad. Exploring Scandinavian and Dutch leagues is an exciting prospect. It’s clear they’re thinking long-term, which is crucial for sustainability. Let’s hope January brings some smart signings to push us even higher up the table.
The club's transparent approach not only builds trust with supporters but also sets a positive example for responsible management. By targeting players from regions known for their technical skills and discipline, they are looking to add real value to the team. January can't come soon enough to see these plans in action.
-
A point dropped, but also a point saved. I don't understand why some fans focus solely on the negatives. We have several key injuries, and the only real option we had on the bench was Josh Martin. I wouldn't have put Dan Crowley on, considering how Doncaster were approaching the game, as it could have caused further complications for him. The game was pretty even by the end, despite Doncaster looking like a team we could have beaten.
-
I still believe we shouldn't rely on him too much, but when he scores and takes penalties so calmly, it's hard to imagine anyone else handling those important moments when we need a boost. It's great that David McGoldrick is setting a good example, but his performance is vital, and we also need to manage his playing time carefully.
-
It's frustrating to see us improve so late in a game that could have been different if Notts had dealt with Barrow earlier, but they deserve some credit. It felt like an FA Cup match, so we can consider ourselves fortunate to have earned another point. As the season goes on, draws like this will be very important.
-
Matty Platt has responded well. The match against Wimbledon was nothing short of spectacular. The team worked together brilliantly, and they are becoming stronger.
Despite the injuries at times for Notts, we are still doing well. It might not always be pretty, but at the end of the day, it’s the results that matter. Nobody really cared about last season when we were performing well and would lose games.
We need to accept that sometimes we have to grind out results.
-
He spoke well in his interview after the match. I appreciate the respect he shows, even when the other team doesn't display the same level of class.
The management has done their research, and we should be better at set pieces. It would be great to score more from corners, but that will come with time.
-
It’s refreshing to see someone so young but already so grounded in the game. Abbott’s reflections on the match and his versatility speak volumes about his character. Playing on the wing is tough, yet he made a real impact and that assist for Jatta was perfectly timed. He’s clearly got a bright future ahead, and I’m thrilled he’s bringing his best to Notts. Here’s hoping he settles even more, and maybe we’ll see him on the scoresheet soon.
Matthew Dennis Ready for Gillingham Test after Player of the Month Honour
in News
Matthew Dennis comes across as very modest, which is good to see. He seems to have the right mindset and looks focused on getting better. I liked how he laughed when asked how long his good form might last. It’s a bit of a silly question really, because so much depends on things he can't control. Of course he’ll want it to carry on for as long as possible.
He fully deserves the Player of the Month award. I just hope the team keeps working hard to improve how we play, or at the very least keeps picking up wins.
