Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Cardinals (H)
@Elite_pieanalysis spot on as usual. Defence remains weak, (both central and full backs) we cannot defend the high ball again. need a Neal Bishop type to complement Palmer's Phil Turner impression. Slick forwards find away past us too, whereas Wootton seems ponderous at times. No real urgency when we have the ball and many times, wrong options are being chosen.

Match Discussion: Play Off Semi Final - The Gulls (A)
Last season's play offs were Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday... with a week to prepare, Notts should be match tuned whilst Torquay have had a longer break without a competitive match.

Match Discussion: Game 46 - The Lilywhites (A)
Actually, I would not be surprised if Bromley get through to the final. Very well organised and although Notts should have been well ahead by H/T. Bromley have that resilience in defence

Match Discussion: Game 45 - The Terras (H)
well played

Match Discussion: Game 43 - The Bees (A)
Rawlinson still gives me nightmares when in possession in a back 3. Perhaps, we were stronger attacking as Barnet had a back 3 too, there was then room for the wing backs to get forward. With the current squad, a back 4 is still my preferred option

Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
Our manager fast becoming a Jamie Fullarton Mark II . Talks a good game but cannot motivate a team

Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
Unfortunately @Super_Danny_Allsopp analysis is right. No motivation, no nothing... they just don't care. Only player who could beat a man was Ruben and he got subbed

Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
great free kick from Rodrigues 1-1 at half time Rawlinson and Turner making serious mistakes when in possession

Get out of jail card was found lying around... Ardley will be asked to walk if promotion not achieved.

Match Discussion: Game 27 - The Hatters (A)
I believe the Xg stats are showing a low ratio of chance creation but that we are relatively strong at the back..but even then we are outperforming the graph, given the chances the opposition are failing to convert

I fear missing Sam Slocombe could be crucial. Defence will need to step up to protect Pilling especially.- Match Discussion: Game 24 - Daggers (H)
@Super_Danny_Allsoppagreed, George Saunders their stand out amongst the mediocrity https://www.hornchurchfc.com/player/george-saunders/- Match Discussion: Game 24 - Daggers (H)
On reflection, going a man down, one would normally see someone like Knowles, Enzio or Ruben substituted for JOB. Full credit for Ardley to keeping the team "shape", a lesson on not "backs to the wall and booting it anywhere" but keeping possession, not allowing the Daggers to get control of the ball to make their numerical advantage count.- Match Discussion: Game 24 - Daggers (H)
I just hope that the Sam Slocombe "moment" isn't a repeat of the Ross Fitzsimons "moment" against Crawley. Will Ardley will go for an experienced emergency loan keeper to cover for the 3 games Sam will be missing?..... just seen Ardley's interview..the answer to that is no- Match Discussion: Game 18 - The Linnets (H)
Game is postponed because of Covid in Kings Lynn camp- Match Discussion: Game 17 - Pools (H)
The opening of a game with our slick passing is long gone. We are missing Dennis who turned average performances last season into winning ones.- Match Discussion: Game 15 - The Glovers (A)
4-2-3-1 Slocombe Brindley Rawlinson Lacey DKE Doyle Reeves Sam Rodrigues Walker Wootton- Shaun Derry: The Magpie Circle - The Great Escape double episode feature
I've listened to the 2nd one first..... again a really good insightful interview by @TheMagpieCircle Here is my take, reading between the lines: 1) Recruitment: Brano's appointment an absolute disaster waiting to happen ( had he been a head of recruitment elsewhere?..no, I think is the answer) 2) Recruitment : Derry seemingly signed players on "other peoples" recommendations, without ever seeing them play. Jimmy Sirrel did the leg work, travelling up to Scotland midweek to see games... I never got that impression that Shaun put in the miles? he mentioned Greg Abbotts in depth knowledge of L1, L2, Conference...so why did we end up signing the likes of Hayhurst, Wroe, Santos on loan.... It just doesn't hang well together. Bajner being a case on point, signed up on the basis of a call from his agent 3) Budget cuts.... I think people are missing the flip side to this equation. The Trews, probably still had the financial legacy of the Munto fiasco to continually to sort out. Also, maybe, writing without any knowledge...did the Trews have the necessary "dosh" coming in to finance the budgets...hence the cuts being made. I recall Chris Kiwomya saying his budget had been cut by a third...so this was ongoing...- Match Discussion: Game 14 - The Wood (H)
The wood...are they good at chopping?- Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Cardinals (H)
@menzinho I think Chicksen was a panic signing. The times he has aimlessly punted down the line and lost possession is probably the reason why DKE is the preferred choice now- Match Discussion: Game 12 - Daggers (A)
@Super_Danny_AllsoppI actually liked Jay Smith, especially at home versus Morecambe, he bossed the game from midfield with his passing...and yes, he was lightweight.... I am surprised no one has mentioned the Dagenham manager, Daryl McMahon...having played too for Notts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daryl_McMahon I could never understand Thommo's fixation with playing Ian Ross. His career, post Notts, says all you need to know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Ross_(footballer,_born_1986)- Match Discussion: Game 12 - Daggers (A)
As @Super_Danny_Allsopp said, re Myles Weston "Couldnt cross to save his life". He made his Notts debut 7 April 2007 in a 2-0 win over Boston United. Notts team that day: K Pilkington D Pipe M Edwards S Hunt G Silk A McCann A Parkinson J Smith I Ross L Dudfield J Lee Substitutes M Somner T N'Toya J Walker M Weston M Byron Myles joined on loan from Charlton with James Walker, who looked the far more impressive player: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Walker_(footballer,_born_1987) I remember being disappointed in us not signing James - Match Discussion: Game 28 - The Magpies (A)
