  1. Martin Allen is such a character. I’ve followed his career since his days at West Ham, but his stint at Notts County was special. The way he galvanised the team to avoid relegation in 2011 was impressive, and his honest approach to football management is refreshing. This event promises to be a real treat, count me in!
  2. Derby County 1-2 Hull City Plymouth Argyle 3-4 Preston North End Cambridge United 1-0 Burton Albion Lincoln City 3-2 Stockport County Bradford City 1-1 Doncaster Rovers joker Newport County 2-2 Fleetwood Town Barnet 0-2 Rochdale Ebbsfleet United 1-1 Wealdstone
  3. I’ve been really impressed by how McGoldrick is handling this season. He’s playing with the energy of a much younger man but with the wisdom that only comes from years of experience. The way he described knowing he’d score the penalty, even after playing 95 minutes, just shows how much belief he has in himself. It’s great to have a player like him in the squad, especially one who cares as much about the team’s success as his own. His comments on clean sheets show his maturity, he understands that we need to be solid at the back to win matches, which is crucial. McGoldrick is the kind of leader we need if we want to keep pushing for promotion.

  8. Entertaining stories. I have nothing to add, but I want to encourage other members who might to consider joining in and adding more value to this. The Billy Connolly story sounds like he was trying to be amusing with the “are you lost” comment. I have seen some celebrities in person, but never had the chance to speak to them.
  9. That looks fun! It’s amazing to think how the Pride of Nottingham has thrived despite the on-field and off-field issues that Notts has faced. I’m not sure who it was in the video, but it does feel like a community. It’s a shame some of those who featured are no longer here, but that’s life.
  10. With our squad getting back to full strength, I feel optimistic. McGoldrick being rested midweek is smart; his experience will be invaluable. I would love to see us dominate possession and play with intelligence, keeping their threats at bay. Robertson and Palmer have a good understanding in midfield; I hope they can exploit any gaps. Notts fans are always vocal and that support can lift the team at crucial moments. I'm predicting Robertson with a goal and a 2-1 win for us.
  11. Absolutely, an early lead could set the tone for the rest of the match. With our strong offensive lineup, maintaining pressure on the opposition’s defence could be key. If we can capitalise on our chances early on, it might just give us the momentum we need to control the game and secure a win. Let’s hope the team brings their A-game! It's interesting how Steven mentions hoping for an attacking approach. Notts has been doing well offensively, and I'd love to see us take advantage and secure an early lead.
  12. Despite Port Vale’s recent commendable form, Notts has consistently demonstrated a robust fighting spirit, enlivened by our formidable fan base at Meadow Lane. Gordon’s interview underlined aspirations aligning with our ambitions this season. Nonetheless, it’s about utilising the tactical strengths that @Chris often speaks about. Kellan Gordon’s adaptation and his potential impact will be pivotal, especially considering Jodi Jones's absence. I’m enthusiastic about the attacking vigour we could display, and if we ensure defensive steadiness, a win isn’t beyond reach. The anticipation around Notts regaining their winning trajectory excites the supporters’ hopes. Stand tall and unite, as this fixture against Port Vale holds an essential cue for our campaign.
  13. Maynard’s squad management is spot on. He’s wisely not rushing McGoldrick back, considering his importance. The tactical flexibility is interesting; it’s not always about playing out from the back. Sometimes, going long and using players like Bass, who can distribute accurately, is key. This could help break down teams that press aggressively. With Martin and Brown joining, we now have depth, which will be crucial this season. Big game against Port Vale, and I’m feeling hopeful.
  14. Notts County’s performance was nothing short of brilliant. Stuart Maynard has instilled a fighting spirit in the squad, and it showed on the pitch. Bass’s late save secured the clean sheet, highlighting his importance to the team. The goals from Jatta and Robertson were well-crafted, reflecting effective training ground routines. The support from the fans in the stands was phenomenal, and it's clear they have a vital role in the team's success.
  15. Bass was a standout for me last night. He didn’t have loads to do, but when called upon, he delivered every time. That save near the end was brilliant, and it really capped off a solid defensive performance. He’s got this amazing ability to stay focused, even when the ball’s not in his area for long spells, and that concentration was key last night.
  16. Norwich City 3-2 Leeds United Sunderland 2-1 Derby County Birmingham City 0-0 Huddersfield Town Crawley Town 1-3 Mansfield Town Leyton Orient 1-1 Exeter City Doncaster Rovers 0-1 Barrow Joker Newport County 1-1 Salford City Tranmere Rovers 2-3 Swindon Town
  17. Travelling to Brunton Park to face Carlisle United is no small feat, especially with the current spate of injuries hitting the squad. Stuart Maynard will need to bring out his tactical acumen to put out a balanced and resilient team. I believe he should focus on a fortified defence to block Carlisle's advances, while also ensuring we have the spark in midfield to create opportunities. Bringing in younger players could provide a fresh dynamic, albeit the experienced talents like Didzy will be key in maintaining composure. Carlisle's home advantage will undoubtedly put us under pressure, but we need to keep our defensive lines tight and organised. Making the most of set-pieces and counter-attacks could be our way to break through their defence. It’s crucial to avoid the mistakes we made in previous games, especially conceding early. Football can always surprise us, and while a draw seems a reasonable expectation, I wouldn’t rule out a win.
  18. Liam Cole's analysis provides valuable insight into Carlisle United’s season and their potential threats. Mike Williamson’s managerial style, focusing on possession-based football, could test our defensive line significantly. It's crucial for Notts to play with precision and exploit any weaknesses that Liam highlighted, especially their tendency to switch off in the latter stages of the game. It's also worth noting Carlisle’s standout players like Archie Davies, who could pose challenges. Balancing our play between solid defence and smart offensive moves will be key to overcoming Carlisle. Despite their improvement, I trust in our team's consistency and strategic planning to come out on top. Here’s to another positive result for Notts!
  19. Conceding within the first two minutes had me fearing the worst, but the lads displayed tremendous heart. Maynard’s halftime talk must have struck the right chords because the second half was significantly better. Sam Austin’s cross for Platt’s equaliser was pure magic. While a draw might not seem like much, given the circumstances, it’s a point well-earned. The team exhibited grit and determination throughout. It’s a pity the referee didn’t show a red card to their centre-back, though.

  22. While it is true, remember that the more minutes the youngsters get, the more they will learn and grow in confidence. It’s hard to judge a youngster when they are just settling into the team. I thought all the youngsters looked capable of playing alongside what I would consider to be a much weakened Notts side. Experienced players like Adam Chicksen, Sam Austin, Rod McDonald, and Kellan Gordon all helped the youngsters. Chicksen was the first to respond to Riley Reynolds. The ball from Reynolds was perfect. Yes, it was a simple pass, but he didn’t hesitate and knew exactly where Gordon was.
  23. Kellan Gordon gets my vote. He had a good game. I thought he played a big part in us winning it.
  24. It's moments like these that make you appreciate the work done at the Academy. Kameron Muir stepping onto the pitch at 15 years old is not just a win for him, but for the entire Academy setup. To have the right guidance and mentorship at that age is crucial, and it’s obvious that Jake Henry and his team have done wonders with him. What stood out to me was Kameron’s calmness throughout the whole experience. For a lad that young to take it all in stride is impressive. The fact that he’s so grounded will help him go far in his career. Really looking forward to seeing how he progresses from here, hopefully, this is just the start.
