That calmness is spreading to the players. Nobody panicked when Fleetwood pressed, and it feels like the side is learning to manage games properly. Four unbeaten is no accident.

The team looked much more settled against Shrewsbury and you could see the work from the training ground coming through. Early goals made a huge difference, and it was good to see us punishing mistakes rather than letting sides off the hook. Dennis is improving with every game and deserves credit. Second half was professional, controlled and with some nice finishes to wrap things up. The subs did their bit too, especially Grant who took his goal superbly. If we keep that sort of performance level, Meadow Lane will become a tough place for any side to come.

I agree that Matt Palmer deserves to be named Man of the Match, and I’ve voted for him. I felt that a lot of the players who usually perform well didn’t quite get going this time. I thought we looked very well organised and comfortable on the ball for most of the match. The system suits players like Palmer and Jones who can dictate tempo and create chances.
