Seeing Notts at the top of the table in the last few years has been rare, and this move supports that trend. The debt write off makes the club more attractive to potential players and staff who want stability. It also reduces the chance of another owner stepping in with big injections that skew the season. Fans want transparency and results, and the public statement helps. If recruitment stays smart and the academy feeds into the first team, we can build a strong squad without taking on heavy risk. It is not a guarantee, but it is a sensible step in the right direction.

Not many fans expect perfection from a Fans Forum, but we do want an honest chance to learn what the club is trying to do. When topics like loans or the exit of staff come up, a clear explanation helps a lot more than silence. I think the best outcome is concrete answers to real questions, plus a real sense that the club listens to the people who pay to watch.
If the panel can outline a plan for recruitment, youth development, and release of players, with milestones, supporters will feel more confident. It would also help if they set follow ups, like a summary after the event and a simple way to submit questions in future. A calm, factual tone can turn worry into focus, and that helps the fans stand with Notts County instead of turning away.

I think this is a really positive development for Notts, even if it won’t change the day-to-day running of the club straight away. Having that big loan off the books makes the accounts look much stronger and takes away a big shadow hanging over the finances. That can only be a good thing when it comes to long-term planning.
It also shows that the Reedtz brothers are not just here to make money, not that you do in football. Yet, they clearly care about building the right foundations and protecting the club from financial risk. Plenty of clubs have gone under because loans weren’t dealt with, so this is a big step towards avoiding that fate.

Jacob Bedeau isn’t playing at the level he showed last season. He’s been poor at the back and doesn’t offer much going forward either. I’m not sure what’s changed, but he’s making basic mistakes. It’s got to the point where I’m wondering what the people who used to criticise Kyle Cameron are thinking now.
Sonny Aljofree found it hard against stronger players. Gillingham are a decent side and they made the most of pushing and pulling our lads around. It got frustrating to watch, and both Aljofree and Bedeau had a tough time.
Rod McDonald was solid and stood out. Apart from him, only Jodi Jones looked like he was really involved in the match.

It wasn’t the smoothest display, but it showed real grit from Notts when it mattered. Fleetwood were lively down the right in the first half and caused plenty of trouble, with Roos needing to make a few strong saves to keep things level. On another day, they might have taken one of those chances, but Notts held firm and didn’t fold under pressure.
Dennis took his goal well, showing calmness in front of the net, and Jatta looked lively before being forced off. What stood out most was how the substitutes helped steady things late on. Paterson made smart changes at the right time, and it’s clear he’s not afraid to act when the game needs it. The bench looks much stronger now, even with Dennis and Jatta starting together, and that depth could be key as the season goes on.
There’s a lot to be pleased about beyond the scoreline. The team showed resilience, the manager made good decisions, and the squad looks more balanced. Winning in tough conditions, especially when the performance isn’t perfect, is a sign of progress. It’s not always about flair, sometimes it’s about finding a way, and Notts did just that.

Given Tranmere's current form, our Magpies will need every ounce of tactical acumen to navigate this match. Their unbeaten home streak and physical playstyle often create hurdles for teams like us who prefer a more possession-based game. Martin Paterson's focus on maintaining a cohesive identity while injecting tempo will be crucial elements of our play. There's no doubt that Dennis could shine if provided the right service, and our defence needs to be alert, especially during set pieces.
It's good news hearing about Jatta's availability. Having options off the bench could prove decisive if the game starts tilting. Also, with the transfer deadline looming, stability in the squad might just help in maintaining morale and focus. While a win would be spectacular, coming away with a draw from Prenton Park would be a commendable result, strengthening our standing and confidence as the season unfolds.

It’s a tough one to take, really. The lads put in a strong shift and deserved more than just a point. Dennis kept their defence busy all game and looks sharper with each outing. Palmer was steady in the middle, keeping things ticking and creating openings.
Bromley came out with more intent after the break, and their bench gave them a lift. Ours didn’t quite change the flow, and once they got level, it felt like it had been coming. Still, picking up four points across two matches isn’t a bad return.
-
Notts have the players and the talent. What matters now is putting in the effort and sticking with it. If a team tries to stop us playing, we need to find ways around it. I really hope we’re starting to see the results of all the work done in training.
Bromley might sit deep and be happy to defend, so we’ll need to stay patient and keep pushing. If we create chances, the goals should follow. After the strong showing against Shrewsbury, it’ll be good to be back at Meadow Lane. The fans have plenty to be excited about.

I agree that Matt Palmer deserves to be named Man of the Match, and I’ve voted for him. I felt that a lot of the players who usually perform well didn’t quite get going this time. Palmer stood out because he kept trying to move the ball around and encouraged smarter play.
It’s a shame the rest of the midfield couldn’t quite match his level. He’s the kind of player who can help drive the team forward. We need to find that spark to get our attacking play going again.
-
Hall looks like the sort of player who can slot into several roles across the midfield, which is ideal for how Paterson seems to want to play. With so many matches and the risk of injuries, we’ll need lads who can step in and perform without needing weeks to adjust. If he can keep the tempo up and play on the front foot, that’ll be a big plus.
Also reassuring to see the club building on relationships with teams like Spurs. Abbott was useful last year, and if Hall can have a similar or even bigger impact, it bodes well. These sorts of deals are exactly how you blend youth with ambition, let’s just hope he gets enough minutes to develop and help us push on.
-
I thought we looked very well organised and comfortable on the ball for most of the match. The system suits players like Palmer and Jones who can dictate tempo and create chances. We had them pinned back and just couldn’t get the breakthrough early, which always puts you at risk of something daft at the other end, and that’s exactly what happened.
Second half became a bit disjointed but we still kept plugging away. Really liked the impact from Norburn when he came on, added a bit of steel and composure. Penalty was soft but Dennis did well to force it, and Jones made no mistake. Hopefully next week we turn this kind of control into a win.

Ethan Smith is a very obscure link between Notts County and Salford City. He began his career with Salford’s B team before making the move to Notts.
Although he’s not yet an established professional and hasn’t played for the first team at Meadow Lane, he still counts as a connection between the two clubs. It’s an unusual one, but worth mentioning all the same.

It’s refreshing to hear someone in a senior role speak so clearly about the club’s direction. Gagliardi comes across as thoughtful and forward-thinking, building a squad that’s not just for the short term. With eleven signings already, he’s still focused on improving the starting line-up without simply stockpiling players. That’s a clever approach.
He also seems to have found the right rhythm with the owners and coaching staff. It feels like a proper team effort, not just people carrying out instructions. The mention of technical board meetings and regular contact with loan clubs is reassuring. That kind of joined-up thinking gives hope for a strong and steady season.

Tom Iorpenda had a great first half and stood out in a very lively starting eleven that looked to attack right from the first whistle. He found space well and wasn’t afraid to carry the ball forward or play a pass when needed. His link-up play was strong and he worked well with those around him.
The runs he made were hard for Newport to deal with, which is a good sign. He’s not the same type of player as George Abbott, but he brings a calm and sensible approach to midfield that you don’t often see in young lads.
-
The first half against Newport was genuinely enjoyable to watch. The intent and vigour in our attacking play were both refreshing and encouraging. Yet, as has often been the case, we seem to struggle with maintaining that momentum without conceding, particularly when we reach half-time at 0-0.
Playing in front of our own supporters always appears to give us an edge. Notts traditionally favours attacking the KOP in the second half, and that familiar setting seems to galvanise the team. However, after the break against Newport, we lacked that same sharpness and intensity.
Our strong start was undeniably a positive, and I believe there are more reasons to be optimistic than some fans might suggest. The real question, though, is how Paterson can inspire the squad to deliver a complete performance across the full ninety minutes, regardless of where the backing comes from.
Does anyone else notice this pattern? I’m not levelling criticism at the players or the new head coach, as this seems to be a longstanding Notts trait. I just can’t quite pinpoint the reason behind it.

Think there’s a lot to be positive about after that showing. First half we looked like we were still finding our rhythm, but second half we looked much more like a team ready to start the season. Barry Cotter took his goal brilliantly, you could tell as soon as he shaped up to shoot that it was going in. Really hope he gets a good run whilst on loan with us because he offers something different.
Also thought Conor Grant looked really sharp again. He keeps things ticking and always finds space. The link-up between him and Alassana Jatta for the second goal was quality. Jatta really showed his physicality and calmness there, did all the hard work, then slotted it calmly. Defensively we’ve still got bits to tidy up, but it’s night and day compared to previous pre-seasons.
-
Pre-season is all about helping players get fit again, letting new ones settle in, and letting things go a bit wild so they’re ready to deal with proper matches later. Playing against teams like us helps the lads know what to expect when the real games start. I’m really starting to like Martin Paterson. He seems sharp, says all the right things, and you can tell he wants Notts to go for it, no matter who we’re up against or how big the gap is. That attitude’s what we need.
The score might make us look better than we were, but it’s only a friendly so that’s alright. We must’ve shown a bit of fight out there, which is good to see. With the goal we scored, and Paterson saying the squad was getting tired, it’s nice to know we can still put a tidy move together like we did. Conor Grant’s rebound tap-in was a lovely moment. Shows we can play some proper football, even when the legs are going.
