  1. I think he would do well with Jacob Bedeau and Matty Platt alongside him. The problem is, he is not a right-sided centre back. I also believe some of our fans treated him unfairly while he was the captain. I wonder if the new arrivals, combined with the negativity directed at him, have made him want to move on. I wish him well at Barrow; it should be a good move. I don't see why Notts and Cameron can't come to an agreement to let him leave. He could then join Barrow or another team permanently.
  2. Swindon Town played poorly. They had some threats, but we dealt with them defensively for the most part. It's noteworthy that the times Swindon looked like they might score came from our own mistakes. David McGoldrick's short pass, intended for Alex Bass, was a comical error. Rod McDonald defended well against aerial threats, but with the ball at his feet, he looked a bit clumsy at times. Not to take away from his excellent performance, but we were lucky the errors didn't cost us. For instance, Alex Bass's throw-out in the second half went straight to a Swindon player with an open net. We defended well to manage that, but on another day, it could have punished us. I'm delighted with the win and overall performance; these are just points I kept thinking about. I wonder if it is being classed as a deflection rather than an own goal. Otherwise, it should have been awarded as an own goal. I am happy that Didzy is credited with it.
  3. Nobody shined more than David McGoldrick. It was a good team performance. It was nice to see Matt Palmer pulling the strings. I thought Josh Martin looked effective, and Sam Austin ran his heart out.
  4. You can't judge a player from a few brief appearances because Josh Martin seems to have settled well. There's definitely a player in him, so I would keep him if his wages are fair. The only reason not to extend his stay would be if his wages are higher than what a rotational player might get, which I doubt. We need to get the best out of players who arrive with low morale. They can be the biggest bargains, so we must ensure he doesn't lose his way.
  5. Honestly, I thought Jacob Bedeau was our best player. However, some fans seem to be very critical of him. I heard someone compare him to Kyle Cameron, but as a better defender. I don't think comments like that reflect his true ability. His performance was superb, and he deserves recognition for it.
  6. What a game and a fair result in the end. Jatta’s early goal demonstrated how well-prepared the team is in their drills and strategies. It’s amazing to see such a plan executed perfectly. The team's energy in the first 20 minutes was outstanding, setting the tone for the match. Well done to them for holding firm against Doncaster’s pressure in the second half. Maynard is spot on about the fans, their support truly lifted the team. Securing a draw away from home is always a good result in this league, especially considering our current injury list. The lads showed great resilience and determination throughout the match.
  7. Great match and a fair result in the end. Jatta’s early goal showed how well-drilled the team is in their patterns and set plays. It’s impressive to see such a plan come to life. The team’s energy in the opening 20 minutes set the pace, and credit to them for staying solid against Doncaster’s second-half pressure. Maynard’s right about the fans, they truly drove the lads on. A draw away is always decent in this league especially with the current injuries within our camp.
  8. I think this was a game where Matty Platt really showed his leadership at the back. The first half was cagey, and we didn’t look like ourselves, but the way the defence stayed organised was key. Platt’s ability to get forward for corners has been excellent, and today it paid off. He’s right when he says we needed to keep things tight and avoid sloppy mistakes, and you could see how much they focused on that. His goal was a bonus and a deserved reward for his hard work. Great to see the team bounce back and keep the clean sheet, especially after the last two home results. Up the Pies!
  9. Not much to cheer about from this match, unfortunately. The performance, while not poor, still left much to be desired. The decision against us was a harsh reminder of the uncertainties of football. Yet, one can’t help but think we wasted too many opportunities to stamp our authority on the game. The game's tempo was in our favour at times, yet we failed to make that count. Injuries have indeed taken a toll, but good teams find ways to win despite adversity. The squad will be back to full strength soon. Chesterfield is up next, and I've every belief the team will come out with renewed determination.
  10. It’s significant to approach this match with both caution and confidence. Our recent results highlight our depth and adaptability. Midfield play will be the heart of winning this game. If Palmer can orchestrate from the centre, keeping it simple yet effective, we’ve got a real chance. Port Vale will test us, especially with their ability to transition quickly, but our backline resilience should hold firm. Jatta's inclusion can be pivotal before hitting them on the break.
  11. I’m really liking Maynard’s approach to managing the squad’s fitness and form. The balance between keeping key players fresh and integrating the new signings has been crucial so far, especially with injuries to McGoldrick and Grant. Bass’s impact can’t be understated either, he’s not only solid at the back but also offers a lot going forward with his distribution. Maynard’s comments about mixing up our tactics make sense too. We can’t afford to be too predictable, and Bass’s ability to play long balls adds an extra dimension. It’s good to see that Maynard isn’t just focused on one way of playing but is willing to adapt based on the situation. Hopefully, we’ll see that come into play against Port Vale.
  12. Since his arrival, Palmer has always been a key player for Notts County, and his return was absolutely vital for our recent win. His ability to rally the team after such a poor start showcases his leadership qualities. It’s not just about his skill on the ball, but his presence and influence that clearly elevate the team’s performance. The comeback was a testament to the squad's character and determination, much of which can be attributed to Palmer’s influence. His praise for his teammates, especially Jones, shows his humility and recognition of the collective effort. It's these elements that make him an outstanding captain and a much-loved figure at the club. Thrilled to have him back!
  13. Curtis Edwards really showed his class in the 4-1 victory over Grimsby. His move to a more advanced role allowed him to influence the game more directly, and it was great to see him perform so well after a challenging cup match. His comments about the team's support following his mistakes in the cup match highlight the strong team spirit at Notts. The fans' presence and encouragement at Meadow Lane must give the players a huge boost. Edwards' adaptability and team-oriented mindset are exactly what we need to push forward this season. With his experience and determination, I believe he can make a significant impact as we aim for more victories.
  14. The match was a true showcase of Notts County’s attacking potential. Dan Crowley’s brace was a testament to his sharpness and positioning. The early goal by Jatta set the tone, and the team never looked back. Jones’ stunning strike right before half-time was a class act, and it effectively sealed Grimsby's fate. I have to commend the defence as well; they held firm against any threat that Grimsby tried to muster in the second half. Overall, it was a complete performance from front to back.
  15. Conor Grant's goal is just a glimpse of what he can offer, I was particularly impressed by his pragmatic view of the transfer and how he’s adjusted so quickly. It's not easy settling into a new team, especially so close to the start of the season. Nonetheless, Grant's previous experience and his ability to perform under pressure could be key for us. The new pitch at Meadow Lane looks fantastic, and having a player who appreciates it can only mean good things for our home games.
