  1. The Notts defence was a big success story for Notts last season. Matty Platt, Jacob Bedeau, Lewis Macari, Rod McDonald & to a lesser extent Lucas Ness, played their part in a much improved defence. I'm sure that they will all have a part to play in the coming season. But which of those players would be in your first eleven, & would you prefer a back three or back four? Do you think that Notts should recruit more defenders to join them?
  2. You're Weather cast for Friday.
  3. @Fan of Big Tone we have Prairie flowers, (Rudbeckia) at the top of our garden. I have them in pots too. They flower toward the end of summer & they last for weeks. The Bees love them. You can let them grow wild, & they spread very quickly from year to year & need only small maintenance. We also have an American lilac which is a massive Bee attractor when it flowers in late spring. We had to trim it down before the spring as it is such a fast growing bush
  4. @Chris I know it's difficult when you have rusted brackets attached to the house wall it's the screws that rust & they are hard to remove. A few months ago we had a new Aerial fitted to the side of the house just below the gable end. The guy fitting it removed the damaged old Aerial but couldn't get the bracket off. So he left it & fitted a new bracket because it needed to be higher. I had to move a lock on my garden gate, but the screws had rusted and wouldn't turn. I managed to drill out the screws. We've found it's better to make up our own hanging baskets. Buying baskets already made up doesn't take into account where the hanging basket may be hung, whether the flowers are full sun or partial sun. Our back garden faces south, so the flowers have to be ok with partial sun. We hang out our baskets on our garden fence posts which gives a nice feature.
  5. It's raining here now but fortunately I was able to do a couple of hours worth of gardening this morning. Mrs has ordered180 bedding plant seedlings. So there will be plenty of work to do next week We will be filling half a dozed hanging baskets as well as planting the bedding plants. We prefer to fill our own hanging baskets rather than buy the hanging baskets already made up.
  6. I also want our new Head Coach to be a very good tactician. Too many times opposing teams have won the battle with their superior tactics on the day. The new Head Coach needs to address that situation, because if Notts can win that tactical battle every time. They will not be far off the top of the table.
  7. Here is you weather 4cast for Thursday

  13. I belong to the old school of thought. A Head Coach should have plenty of input when it comes to recruitment. A good Head Coach will have a good idea what kind of player that he wants to build a successful squad. A Head Coach at Notts will be aware of what the owners want regarding the playing style & the Head Coach should know lots of players around the Country & I think that it is vital for the Head Coach to be involved in recruitment discussions. For all said & done the Head Coach picks the starting 11 & 7 substitutes for every match. We have already seen that the last Notts Head Coach didn't play players that for ever reason he thought weren't up to it. It is vital that every player in the squad, if fit, should have a part to play. Modern football is a squad game, & the Head Coach should be able to call on any one of his players to do a job for him when they are called upon.
  14. A Head Coach chooses his Matchday squad for each game. Is it necessary that a Head Coach has input in the recruitment process, or isn't it necessary?
  15. Wow @super_ram you are a hard taskmaster. At least I earned two stars 😲 .
  16. He looks to be an exciting signing. He has great potential, he has pace, he's powerful, & it appears he can play in different positions that will suit Notts. I'm sure that Notts will use him as an attacker, in an attacking midfield position & also on the wing. His recruitment fits the Notts recruitment mantra. He is young, has potential, he can be used in different positions, & he's a free agent. Although I'm excited by his signing I would love to see Notts mix the young with signing older experienced players, who I believe Notts need to maintain a promotion challenge.
