Another encouraging result for Notts. I'm loving how Notts are playing at the moment. We used to have a reputation of being a soft touch. We had loads of the ball but secumbed to the sucker punch on countless occasions . This is another match that we've conceded possession. We had 42.3% share today, but we came away with a result. It will be interesting how Notts play against a side that that doesn't like to play the ball around, and has a similar way of playing to how Notts shape up at the moment.

The Notts first 11 and Substitutes for the game at Luton. Robertson replaced Campbell who isn't in the match day squad. No Emile Acquah in the 18, but Ishe Samuels-Smith is in the squad for the first time.

It's early days I know but I think this team is stronger with the new players that have come in. The only area where I think we are weaker is upfront due to Jatta not being fully replaced by a comparable talented finisher, although I would love to be proved wrong. Maybe Smyth, & Acquah will have something to say about that.

It's been a gloomy day here, but just a sprinkling of rain this morning. The garden plants are absolutely loving it.

Key points from the Paterson interview. Paterson thinks there will be more player incomings, but it has to be the right player for the Notts model. Martin has set individual improvement targets for every player. Paterson " It's a tough league" Update on Jodi Jones "No News". He remains a Notts County player. My Take. Paterson is working his players hard & he's also setting them improvement targets. By the evidence of the first two competitive matches this season, what he is doing is certainly working so far. The players are working to his system of playing & they are definitely playing for him which is a very positive thing.

I don't want Jodi to go. I agree that we need flair players to give us something extra. Cal Roberts is that type of player. We've only seen two competitive games but it's enough to see there has been a sea change in the style. Against the weaker League 1 teams we may see a little more flair from the team. But generally we are not going to dominate teams possession wise as we did in League 2. Jodi may not want to be an impact player off the bench, but if he stayed that could be his role.

Luton finished in seventh place in League 1 last season after being relegated from the Championship the previous season. They missed out on a playoff place by just one point. This season they are tipped to be one of the favourites for Promotion Luton finished last season unbeaten in their last five matches, winning four of the five & drawing the other. They have made a good start to this season winning both their matches scoring seven goals. Luton have made six notable signings in the pre season, one being striker Callum Marshall, a £1.75 million signing from West Ham. Another was Kasey Palmer, a £580K signing from Hull City after a successful loan spell at Luton last season. It is going to be another difficult match for Notts against a side that has the money available to spend big at this level. Notts will have to work very hard all over the pitch as they did against Leicester last Saturday. Luton have demonstrated that they can score goals. Notts have only conceded two goals in their first two competitive matches, so it will be interesting to see how this match plays out. Can Notts continue with their good form defensively or will Luton be successful in unlocking the Notts defence? I think that this could be a harder match for Notts than the home game against Leicester last week. Notts were an unknown quantity against Leicester. The Notts side was full of new players with only 4 players from the side the played last season. I think the Luton Head Coach would have studied a video of the Notts v Leicester match & planned a way of countering the Notts tactics. On the other hand this Notts squad is a level up compared to the Notts squad of last season. The players are switched on and willing to work hard for Martin. Martin expects no less either, he's a tough task master & any shirkers will be given short shrift. The early signs are that Notts will be much meaner defensively and will be hard to break down. I think this match could easily end as a 0:0 or 1:1 draw to keep the Notts unbeaten run going.
