  1. The Notts team has been chosen The team is more or less what was expected, Austin in for Jones. McGoldrick leads the line. No Macari in the starting eleven. Cundy replaces him.
  2. I always remember this from Brian Clough. It's a classic.
  3. Lunch. A very productive morning for Notts. Notts 440/9
  4. Update Notts are 388/7. Verryenne reaches his first Century for Notts.
  5. Morecambe U 18s v Notts U 18s 12 pm kick off at Lancaster & Morecambe College.
  6. Jacob Bedeau has been an excellent signing for Notts. Not only is he solid at the back he is also keen to make some forays into the opposition half. He has struck a great defensive partnership with Platt & Macari at the back too. I believe Jacob can only get better as the season goes on. He might even score some vital goals too.
  7. Good morning. It's a lovely morning here plenty of sunshine, no wind but is is a crisp morning. Did you know that Mansfield was thought to be the centre of Sherwood Forest, & was a stop over for travellers going from Nottingham to Sheffield & Vice Versa? There is a plaque in Mansfield town centre marking the spot . In the time of Henry II of England, the king visited what is now known as Kings Mill, staying at the home of Sir John Cockle for a night having been hunting in Sherwood Forest. Sir John Cockle was later known as the Miller of Mansfield.
  8. @Wheelbarrow repair man Just looking at his wiki. And haven't we seen this style employed all over the English game, even a Notts "Pochettino favours a very high-pressing, attacking style of football. He often employs a 4–2–3–1 formation at the clubs he manages. While doing so, he instructs his team to build from the back, intimidate & unsettle opponents with a quick-press system and work the ball into the box." It just begs the perennial question. Is this the style that is the be the all or end all from now on, or can the English style make a comeback in our game? "The English style of football is simple and easy to implement, & the British philosophy is to get the ball up to the forwards as soon as possible. The ideal British striker is physically strong, aggressive, and can power their way past defenses".
  9. I've noticed that BBC Sports had an article on him, so it looks like Kameron is getting some national attention already. I hope it's not the case, but we all know very well that PL clubs & their scouts will possibly show interest in him as the did Jermaine. I believe it would be better for Kameron to continue to develop at Notts, where he is settled & the club can help him much more, because they know him so we'll.
  10. I just wonder if it not just about talent & how good a player is or is not. Could it be that the player doesn't hit it off with the coaches, his fellow players or simply doesn't show enough on the training ground? I'm not saying that is the case here. It just may be a factor generally within football.
  11. No matter what the situation with Jodi is, it's great the Notts have taken precautions by bringing in a winger Josh Martin.
  12. It's day three of the match between Notts & Warwickshire. Notts will be keen to build their lead close to 400 if they can. Notts will resume on 324/6.
  13. I'm pleased for Adam that he appears settled at Cray valley with 37 appearances & 12 goals so far.
  14. Morecambe are going to probably sit back, let Notts have the ball, they will employ a high press & try to wait for mistakes at the back by Notts. Every team tries the same tactics against Notts every week, Gillingham last Saturday was no exception. But Notts are much more secure at the back nowadays & Notts have reduced the effectiveness of this tactic by opponents considerably this season. Notts will treat Morecambe with respect & will guard against their aerial threat, which I'm sure will be relentless. It will be a day where Dan & Jacob will want to play well against their former club & Alassana & Jodi missing will be a blow too. However, if Notts play to the level that they have shown this season, I just believe Notts will be too strong all over the pitch. I'm expecting a close game with Notts winning by the odd goal. CMON U PIES!!
  15. Your Saturday Morning Weather
  16. WBRM, You've basically said it all there. Comparing the two, they are different personalities for a start. Jose is more towards the Brian Clough type of Manager & Pep is more towards the Cloudio Ranieri type. I think Jose is the better Manager, & I think he would possibly succeed with getting a lower league club promoted rather than Pep. But I don't think they would ever consider it because they want to be at the pinnacle of the game with a big club and the best players.
  17. Every game in league 2 is going to be a stern test & the match against Morecambe will be no exception. They made a great comeback after being 0:2 down the other night & they showed lots of character & determination to come back & force a draw, & could have easily won the game against Fleetwood in the end Every single side in League 2 will raise their game against Notts so Notts have to be at their best every time. If Notts play to their capabilities they should be too strong for Morecambe however, at this point I would take a draw as a good result.
  18. Update. Very important 2 nd batting point for Notts that means if Notts avoid defeat they are safe in Division one for another season.
  19. @Wheelbarrow repair man. Another thing. When you see where Wrexham are now, top of league one with the finance they have, who was the actual National League manager and team of the year when Notts pushed Wrexham so hard. Only one Manager & one team in my eyes and I don't have to mention both names. You know which Manager & what team I mean.
  20. Jacob Bedeau has been an excellent signing for Notts. He has quickly slotted into the Notts side & has become an important part of the Notts defensive unit with Macari & Platt. Notts have tightened up considerably at the back & it has primarily been down to those three players having a good understanding between each other. Jacob has also shown that he is capable of going forward too, when the opportunity opens up for him. This gives Notts another string to their bow, when they are on the offensive. As Jacob gets more game time, he can only improve & become an even more valuable asset to the Notts team. It will be a big day for him tomorrow going back to play against his own club. I am sure he'll want to perform well & maybe even score a goal too. That would be a return to remember.
