Good Morning. It's a chilly morning here with over an overcast sky. No wind. Waiting for the groceries to be delivered this morning. Did you know Mansfield gained the royal charter as a market Town in 1227? The Domesday Book (1086) recorded the settlement as Mammesfeld and market-petition documents of 1227 spelt it Maunnesfeld. King Richard II signed a warrant in November 1377 to grant tenants the right to hold a four-day fair each year; the spelling had changed to Mannesfeld. There are remains of the 12th-century King John's Palace in "Kings Clipstone", between Mansfield & Edwinstowe, & it was an area of retreat for royal families & dignitaries through to the 15th century. It was here that King William the Lion of Scotland met King Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart) to congratulate him on his return from the crusades.

During the second half Burton tried to save the match by putting on more of their first team players as the second half progressed, but the Notts team held firm in defence to win the match

It was a going to be a difficult match tonight against a League 1 team. Notts saw plenty of player changes, but the players that came in aquited themselves well, throughout the match. I believe it was a good defensive performance overall. Notts were dangerous up front at times in that first half. All the team played well to the system, & showed plenty of character in the 2nd half. Rod McDonald had a great first half after being out injured. Austin was as steady as he always is. Jevani Brown had an encouraging performance & I thought Reynolds proved why he featured in the pre season games. The five academy players played well & contributed to the win. So a very good performance by all the players tonight, however, my man of the match goes to Kellan Gordon.

My shortlist for the man of the match are the following players, Reynolds, McDonald, Austin Cundy, Gordon, Hinchy, & Brown. Poll will close 9 pm Wednesday. When you vote can you state who you voted for & why?

The team absolutely deserved the win tonight. The frustration of Saturday is long gone. This is a tremendous win, against a league one side & Stuart will be absolutely delighted. Great to see Rod McDonald return and play so well in that first half, with Cundy doing well too, Notts are going to have some competition for places in their defense.

What a great winning evening for the graduates.
