Alex Bass had a very good season for Wimbledon with sixteen clean sheets The board have clearly identified the players we need after last season's experience of our defensive frailties and it is great to see I am sure that we are going to see more incomings to Notts which will make the Notts team a formidable force in League 2. My wish now is to see Jodi Jones pen an extension to his contract.That would be very good news too

Gareth Southgate has his own way of doing things. He makes the decisions regarding style of play and the tactics If things go wrong he is rightly going to be questioned by the media and the fans, that goes with any Football Manager/Head Coach. I've never been aware that the FA who employ Southgate, have stipulated the style of football that England should play so what we see of England, style & tactics, Southgate owns it. Personally I would like to see England being more adventurous and when they go ahead, have the confidence to go on and kill the game instead of becoming defensive minded. Whether we agree or not, I believe that the teams propensity to revert to going defensive after taking a lead has cost us dearly, EG, the last Euros in England, & we saw it the other night too, which could have been costly.

Notts have learned from last season and are making the signings Notts really need. The recruitment team are doing a great job after the criticism they had for some of last season's recruitment. I would like to see another right footed central defender, a tigerish defensive midfield player and a right footed wing back CMON U PIES.

@liampie @Wheelbarrow repair man I agree with you liampie to a certain extent regarding Southgate and his involvement with the under 21s. However, Peter Taylor has a good record as England under 21 Manager too. Over two periods & one match as caretaker he only had 3 defeats in 31 games as manager. He knew lots of young players who went on to play for the senior England side, but Peter Taylor was continually overlooked for the Senior England Manager role. Stuart Pearce had a great record as England under 21 Manager too, just 5 defeats in 41 matches. That's why I wouldn't say that Southgate's experience as an under 21 Manager was a factor in him getting the senior role. To be honest, I think Peter Taylor was a better Manager than Southgate, but again, I think politics was involved again why Taylor wasn't considered for England Manager.
