Since retiring I've continued to get up early most days. I had to get up early for work, sometimes starting work at 3 am depending on what round I was working. Nice quiet day in today. I watched a good action Movie titled "Taken 3". Have already seen Taken 1 & 2. Starting Liam Neeson. I do like the Action Movies.

Ian McParland, a big Notts County favourite, played for Walsall on loan in 1991. He made 11 appearances & scored 6 goals.

A player who may well be playing for Notts on Saturday, Mazier Kouhyar, played for Walsall between 2016 to 2019 playing 21 times with 1 goal.

Good evening. It's been raining most of the day here, but the rain hasn't dampened the spirits. It's just 10 days to Xmas & the Xmas decorations are all up & in their place.

I'm happy to be still in a playoff place. Well it does sound better than just 5th place.

Notts were on 31 points from 20 games in 7th place at the same stage last season. So they were 6 points below what they total this season after 20 games.

@McPie It was good enough for Port Vale and AFC Wimbledon to get promoted last season by not dominating teams by possession a lot of the time, but winning matches by being dogged, resilient, physical & hard working all over the pitch when they had to, & taking their chances when those opportunities presented themselves.

Dennis & Jatta. A prolific partnership currently with 18 goals between them.

Two more takeaways from the Grimsby win. Confirmation that Notts appear to have cut down considerably on the tippy tappy passing game at the back. The back three & goalkeeper were more inclined to kick the ball up field from the back or into touch if under pressure, which is a good safety first tactic. Notts were employing some dark arts during the closing stages of the game. Roos was booked for time wasting, & the team were taking their time when the ball went out of play.

I watched the full match replay this morning. The Notts backline of Macari, Platt & Bedeau were superb. Roos didn't put a foot wrong again. Grant did a lot of good work around the pitch, it's not spectacular but it is effective. Jatta & Dennis took their chances well, Bennetts did well in the first half but faded in the 2nd. Tsaroulla was hard working up & down the flanks. This was another typical Martin Paterson team performance full of resilience. They dig in, they scrap & work so hard as a team, & when they need it, they have the quality upfront to score the goals. Iorpenda & Norburn did well in midfield. Martin could have a selection headache when Robbo & Matt are fit to play. It's very hard to pick a Man of the Match for Notts, because everyone played so well, but I'm going for Matty Platt because I think he's back to his best once again. He won his aerial battles & got in the some vital blocks & interceptions.
