I think that Stuart doesn't get the appreciation that he thoroughly deserves for his time at Notts. Luke will always be a legend for what he did getting Notts back into the football league, but when he left Notts were leaking goals like a sieve & sliding down the league. Stuart managed to improve the Notts defence & guided Notts to a playoff place the following season, despite not having the support that he should have had from that January onwards after his coaching staff left. Stuart is now demonstrating once again that he can coach & guide a side to challenge for honours. His York side are scoring lots of goals, but his defence is watertight too. It could be career defining for Stuart if he achieved promotion with York.

Grimsby visit Meadow Lane having won just 1 of their last 5 League matches. Notts beat Grimsby 0:2 at Blundell Park on the 13th December. Grimsby currently stand in 12th place on 49 points in League 2, with a record so far of 13 wins, 10 draws & 9 defeats over their 32 matches. Notts have a good record against Grimsby since their return to League 2. Notts are unbeaten in the 5 matches played with 4 wins & a draw, the draw being the unforgettable 5:5 draw at Blundell Park on the 13th Jan 2024. Notts will be hoping to repeat their great performance, which they achieved against Tranmere last Saturday, when they recorded their biggest win under Martin Paterson, an emphatic 5:0 win which would have had the rest of League sitting up & taking notice. Grimsby will be a much bigger test for Notts this Saturday, & they must not be underestimated. They will bring a large following with them & it should be a bumper crowd at Meadow Lane with a great atmosphere. Notts will be hoping that Ollie Norburn has recovered from his knock against Tranmere, & there is more encouraging news about Palmer & Jatta getting closer to fitness, that could see one of them make the bench on Saturday. I expect to see Lee Ndlovu lead the Notts line after his great performance against Tranmere. Matt Dennis may start the match just behind him. Upfront for Notts will be a key area for me. If Notts can continue with their good form & take their chances, we should see a Notts win on Saturday. My score 3:1 to Notts.

We all remember the epic tussle between Wrexham & Notts for automatic promotion in season 2022/23. We were both far ahead of all the other teams in the League that year. Both scored over 100 goals & earned over 100 points each. Well it is all happening again between two very good sides, Rochdale and York City. Both are on course to earn over 100 points & score more than 100 goals each again. The way York City are going they could easily surpass the goal tally that Notts managed to achieve being 117 goals. York are already on 91 with 12 matches still to play. Former Notts Head Coach Stuart Maynard, the HC of York City, is having a brilliant season guiding York to possible promotion. But just like Notts, Rochdale or York may have to settle for a playoff place rather than automatic promotion. I think it's time that two teams got automatically promoted from the National League. The lottery of the playoffs could turn out to be very cruel for one of those teams. What are your thoughts on this? Latest National League Table.

@Chris & @theAnticlough I agree with all that you both have said regarding our defense. I think Norburn has been big during the last nine matches or so, I think that if I could chose the best combination in central midfield it would be Iorpenda & Roberson, at home, but it's very difficult because Norburn brings such a lot to the side too. It's a difficult choice for Martin. I think it may come down to who we are playing whoever gets the nod.

Pity he didn't make the grade for us. Martin prefers a type of player that can give quality but also graft & show lots of commitment on the training ground. Hopefully he will see success at his new club. I'm a little bit concerned that Enoru has only seen about 20 minutes of first team action since he came to Notts. He has only been used in the one game. I do hope he's given another opportunity soon.

I hope to believe that another 4 wins will see Notts assured of a playoff place, which I think should be the first priority. Once a place in the playoffs are assured a further four wins giving us 85 points in total should be enough for a promotion place I think Cambridge & MK Dons will be promoted. Hopefully we will get the third place. I think Bromley will be in the playoffs.

Nice to see Cedwyn Scott doing well at South Shields in the National League North. Cedwyn has scored 15 goals for them in just 25 league games this season. South Shields are doing well & have a great chance of promotion. They currently stand in 2nd place & are competing with Fylde who are in 1st place.

A great Notts win where they dominated & put Tranmere to the sword especially in that 2nd half. Biggest win for Martin Paterson since he became the Notts Head Coach. So who's your Notts Man of the Match today. It might be a difficult decision good luck in making your choice. Brilliant, brilliant win for Notts. A big demolition job of Tranmere with 4 goals in the 2nd half. So pleased for Lee Ndlovu that he's off the mark & got a brace for Notts. Another goal for Dennis, now 14 for the season. Notts have been threatening to do this to a team since they started on their winning run at home. It's their biggest win for a season and a half. It's not just the impressive win, the Notts play was exquisite today, which makes the win even more impressive.
