How Jodi Jonesโ Extension Sets the Stage for Notts Countyโs Future
Jodi Jones extending his contract with Notts County is a massive win, not only for the club but also for the fans. Jones has become such an integral part of the team, and his decision to commit to staying at Meadow Lane until 2027 sends a clear message. Both the player and the club are aiming high for the future. What strikes me most about Jones is his passion for Notts County. You donโt often see players who speak so openly about how much a club means to them. When Jones said he was "buzzing" after getting the deal over the line, you could feel his excitement. This is a player who has rediscovered his love for football thanks to Notts, and it's obvious why he chose to stay. Itโs not just about the contract; itโs about the club giving him a place where he feels at home. Jonesโ bond with the fans has also been huge. Heโs openly said how much their support lifts him, and anyone whoโs been to Meadow Lane can see how he feeds off the crowd. When the fans sing his name, you can tell it gives him that extra spark. Itโs more than just football for him, itโs about being part of a community, and thatโs what makes his decision to stay such a big deal for the club. Jones isnโt just a favourite at Notts County. Heโs earned the respect of the wider football community too. Winning both the PFA and EFL Player of the Year awards last season shows the level he is playing at. Yet, whatโs refreshing is how humble he remains. Heโs quick to give credit to his teammates, the manager, and the supporters, but you can see that his focus is on one thing โ promotion. Thatโs what drives him, and itโs clear that heโs determined to help the club achieve it. What I admire about Jones is his honesty. Heโs spoken about the pressure he felt when he first joined the club, knowing that Notts County took a chance on him. But that pressure only seemed to push him to perform better. Now, with his new contract in place, heโs ready to prove himself all over again. Heโs already started this season brightly, with important assists and goals, and his nomination for Augustโs Player of the Month shows heโs not content to rest on last seasonโs success. One thing that stands out is how unselfish Jones is on the pitch. When asked whether he prefers scoring or setting up goals, he immediately said assists. Thatโs rare in todayโs game, where many players are focused on their own stats. But Jones seems to get just as much joy from helping his teammates succeed. Itโs that team-first mentality that makes him such a valuable part of the squad. Thereโs been a lot of discussion about his best position, but Jones himself has made it clear that he feels most comfortable on the right. Thatโs where his game is more natural, and itโs where he can be at his most effective. Now, under Stuart Maynard, whoโs had a full pre-season with him, Jones is thriving, and itโs clear to see the impact thatโs having on the pitch. In my opinion, this contract extension doesnโt just keep a top player at the club โ itโs a statement of intent from Notts County. Jones has the passion, the skill, and the hunger to help lead this team to promotion, and for the fans, itโs a sign that the club is heading in the right direction. Itโs not just about this season, itโs about building something that will last, and with Jones on board, thereโs every reason to believe theyโre well on their way. Who's Your Notts County Man of the Match Against Bromley?
Jodi Jones pulled all the strings and helped to restore us back into the game. His play, along with Dan Crowley, was pivotal in doing that. Jatta scored a great goal, but for performances from start to finish, it has to be Jones.

Heads up to full fat milk
I call it whole milk, but full fat doesnโt bother me. Some have too much time on their hands to find faults with words. Just let it pass because the message should be solely about it being healthy. Milk was never intended to be drunk by us, but we do, and the purpose it gave in the beginning has been replaced by other means. It was vital once upon a time; it no longer is, but it tastes great with cereals.

What Makes A Good Striker?
Itโs all about the differences and how each striker understands the game. You have strikers like Lee Hughes, who knows where to be when play opens up, being a natural goalscorer who can read the game remarkably well. You have more traditional finishers, like Macaulay Langstaff, who puts hard work into his play, chasing every opportunity and pouncing on mistakes. Again, he has a good level of understanding of how the play might open up, and his positional play here at Notts was exceptional. You have finishers like Alan Shearer, who can do everything and strike the ball from distance without relying so much on pace. I think what makes a good striker is being able to see how play will unfold, being in the right place at the right time, having natural finishing qualities, not being downhearted about missed chances, and having the ability to hold off the opposition to get an effort away. Pace is useful, but itโs all about the technical ability to move with the play and finish when presented with a chance.

'Incredible Mentalityโ: Stuart Maynard Reflects on Notts Countyโs 4-2 Victory
Bromley did well. They deserve credit for picking up on our poor start and taking the lead. It must be frustrating for them, as it seems they often give the lead away. At 2-0, you donโt have to work as hard, but effort needs to be made to kill off the game. I felt surprised that they didnโt try harder to stop momentum. To a degree, they kept playing, and this came to our benefit. No idea why the Bromley player thought it was wise to foul Jodi Jones, but his decision to stay on the pitch and not go off for treatment was a wise decision. I thought the attacking display by Notts was superb. Even Bromley at times looked dangerous. I am very proud of the way we came back into the match. Stuart Maynard made smart changes, which did help change the way the game was being played.

Match Discussion: Game 6 - The Ravens (A)
I felt there was room for more goals. I thought the game might have been more even-sided, but the changes at half-time made a real difference. Seeing Notts go 2 goals down, you might think itโs not going to be our day, but it just took a bit more effort to get level. Then Notts just had to get to grips with Bromley a bit more. It was a good game, very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Once Notts scored, a second goal looked likely, and once in the lead, it didnโt look like something we would give up. Bromley had some good chances, but Notts were a lot more clinical. Itโs games like this, at the end of the season, that make you realise just how important the 3 points are.

Sven's funeral... wonderful write up from Henry Winter
Sven had a very good send-off. I have also seen clips, and some very nice tributes were made to him. I think it was only right that many of the England squad he managed turned up, but I donโt think the media should make a fuss about David Beckham attending. It was a funeral, and he was there to pay his respects.

Match Report: Notts Countyโs Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley Lead 4-2 Comeback Victory Over Bromley FC
There were some โhere we goโ and moans amongst the support where I sat. I get it, but I wish fans would allow the game to unfold further before they start. In the first 6 minutes, Bromley caught us and made the most of knowing their pitch. They deserved it, and Notts did struggle, but I donโt think we should be harsh. The pitch looked like it had barely been watered, and on a pitch where the ball isnโt gliding off, you have to be more skilful with your control. It didnโt take long for Notts to show signs of wanting it more. It was a good match, and the comeback was exceptionally well taken. Notts deserved all 4 goals, but Bromley can feel unlucky that their strategy fell short so early in the game.

Jodi Jones Targets More Goals and Promotion in a Big Season for Notts County
See, this is about Jodi Jones. He always strives to be better, he's not content with what he does, and it's this drive that pushes him. He says that he wants to get more goals, then goes and scores twice! He's a brilliant talent, a player that wants to do well for the club and has a mission which is to focus on helping us secure a finish in the top half. It's not just said for the sake of it, Jodi means it.

Match Discussion: Game 6 - The Ravens (A)
The pitch looks very dry, they have an advantage with the conditions and size. It could be quite a free scoring game, if both teams continue as they are right now.

Jodi Jones Reflects on New Contract and Future Ambitions with Notts County
I never doubted he would extend his deal. I understand how some fans feel it doesnโt mean much, but it does. Thereโs heaps of positivity oozing out of what Jodi says. Itโs a sign of his commitment, enjoyment of football, and focus on earning Notts another promotion. Players who experience this usually have the drive to go again when they are of the quality we see in Jodi. The Reedtz brothers need to take credit for some of this, along with Stuart Maynard, who has noticed heโs far better in his natural position. Jodi has been quality so far this season, and I hope it continues. I am sure it will with the attitude and focus he shows. Proud that heโs a Notts County player!

Record-Breaking Jodi Jones Signs New Deal to Secure Future at Notts County
BIG NEWS!! I wasn't worried about Jodi Jones not extending his stay, because I always felt that he would. I doubt he wanted to leave Coventry City, but here he is now at Meadow Lane, and he's earned a very similar reputation with our fan base. We love seeing him put on our shirts, and he enjoys entertaining us. His performance is top draw when he's in the zone and his focus always helps to be a game-changer. The way he goes about getting forward, there's no real surprise that he's full of assists. I also like how Stuart Maynard is encouraging Jodi to have more efforts on goal.

Maynard's Selection Conundrum. Who Should be in His Starting 11?
I donโt see the partnership of Scott Robertson and Matt Palmer being something weโll see as concrete. I did think it would be at the start of the season, but I think George Abbott looks a better option for winning the ball back and tackling players. Robertson is good going forward but isnโt always careful when passing the ball. He can lose it at times too, so I think Abbott will come into the team more. I do like Curtis Edwards. I think heโs very good in the advanced midfield role, but heโs okay further back. I do think he has done exceptionally better near the top end of our team. As for the team, I think right now it could change and adapt. Iโll wait until we are further into the season.

Excellent article on Notts v Accrington by Tom Reed
It's a good advert for Notts, and excellently written. I am confident that neutral visitors will thoroughly enjoy their experience at Meadow Lane. If we just look at the attendances they are up, and I have heard fans on match days say how they are now able to bring their mates now that there are plenty of options to have a drink before the game. The Terrace Edition actually seems like a very good site, I can imagine it falling down the likes of @DangerousSausage's alley. Terrace Edition WWW.TERRACEEDITION.COM

How Notts Countyโs New Signings Are Transforming the Squad for League Two Success
Notts County had a busy summer transfer window, bringing in several new players to further strengthen an already strong squad. As the season starts, it's clear that these acquisitions have been part of a well-thought-out strategy, not just to fill gaps but to build a team capable of meeting the demands of League Two. Integrating the new signings into the existing 3-4-2-1 formation has been a smooth process, with early performances on the pitch showing promise. Alex Bass, signed from Sunderland, has quickly established himself as a commanding presence in goal. His debut against Tranmere Rovers demonstrated his ability to control the penalty area confidently, making key saves that helped secure a clean sheet. This performance instantly won him the approval of the Magpie supporters. Since then, only a well-executed corner from Fleetwood and a rocket of a shot by Swindon Townโs Gavin Kilkenny have beaten him, both of which were almost impossible to stop. Bassโs consistency and distribution skills have already proven him to be an upgrade in goal. His long kicks, turning defence into attack, have added a new dimension to Notts Countyโs play. The defensive line has also seen significant improvement, with new additions bringing depth and quality. Rod McDonald, although yet to feature this season, impressed during pre-season and looks to be a solid addition once he can return to action. Jacob Bedeau, arriving on a free transfer after leaving Morecambe, has added physicality and aerial strength to the three-man defence. His partnership with Matty Platt, another summer signing from Bradford City, is already taking shape. Plattโs versatility and intelligence with the ball have given the team tactical flexibility, enabling them to adjust during matches without compromising defensive solidity. This new-look defence, with young Lewis Macari now established as the right centre-back, has brought a newfound resilience to the side. Bedeau and Platt, in particular, have formed a solid understanding that has brought calmness to a backline that struggled with consistency last season. Their composure, evident in both their positioning and decision-making, also influences those around them. Macari, benefiting from the experienced players beside him, continues to grow in confidence. With these defensive reinforcements, players like Jodi Jones, a more attack-focused wing-back, can push forward without worrying about leaving the defence exposed. In midfield, the club finds itself in an enviable position. Last season, fans dreamed of seeing Matty Palmer and Scott Robertson play together in midfield, particularly after Palmer's return from a long injury. While this duo promises much, the arrival of new signings means thereโs no need to rush Palmer back into the fold. Curtis Edwards, who joined from Woking, has already impressed with his work rate and precise passing, while Jack Hinchy, from Brighton, adds a level of technical ability that can unlock defences. The arrival of George Abbott also raises questions about the best midfield partnership going forward, as he could rival Robertson for his work rate. This depth in midfield ensures the club has options to rotate, keeping players fresh throughout the season. Conor Grant, signed from MK Dons, brings an extra creative spark, especially in advanced positions. His ability to link play between midfield and attack ensures smooth transitions from defence to attack, giving Notts County fluidity in their play. Meanwhile, Jevani Brownโs loan from Bristol Rovers adds unpredictability and flair to the attack. Brownโs versatility, primarily as an attacking midfielder, allows him to support the lone striker or shift into central roles when required, unsettling opposition defences and offering Notts County tactical flexibility. What stands out most about this new-look squad is the balance and flexibility the new signings have provided. Under the Reedtz brothersโ ownership, recruitment has reached new heights at Meadow Lane, with the board backing Stuart Maynardโs vision for the club. These signings are not just about filling gaps, they represent an evolution of the squad, shaping it into a side capable of adapting to the challenges of League Two while staying true to the clubโs footballing principles. The emphasis on versatility, especially in players like Matty Platt and George Abbott, ensures that Notts County can cope with injuries, suspensions, and tactical adjustments with ease. For the fans, the new signings represent renewed hope and ambition. Thereโs a buzz around Meadow Lane that hasnโt been felt in years. Supporters who have experienced the clubโs ups and downs can sense that this season could be different. The defensive frailties that plagued the team last year appear to be a thing of the past, with a real sense of solidity at the back. The KOP feels confident, knowing that the team can withstand pressure and launch attacks with ease. The experienced players are also thriving alongside the new arrivals. Dan Crowley, the creative force in midfield, has found even more freedom, dictating play with greater fluidity. At the back, seasoned players like Robbie Cundy have blended well with the younger, hungry players around them. This mix of youth and experience, tradition and innovation, is a reflection of what Notts County has always stood for. With each match, it becomes more evident that the club is moving in the right direction. The tactical flexibility, defensive solidity, and attacking flair are all coming together, creating optimism for the season ahead. The integration of the new signings is still ongoing, but the early signs are highly encouraging. As the Magpies aim to build on last seasonโs League Two campaign, the squad feels more complete, balanced, and capable of handling any challenges that arise. For the supporters, this summerโs transfer window has not just brought in new players, it has rekindled belief that Notts County can push for even greater success this season.
