  1. Very good defender, I think he was always too closely compared to his father, and those footsteps would always be hard to follow. Shrewsbury have signed a good player who knows this level well.
  2. Notts looked like they were prepping for a Scandinavian sizzle: bacon metaphors flying, high-tempo pressing, and a whiff of hygge in the air. But now it’s back to the British basics, with cuppas, square sausage, and a tactical plan scribbled on the back of a Tesco receipt. From Danish bacon to our own brand of beans, we’re pretty good at rolling with the punches.
  3. It's a very good interview which gives us fans a better insight; the questions were surprisingly good, and it was nice to see points followed up on. I don't think the board would have appointed Martin Paterson just because some rejected working with the new setup. Not with the way the announcements came through, it seems like they had their man in mind and wanted to strengthen around him. Andy Edwards is the more interesting part of the discussion, with him having experience within the England U20s, U19s, and U16s teams. Has anyone explained how they ended up being paired together?
  4. He could help get them in the top league in Brazil, Serie A. FC Victroria are top of the Copa do Nordeste, so it does look like an excellent move. I am surprised he's not signed for a European team, I would have thought that would be an easier move for him but he should be a good player for them. Best of luck to him.
  5. Other team members, Mr. Smarty Pants. πŸ˜‰
  6. If any iPad users do have issues, it would be helpful for the gaffer to identify problems.
  7. Thanks for keeping us updated, gaffer. I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it. Considering how major the upgrade was, there really haven’t been many problems. Best of luck finding out what's causing the trouble.
  8. Well, he said all the right things, he seemed very honest and open. Willing to learn and appreciate feedback, the key thing was his desire to learn and improve. So many head coaches and managers get stuck within their system and refuse to adapt. One of the faults about Stuart Maynard was his tactical changes and inability to turn games around, with little sign of improvement during his tenure. Obviously, fans will still be reserved, but I hope more come to realise that he wants to earn their trust and he's willing to work for it.
  9. Some fans don't really understand what it's about and won't give it a chance. Martin Paterson’s arrival has upset a group who seem more focused on finding fault, especially with things like the technical board. Comments suggesting the Reedtz brothers want full control are silly. If that were true, why would they appoint a CEO or hire staff just to ignore them? That line of thinking doesn’t make sense. It’s new and unfamiliar, so it’s easy to judge too quickly. But since Alan Hardy left, we’ve seen clear benefits from this different model. The club has moved forward thanks to the Reedtz approach. Their ideas have helped both on and off the pitch. The most promising part is how they’re aiming to make the club more sustainable. People might ignore the technical board now, but if it works, even the critics will claim they were always in favour.
  10. Good luck to them in La Liga, if they can be more technical and defensively tight at the back, they might be able to stay up.
  11. We have a good squad, we are a couple of signings from really adding 'strength' to the team, but someone with Martin Paterson's winning mentality could get the most out of the players. It will be crucial now that he's in, that he bond with and form a strong relationship with the players. Having them on board and giving 100% will be helpful, but it is very early. We don't know how Paterson will handle setbacks, we don't know his tactic preferences or squad selection. The positives are how strong of a squad we have, we have a solid keeper, a decent defence, the midfield is stronger, and we have Alassana Jatta up top. Sign a replacement for David McGoldrick which is a standout signing for League Two, get another proven goal-scoring striker, and we could mean business. He's highly rated by the board, so I suspect he will move back to a senior coaching role.
  12. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @MejustMike. How long have you been a supporter? It would be nice to hear from you.
  13. Burton Albion looked the most likely to be relegated from League One, they were very poor and never looked capable of staying up. Their fans are being quick to dismiss that Martin Paterson played any role in that, putting it down to other teams losing, but he managed to get the points from a team that looked very unlikely to pick anything up. Notts aren't a struggling team, we are making progress in League Two, and it's been steady. I would have liked to see the board appoint someone who would be less divisive among the fans, just as a way to get back the unity. Paterson still deserves a fair chance, and so far he has shown interest only in our club. We have to try to give him time and avoid early judgment, at least to the point of getting behind him. Every new manager deserves the support of fans from the outset. I hope we see positive signs early on in the new season.
  14. The board has made its call and appointed someone who they hope can get us promoted; I don't know much about Martin Paterson as a coach or manager. I only vaguely know him as a player, and I just hope he has that aggression to win and can get the players wanting to put an extra 20 to 30% into their performances. Paterson has been given a good opportunity to come in and guide Notts, so fingers crossed he will do just that.
  15. This is a great idea! I will look to find the pictures I took on the day and share some.
  16. Happy Birthday, @Fan of Big Tone! How are you planning to celebrate your big day? Hope it’s awesome! Enjoy!
  17. Today seems better than what people were saying it would be. It's actually pretty nice here in Manchester! How's the weather over in Nottingham?
  18. It’s good to wear t-shirts again without needing to layer up. Just don’t forget the sun cream, and it’s best to stay out of the sun around midday when it’s at its hottest. I’ve really enjoyed the past week because it’s felt like proper summer, though I know it’s been a bit too warm for some. I’m lucky my apartment has air conditioning, and it doesn’t cost me anything as it comes with the place. That makes a big difference. I don’t need to, but I like to open the kitchen window where I sit and write at home. The breeze has been lovely.
  19. He didn’t really need to highlight that he’s the first South Asian Head of Coach Development in academy football in England. If you’re good at what you do, that should be what matters most. Saying that makes it sound like where he’s from played a big part in the decision. I’m sure he’s proud of his background, and that’s fair enough. But the message could have focused more on what he wants to achieve. It came across as a bit too much about him and less about the job. I’d much rather hear someone talk about how vital it is to guide young players and help them get the best from their careers. That’s the heart of the role. Let’s hope he keeps his feet on the ground and stays focused on the work, not himself. There’s no room for egos in youth development. It’s about the players, not the spotlight.

  23. I would buy Notts, no doubt, and I would instantly look for the best fans who are selfless to get involved with bringing about a real evolution where the club is brought to the front, focusing on being "fan-inclusive." I would hire someone to run the club at board level, then make sure each department was correctly staffed. The ticket office would be overhauled; I would make sure fans could actually speak to someone without the phone being put down mid-queue for the 20th person in line. Appointing a manager to decide who is best to bring in, with a scouting team and analysts to aid him. Meadow Lane wouldn't need much doing to it, initially. I would make sure the squad had a good budget to climb the leagues, but I would want to see the manager invest in upcoming young players amongst experienced ones, so by the time promotions were gained, the players would be at the level with them.
  24. It's really interesting to think about how so much of the world's gold just sits in vaults, often for years without being touched. It makes you wonder if that gold could actually do more good if it were used to support advancements in things like technology, healthcare, or renewable energy. Instead of just gathering dust and going up in value, wouldn’t it be better if it actually helped drive some progress? Investing in these areas could lead to innovations that really benefit everyone, instead of just sitting there in a safe. The difference between what it could do and what it is actually doing is pretty mind-blowing.
