Notts County fans pay tribute to Derek Pavis

Joe Jones

On Saturday, it was announced that former Notts County chairman Derek Pavis had passed away aged 87.

Pavis, who has the west stand at Meadow Lane named in his honour, guided the Magpies through their most successful period in their recent history thanks to his shrewd appointment of Neil Warnock and investment in the squad.

He also oversaw the redevelopment of the stadium before stepping aside after 13 years at the helm at the age of 70.

Here are just some of the tributes left on the PON site to one of the finest chairmen in the club's history.

Fantastic man a true Notts county legand and hall of famer. He was the pioneer for Notts county I hope they can do his memory proud. God bless you Derick a true gentleman.

It was very saddening to learn about his death, as I mentioned in the forum - I was hoping it wasn't true. However, his legacy will live on and thanks to Derek we have a great stadium which can be modernised quite easily if we was ever to return to the Championship.

I hope we use this season as a way to pay respect to various lost people from the Notts community.

Rest in Peace Derek Pavis.
