Frank Vincent helps Notts County surge back to the top of National League table

PON_News

Frank Vincent has emphasised that he and his fellow Notts County players will maintain their focus on one game at a time, following their latest results in the National League. The Magpies have surged back to the top of the table, having secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against Wealdstone. Goals from Sam Austin, Macaulay Langstaff, and Vincent have helped to take their points tally to a record-breaking 100 for the season. It's the first time in the club's history that they have achieved this feat.

However, the excitement wasn't just confined to the Meadow Lane ground. Just before Vincent scored Notts' third goal, cheers erupted around the stadium. Fans received news of Milli Alli's second goal of the game, which put Halifax Town 2-1 up against Wrexham. These cheers echoed throughout the stadium as people headed for the exits. Mani Dieseruvwe added a third goal late on to inflict only the third defeat of the season on Phil Parkinson's side, ahead of their highly anticipated match on Monday.

Despite the impressive victory, Vincent and his colleagues remain mindful of the importance of taking each game as it comes. They know that maintaining their focus will be crucial to achieving their ultimate goal of promotion to the Football League.

"It's been a mad title race with them, we have ultra respect for them as a team because they are just relentless," Vincent told BBC Radio Nottingham on how he views the title race after today's results.

"It is going to go right to the end, and we're trying not to focus too much on them, and it's just one game at a time, and today it was Wealdstone, and now we have to focus on our next match and get the three points.

"We know it is going to be tough, but we have to keep pushing."

On an emotional day for everyone associated with the football club, supporters, players, and coaching staff paid their respects to the late Jason Turner who sadly passed away last week. Vincent also spoke about the difficulties of dealing with the situation heading into the game. He hoped that the performance from himself and his teammates made Jason Turner proud yesterday.

"Today's result is a great dedication to Jason.

"Everyone has had that personal connection with him, he's a great guy, was full of energy, always smiling, and anything you needed to be done he was there to do it, he would have been proud of us today so really well done to everyone involved.

"It's been really tough - when the gaffer told us the news it was really shocking for all of us, and it has been hard to get over that shock really, he will be a big miss to this club.

"It is going to be virtually impossible to replace, but all my thoughts are with Jason and his family and I hope we made him proud today."

Vincent became the 16th different scorer for the club in the league last season with his strike that afternoon. He was the first to react to Cedwyn Scott's rebound and smashed the ball beyond Sam Howes, rounding off the perfect afternoon for the Magpies.

"Every time I come on I just wait for that opportunity to come, and today it presented itself in the best possible way.

"It bounced up perfectly and I believed in myself and I knew I was going to smash it home, buzzing!"

Great to see Vinny getting on the scoresheet. And Maccas record breaking goal with assist from Archie Mair. Sam Austen goal great too, loved how he held up the t shirt for Jase as well.

The players did incredibly well to keep their emotions and feelings in check. One thing we have to respect under Luke Williams' management is how composed the squad is. There might be spells where it's difficult, but usually, it's there, and it's one of the reasons we have done so well.

I thought all the players did well against Wealdstone. It was a very efficient team performance, and it was clear from the moment the game kicked off that everybody in the Notts camp had one goal, and that was to win.

The players were organised, and their performance was characterized by a high level of intensity and focus. They worked together as a team, defending and attacking as a unit, which made it difficult for Wealdstone to gain a foothold in the game.

It was not only the starting eleven who contributed to the win, but the substitutions also made a significant impact. The whole squad was determined to get the job done, and it showed in their play.
