Kevin Nolan "delighted" with Notts County performance at Middlesbrough

PON_News

Kevin Nolan has declared himself proud of his Notts County charges as they took Middlesbrough all the way to penalties in Tuesday's EFL Cup first-round tie at the Riverside Stadium.

In one of the games of the night, the Magpies took the lead three times, but the Championship high-flyers equalised each time to force the game to spot kicks, where the hosts held their nerve.

Despite the defeat, Notts did not disgrace themselves by any means and Nolan was delighted with the output from his boys.

“I am delighted with them,” he told the Nottingham Post.

“There were so many good performances and I thought they handled the pressure really well. They were more than a match for Boro and I am proud of each and every one of them.

“The character and the attitude they showed was tremendous. What I am hoping now is that they push on after this so we can get better as a team.”

So am I, I am glad we rested our most important players and gave the youth to gain some experience against a respectable team at a decent ground. Happy to see Campbell, Patching, Crawford and Bird all a apart of the team. Good fight shown by the lads.
